Joe Person on Watson, Darnold, Tepper, Brady...and more.
CRA replied to ellis's topic in Carolina Panthers
And I am not saying it is just Darnold. I acknowledge the secondary issues. But you have to start with the primary problem. And that is Darnold. -
Tepper Should go to Cam and admit he fuged up
CRA replied to Panthers12211981's topic in Carolina Panthers
this would be like Gettelmen going to ask 89 to come back. 89 wouldn't even if he was on the street. Cam would pick of the phone for 31 teams right now. But he ain't coming back here. and he doesn't solve anything for us regardless in the big picture. Which is what we should be focused on. A QB who can run the offense we have here. And even if the QB isn't the big picture answer we neeed someone that can at least run it at a high enough level to allow the skill position guys to grow in it (Marshall, Shi, Chuba, etc). -

I think the fact Sam Darnold is clear cut problem #1. Everything else is a secondary issue that is amplified by Sam. Does Joe Brady need to work on some things? Absolutely. Saw that last year. But this mess of a season isn't Joe Brady. It is the fact Matt Rhule signed the worst QB in the NFL the last several years to now touch the ball for us every down.... and now we are paying the price of that horrible decision. -

You are changing the dicussion entirely. I didn't say Teddy was great or good....said he had his best season as a QB with Joe Brady. I said Teddy had his best season as a QB with Joe Brady. Same applies to Anderson. Same applies to Samuel. Same applies to Mike Davis. All those players had career years with Joe Brady. Same thing happened at the college level. Lot of them aren't good football players. But Joe Brady got the best out of them anyone had to date. that was Joe Brady's resume until they tied the worst QB in the NFL to his waist. More evidence points to Sam just being horrific and imploding it all than Joe Brady sucking given what has happened with every other offense he has touched. Can't scheme around the fact Sam Darnold has to touch the ball every snap. -
Things sure have changed Gilmore since he made the move. He might start paying extra close attention to his body to make sure it actually feels good to go. I wouldn't blame him. A very good vet on a one year deal. I don't know anything about Gilmore the guy. But I frankly wouldn't blame him for making business decisions.

Sam Darnold will be Jimmy Clausen 2.0
CRA replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly. Clausen last year easily goes 0-16 for the Jets. And would have done it if even the front office wasn’t trying to set them up to fail. Sam is always going to let you down. You want him to get the pick you want? Well, he is going to win a couple random games just because. -

Clausen and Sam are two different kinds of horrible IMO. Jimmy brought a consistency you could count on. The O would be no threat. Ever. Sam can an have odd game here or there and has physical ability. You can’t count on him even to properly suck. -
I mean is any report 100% correct? No. But literally every local beat writer, national beat writer, everyone plugged into Carolina and Houstonj....like literally everyone, have confirmed we have indeed attempted to get him and it hasn't worked to date. So I get disagreeing with believing a singualr report as 100% true. To say we aren't interested, doesn't seem grounded in literally anything.
-
huh? the reporting is the offer is on the table and Watson simply won't waive the not trade clause for Carolina.
-
I am so ready for the Panther offer to eventually leak out. Now that should be a good thread.
-
Yep. And this looks 10x worse than Stafford saying no thanks to us.

well, setting folks up for the actual growth and building to occur....seems like a pretty important aspect of the whole rebuilding thing. -

only problem with that narrative is everything else he has done before Sam Darnold arrived (the worst QB in the NFL over the last 4 seasons). Everyone had career years last season in Carolina with Joe Brady Everyone the year prior to that, at LSU had career years with his pass attack. I mean he could be poo. If he was given a functional QB this year his track record could of continued too. -

It's a bad pairings. Almost textbook worst possible pairings. Over and over on repeat. Everything comes back to Rhule. Probably Tepper too. These dudes have no clue how to build a NFL team from the ground up. Bad QB + Bad OL = bad pairing First time OC + Bad QB + Bad OL = bad pairing. College HC + College DC + College OC = bad pairing New Owner + College HC + First time GM = bad pairing. I mean, build things from the ground up. You still need to bring experienced and proven people along for the ride and I think we failed there in too many places. You can have a first time OC....but what you pair him with matters. You can have a project QB. A weak OL. But what you pair it with matters. You can hire a college HC but who he is paired up with matters. Foundation of this rebuild just seems really weak and poorly done. Forget the foundation work, let's take about light fixtures! Here is a new DB. Look we signed a WR to a lot of money. -

I think he could develop in the NFL in the right spot. We aren't giving him the basics at this point. We did last year. Not the dumpster fire QB/OL combo Rhule gave him this year. Sam is just too bad. A bad pairing. you need to give him a Ryan Fitzpatrick (or the Teddy's of the world), someone like that. I think Joe Brady would keep trending in the right direction. I think Brady's base scheme and concepts are perfectly fine. He needs a functional QB. Which Sam has never been. He can take a flawed QB like Teddy and make it work. But Teddy was functional. Knew how to play in the NFL. Just didn't have the arm to make all the plays. -

I mean it is year 2 of being an OC for Brady. I agree with Person, that he has game flow stuff and situational stuff needs to work on. But that was always part of the deal when we hired him. but we are asking the a green OC to learn feel of a game and flow...while we give him the worst QB and OL in the NFL to figure it out. Which doesn't really work. I mean, he can't run so much basic stuff. Almost every aspect of the game has to be schemed around defencies. And you are just going to fail often because the talent is too bad. Brady can call great plays at great moments.....and it all look like poo because of Sam and the OL. -
He wasn’t actually playing good. But yeah, we could overload CMC then vs some really bad teams….and essentially ask much less of Sam. he is a 4th year vet. Daniel Jones had less help than Sam last week. Yet he makes Sam look bad.
-
He played Atl last week. He completed 80% of his passes with 4 TDs. So I guess Sam will keep it in that ballpark too then if he is better this weekend lol

and Sam being a bad jittery one read QB that doesn’t see the field….and everyone in the NFL knew he couldn’t see the field…that basically needs a perfect scenario to be okay. -
The Jets and Houston are two of the worst teams in the NFL and had rookies making their NFL debut. The other game? The Saints had been displaced by a hurricane. Suffered a ton of injuries they were having to adjust for from the prior week…and had a ton of their coaching staff out. and now we aren’t playing rookies in their debut game or some oddity like the Saints were under this isn’t like Teddy. We were in every game minus the when we played the eventual Super Bowl champs. And everyone on offense nearly had a career season.

And what does this have to do with what I said? most impactful - Cam, 89 best football player - Pep/Luke, 89
