Give the best QB coach in the NFL Jimmy Clausen. He is still Jimmy Clausen. It's a talent driven league. Even a talented OL groups are setup to fail in today's NFL. There is no coaching up 4 guys who are backups all lined up beside each other that is going to make a really bad QB look good either.
-
they do belong in the NFL. They are a cast of backup offensive lineman. if all you had to do was hire a coach to make backups look like starters, people would spend all their time investing in OL coaches and not in the actual OL.

Joe Brady being scapegoated pretty much guarantees we will bring in an old NFL retread next year. No one young with potential is going to risk the rep damage coming here would do. Joe Brady might be good....he might not. You won't know either way giving him Sam Darnold and this OL. He is a passing guy. But he did get the most productive seaosn out of everyone his first season... before we went the comical Sam route.

scapegoat season is here! How dare the OL coach not be able to get this cast of misfits to play like well paid and talented group!

Sam Darnold will be Jimmy Clausen 2.0

Question was who was more disappointing to us. we had 3 years of Darnold being horrible in the NFL before he got here. At least with Clausen you could have some actual false hope before he took the field since he was a draft pick and rookie. -

Career wise? No. last 5 weeks? Yeah, that’s Jimmy Jam football. -

I’d cast my vote for Jimmy Jam. Sam is just doing what he has done for now 4 straight years I didn’t like Jimmy from the jump but his level of suck was more surprising just because we hadn’t witnessed it in the NFL yet IMO. Jimmy didn’t even look like he had played a Notre Dame. Looked like he pulled a Kobe or Lebron and just came out of HS. So bad. Man he was bad. Mel Kiper still showing up to work after his mouth wrote that check too -
Sam Darnold never should have been an NFL starter.

Sam has always been a non field seeing turnover machine. Started at USC. But the lack of parity in college made all his bad play less of a big deal. his turnovers stats have always been bonkers -
I said no one was arguing that outside of maybe a troll account. And then you then pointed out a troll account Sam is a dumpster fire. It’s going to dominate conversation. Which makes sense.
-
And your everyone is saying narrative is referencing an account that was just created called CammyCamLoveTheChildren lol. I acknowledged in my original post that there might be one or two troll accounts. overall, the Sam heat on the huddle has always acknowledged the laundry list of other problems in Carolina. I’m harder on Sam than anyone here. Rhule is our biggest problem. Sam is the easier fix. Again, QB is going to get the most talk.

Panther fan base = day traders Panther fan base needs to = folks that buy Apple and just sit on it forever

NFL teams are also largely mom and pop type orgs in reality. So your owner, HC and GM really matter a lot.
-
saying Sam is a dumpster fire (which he is)….isn’t the same thing as saying he is the only problem Carolina has Carolina has several big problems. Tepper, Rhule, Brady, OL, and the gigantic dumpster fire known as Sam. QBs always are going to dominate the talk because that is what the NFL is about.
-
I’d definitely gamble on Joe Brady if I was another team. Not as OC. Bring him on to the offensive staff if I had a OL and QB to actually see what he brings to the table. he is a passing guy forced to run a John Fox run O with no OL.
-
Ok. Everyone is saying it is all Sam fault. OL is actually good. So is Rhule. So is Brady. So is Robby. that’s what people are saying lol
-
Nah. It’s just the last part of my post. It’s a QB league so that is naturally where the convo goes. We brought in the worst QBS in the NFL and he is huge part of the problem. everyone knows the OL sucks and the coaches are lacking too. But again, it’s a QB league. Sam is going to dominate the talk. I mean there might one or two people trolling saying that. Most of those hard on Sam acknowledge there is a lot wrong in Carolina.
-
Literally no one says it is 100% all Sam and only Sam. but Sam is a huge part of the problem and his part was painfully obvious from day 1 and avoidable. He is the worst QB in the NFL. Horrible OL play isn’t actually a unique thing to Carolina. Lots of teams have it. Every week we see our stud pass rushers go literally unblocked to the opposing QB. And bad coaching is pretty common too. it’s a QB league. So it the convo is always going to be centered there

Start of season skews it a little. But the last 5 games is every bit as bad as prime Clausen 2010.
-
lol. That can’t be true. It just can’t.

Which trade was worse 2nd for Darnold or 3rd for Henderson?
CRA replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Easily the Sam trade. We gave up multiple picks for the worst QB in the NFL. and we overpaid to get him Sam. Menshew and others proved that. CJ was drafted in 2020 and didn’t look like hot garbage when he did play last season. That’s a decent gamble for a 3rd even if he has some mental stuff going on. -
AZ has a better D than NE it will be the best D we have seen all season
-
Sam said he never had symptoms of a concussion in the presser and felt great all week in that regard. he did acknowledge he had an injury to his shoulder and didn’t want to get into that talk. Think he competed 2 balls past 10 yards today and they both are like 13 or so yards downfield. Decent odds Rhule played him hurt. Not that the outcome would have been any different if healthy.
-
I think Rhule looks out for Rhule. It’s what coaches do. And actually benching Sam is risky. Because all it does highlights his piss poor job. I think he tries to buy some time. He will try to get away with blaming the OL, Joe Brady and Sam for a little longer. And trots Sam out there. Road game next week so he is safe. No boo birds and empty seats because of Sam. Hope CMC can work some magic and take a 2 yard pass all the way to pump up Sam’s stock so he can trot him back out at home vs WFT going to PJ is problematic because even PJ level play (which is bad) is what Sam is now. And a decent game from a PJ tier player (which they can have) is better than what Sam is doing of late. The PJ conversation is never about PJ being good enough to be the backup….it’s how PJ playing makes Sam look. While PJ might turn it over, PJ easily can have games where the O moves better simply because of his downfield style. In his one start, despite the bad red zone throws….the WRs had more yards than in any other game that year. That’s problematic if you are Rhule. PJ is at best a practice squad player and if he can push the call downfield and Sam can’t….well, everyone has to look at Matt Rhule. He gave up picks for Sam.

Sam had a QBR of 3 today. which is 3x better than than his worst game vs Belichick. That’s gotta be worth something right?
