I mean, Sam wasn’t cheap. Trubisky was cheap. Menshew was cheap.
-
Well he was the worst starting QB in the NFL….when we brought him in to be the guy. Red flag one. We know the Jets didn’t create most of his issues as he had crazy turnover problem in college. Red flag two. Reporters kept detailing it and asking Rhule about why Sam spent all camp largely just checking down. Matt Rhule only played him in one preseason game and he largely checked down the entire half and did nothing until the final 2 minute drive. And the throws on his only drive during the 2 minute drill were pretty short too. Red flag 3.

Luke literally called out virtually every play, from every OC he faced. I bet Gilmore can tell you most of the routes coming his way too.

We would definately have a winning record if we had Teddy or a Teddy type right now. His style of play paired with the defnesive effort would have been wins vs Philly, NY, and probably the Patriots. and Brady can put more on Teddy's plate because Teddy knows how to do all the basics and make the reads on a field.

this thought is exactly why you start PJ. Then you start that 3rd string QB. last thing you need to happen, is for Sam Darnold to throw a couple checkdowns to CMC vs Atlanta and CMC take them 60 yards and Sam finish a game with a junk stat sheet. Giving clowns like Matt Rhule talking points to continue this mistake. Look guys, Sam moved the team down the field, we got TDs, and won. Maybe there is something there. You bench Sam to close the door on Sam Darnold. It's not about PJ being the man. Or the 3rd string QB. It is about exposing the entire QB depth chart Matt Rhule put together, shutting all the doors. PJ's too.

The WRs in the Lions game had 243 rec yards. The most the WRs have done in the Matt Rhule era. That's just the WR production I am talking about. There are games with more passing yards checking down to RBs and what not. So while PJ gives you all the bad Sam Darnold gives you of late.....PJ at least isn't gun shy and will attack. The last 5 weeks simply doesn't have that. The bad is the same at this point with both. At least PJ isn't shell shocked and will take shots. and I don't care about coming off the bench. PJ is horrible. If you are down multiple scores and ask to him to pass every down....he will go down in a blaze of glory.
-
The one actual epsiode of the PJ show.....was better than what we have seen the last 5 weeks. Just a fact. Go check the WR production in the Lions game. PJ might give you turnoevers and dumb plays. But the only time he started he got the ball into the hands of the WRs. WRs had the most yards in the PJ game than any other last year I believe.

If Matt Rhule gave Joe Brady me? What do you think his playcalling would be? Well, he would call a run every down. It wouldn't work out well but that is all Joe Brady could do. Would that make Brady a juvenile play caller? Actually, he would run the wildcat every play and put me pointlessly outside. Even me taking a snap would be too risky. That is just an exagrerrated view of Joe Brady's life right now. Sam can't do basics. Yet people want Joe Brady to do scheme up a bunch more stuff that is over Sam's head.
-
this is true. But, but he was a rookie OC. Not just the NFL but as a playcaller. Should of been accepted he would have to learn situational stuff and gameflow stuff as time went on. Saw last year that his overall system is pretty good if he has even basic QB play.

Give the best QB coach in the NFL Jimmy Clausen. He is still Jimmy Clausen. It's a talent driven league. Even a talented OL groups are setup to fail in today's NFL. There is no coaching up 4 guys who are backups all lined up beside each other that is going to make a really bad QB look good either.
-
they do belong in the NFL. They are a cast of backup offensive lineman. if all you had to do was hire a coach to make backups look like starters, people would spend all their time investing in OL coaches and not in the actual OL.
-
Joe Brady being scapegoated pretty much guarantees we will bring in an old NFL retread next year. No one young with potential is going to risk the rep damage coming here would do. Joe Brady might be good....he might not. You won't know either way giving him Sam Darnold and this OL. He is a passing guy. But he did get the most productive seaosn out of everyone his first season... before we went the comical Sam route.
-
scapegoat season is here! How dare the OL coach not be able to get this cast of misfits to play like well paid and talented group!

Sam Darnold will be Jimmy Clausen 2.0
CRA replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
Question was who was more disappointing to us. we had 3 years of Darnold being horrible in the NFL before he got here. At least with Clausen you could have some actual false hope before he took the field since he was a draft pick and rookie. -

Career wise? No. last 5 weeks? Yeah, that’s Jimmy Jam football. -

I’d cast my vote for Jimmy Jam. Sam is just doing what he has done for now 4 straight years I didn’t like Jimmy from the jump but his level of suck was more surprising just because we hadn’t witnessed it in the NFL yet IMO. Jimmy didn’t even look like he had played a Notre Dame. Looked like he pulled a Kobe or Lebron and just came out of HS. So bad. Man he was bad. Mel Kiper still showing up to work after his mouth wrote that check too -
Sam Darnold never should have been an NFL starter.

Sam has always been a non field seeing turnover machine. Started at USC. But the lack of parity in college made all his bad play less of a big deal. his turnovers stats have always been bonkers -
I said no one was arguing that outside of maybe a troll account. And then you then pointed out a troll account Sam is a dumpster fire. It’s going to dominate conversation. Which makes sense.
-
And your everyone is saying narrative is referencing an account that was just created called CammyCamLoveTheChildren lol. I acknowledged in my original post that there might be one or two troll accounts. overall, the Sam heat on the huddle has always acknowledged the laundry list of other problems in Carolina. I’m harder on Sam than anyone here. Rhule is our biggest problem. Sam is the easier fix. Again, QB is going to get the most talk.

Panther fan base = day traders Panther fan base needs to = folks that buy Apple and just sit on it forever
-
NFL teams are also largely mom and pop type orgs in reality. So your owner, HC and GM really matter a lot.
-
saying Sam is a dumpster fire (which he is)….isn’t the same thing as saying he is the only problem Carolina has Carolina has several big problems. Tepper, Rhule, Brady, OL, and the gigantic dumpster fire known as Sam. QBs always are going to dominate the talk because that is what the NFL is about.
-
I’d definitely gamble on Joe Brady if I was another team. Not as OC. Bring him on to the offensive staff if I had a OL and QB to actually see what he brings to the table. he is a passing guy forced to run a John Fox run O with no OL.
-
Ok. Everyone is saying it is all Sam fault. OL is actually good. So is Rhule. So is Brady. So is Robby. that’s what people are saying lol
