Sam Darnold being a trainwreck isn't a surprise though. That's not 20/20. That's a predictable trainwreck.

Teddy frankly made sense if Rhule wanted to get rid of Cam. Teddy gets the O up and running in a COVID world. Check. Teddy was probably the only one who could do that. You then draft a kid to come in and take the job from Teddy and he has two years to take it from him. That's an actual plan. Rhule then scrapped the logical plan because Teddy hurt people's feelings with too much truth. Teddy can still be meh QB and spot what a college coaching staff is doing wrong. Joe Brady didn't bring this on himself. Rhule got rid of Teddy. Rhule brought in Sam. Rhule sent us backwards. Joe Brady didn't do that. Rhule is the one without a plan.
-
It's the whole two things can be true aspect. Joe Brady and his offense suck. and everything Rhule did was going to suck by design. Joe Brady is the face of what Rhule put together.
-
I'm not sure if Brady is any good. But I 100% agree that by design he was setup to fail. No doubt. He is a Rhule scapegoat for the offense too. If you hire a green OC that has exclusively been a passing game guy....and give him horrible QBs and OLs.....well, the results are going to be bad.

Did you see what the Patriots did last night...

that was a horrible game. And Bill is a genius in part because the Bills shot themselves in the foot over and over. -
Gettleman was another horrible GM. It would have been nice to of seen Ron Rivera paired with a decent GM. I still think his time was up. But it would have been interesting to see what played out of the Gettlemen hire would have actually been a good one. And we know Gettlemen was horrific. He showed that elsewhere.

Ron would have kept Cam going into 2020. That singular move likely would have put us in a better big picture position than hiring Rhule. Rhule paid Teddy/Sam, picked up a 5th year and traded away our draft picks. I mean the Ron window ended. Ron knows that. Panthers went about replacing Ron in the worst way possible. would have rather kept Ron another year and replaced him with someone not named Matt Rhule.
-
Nah. Rhule has never called plays on any level. Rhule isn't a hands on coach. He is a big picture type coach.
-
Cheated?

Rhule commented that going forward some things would be the same outside of Nixon calling the actual plays. Specifically that different members of the offensive staff are tasked each week with game planning different aspects of the O (redzone, 3rd down, short yardage) and that they will continue doing that… well, maybe that shouldn’t continue as is either? Maybe you don’t need the exact same folks cooking up stuff and handing it to the new name OC. Seems like they would be key part of the game planning problems.

Think he wins 6 this year. And they added a 17th game. So I don’t consider that improvement. Especially given the clusterfug of the QB position. Trading away our draft picks. And lack of actual direction and hope. 2 years in and this team literally has zero identity or direction on offense.

Pretty big red flag that a team got that from him and kicked him to the curb.
-
Talk about a red flag coach Harbaugh came straight in to the NFL and did nothing but win. And a NFL team said no thanks, we would rather not do this.

we got a couple options. 1. Start PJ, never lose again. - not a big fan of this option as it likely ensures Matt Rhule stays employed. No need to argue. Lightning will strike. An earthquake will knock someone over and force them to fumble. Someone accidently recovers it for a score. But PJ Walker doesn't lose. Please accept this and move on. Just a fact. 2. We obviously start Cam. That is what Cam was just paid to be. If you aren't going to play Cam? Then fire Rhule and let Cam coach the damn team. Cam then starts himself and is a player/coach like in the NBA. Fug it. 3. We could start Sam. I'll be honest, Cam, PJ, whoever is on the practice squad, and all FAs would have to break their legs before I could endorse this move. Sam and Rhule both need to leave after this year. Never to return. Go enjoy your millions you stole. Even Sam Bradford is probably impressed by such a heist.
-
that's also not a lateral move for Bienimey. He would have no job security and have less to work with. Any OC we hire will basically be on a one year deal if Rhule stays. Probelm with lame duck HCs is that no one good is going to want to come and work for them.

Person: Rhule could be next, but probably not this year

Moving on from a coach after 2 seasons isn't wild and crazy. -
I'm not a big fan of pulling all the guys from Seattle....that were also part of the Seattle decline.
-
weapons matter and so does coaching for a rookie QBs. Urban and Nagy are trash. And Trevor has nothing to work with. The coaching in Jacksonville makes Rhule/Brady look competent.
-
We hired a guy that basically a green pass only coach…. gave him a horrible OL, bad QB play and wonder why things didn’t work. HC complains about why he isn’t sticking with the run. Well, that’s not what you hired Matt.

what makes you think Matt Rhule can fix a QB situation? His teams never have good QB play. -
Fields was showing some decent growth and moments before he got hurt. I mean, if Trevor Lawerence had the SD weapons and coaching staff......he probably would look a lot different right now. Jags have no talent and a bigger clown than Rhule running the show.
