Rhule almost 100% has an offset clause. He wouldn't get to collect two salaries. If a college hires him the Panthers wouldn't have to pay him. They would only have to pay the difference in the salaries if one existed.

It is mind boggling how many people don’t have anyone around them with even a tiny bit of common sense to be like……yeah, don’t do that. That’s insanely stupid. and I think day one of the Kelly era shows you exactly how this ride will predictably go.
-
and time consuming. When Matt Rhule's disaster season is over this year......he gets legit time off. College coaches if they want to be good don't get legit time off. You just go immediately to recruiting mode.

But it is a lot easier to solve the DB position than QB and OL. If you have a hole at DB? Well, we easily obtained a 2020 top 10 pick (long term) and we also easily obtained one of the literal top 3 DBs in the game (short term) right after we drafted Horn. Or you can dial up heat up front and add talent there to really aid the hole in secondary too. and a hole at QB is massively more impactful than a hole at CB

which is better. a - playoffs in 4 of 5 seasons b - back to back winning seasons but only making the playoffs 2 times in a 5 year window. I care about postseason play. Every season is different. I don’t give a poo what record it takes to get in. Just be relevant. Postseason play is the only thing that makes you relevant. most teams that hire a HC don’t get a run like Ron had. Or Fox had. Would I like better? Of course. I’d like to hit on a Tomlin. A Belichick. But Ron wasn’t actually bad. Just like Foxy wasn’t. They weren’t grand slams. and pointing out I would easily take another version of the Ron era with a better officiated SB isn’t blaming everything on the refs. It’s more an acknowledgment that luck and things outside your control go into a ring.

Belichick/ NE >>>>> Nagy/Bears The book isn’t written on Fields yet. He is literally in his rookie year with situation around him weighing him down. Just like with Trevor down in FL. Horn is a great pick. Positional value was never there given what our roster was. It’s the two things being true aspect.

Now this part I can really get down with, Brown was benched for not playing how they need him to play. Laregely IMO a motivation tool. Not because he is a DL version of our OL. Brown has crazy tools. Tools to be dominate. And the benching IMO was to really drive home he really needs to focus on the little things to actually maximze his talent. I don't know if he will live up to expectation or not, he is super young still and the trenches is a tough game. But his expecations and bar is high. So even if he doesn't hit it.....that alone won't make him bad. Given where he was drafted, the bar for him is dominance inside. Not just being pretty good IMO.

Matt Rhule a hot name for open college coaching jobs at Oklahoma, Notre Dame

basically everything is good except the poo emoji -
Matt Rhule would have loved Armanti Edwards. He could do everything. QB, RB, WR, Returns. Diverse as fug.

Draft order if the season ended today (pretty weird)
CRA replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
this current cast also seems like they make desperation moves. Giving Teddy a big deal. Yeah, he wasn't great but the logical move was still to let him play out year 2 and bring in a young kid. But no we just ate cap space because he said things that were true. Darnold's 5th year option was literally fake confidence. Even Cam coming in to a degree was desperation by this FO. I mean just because I like that one doesn't mean it doesn't apply there too. I have no doubt they do something dumb in this draft. Probably mortgage more of our future for some picks today. Giving someone else a great deal. -
15 lbs or so shouldn't be that hard for a pro athlete. They literally have professional that will say eat X and boom.
-
I'd like him moved to LB.
-
Fitterer going to trade down in the first. Turn that top pick and some others into 12 6th round picks. We get every kid Rhule ever loved from Baylor.

Moore - DJ Moore is definately good. Above average. He without question is one of the best 32 in the NFL. But I think he has a ceiling. And he isn't going to ever be on of the top threats in the NFL. So ideally, you hope to get a Jefferson/Theilen type situation. Where he is basically Theilen in the relationship and have two #1s. Burns - definately good. But defined as a specialist. And great DEs aren't just pass rushers. Brown - jury is still out. He is still only in year 2 and plays in the trenches. He has the phsyical tools to be very good. Think you have to allow more time in the trenches to judge. Chinn - jury is still out. We see lots of guys shine out of the gates and their careers never carry over. I'm still high on him. I think moving him was a mistake. We moved TD around too much early on. It delayed him being great. Anderson - average WR. That's what he has been collectively over the course of his career. Essentially half of one season was used to totally redefine what all the rest of his career has said. An average WR with great speed. There are actually lots of those guys in the NFL. Carter - JAG. Snow - I think snow is a decent DC. Probably the best coach on the staff. Which isn't saying much.

So does PJ start next week? Does anyone even care?
CRA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have never advocated banking anything on PJ. I mean I joke about him not losing. But he is just a backup QB. And in his two starts he frankly has done his job pretty well. people bitch about PJ so hard because we have done such a pathetic job in front of PJ. -

You put Heiniche with a bad OC, a horrible OL, and throw him out in games down two scores.....it's gonna be real ugly too. it's all the extreme game I don't buy into. Jackson is now a top 5 DB. Sam a possible MVP. Extend Cam after Washington, retire him the next week. Heiniche and PJ largely have been the same tier QBs. Heiniche just in a good spot and getting opportunity. Maybe he will keep developing. I'm rooting for him. I judge PJ on his two starts. If you watered him, gave him some sun and took care of him he might could grow too. Might not. But people are way too hard on a backup QB who has won his 2 starts in the NFL. -
Dane Brugler Mock Draft 1.0 (from The Athletic)
CRA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not a Pickett fan. You don't need to be Vick but you need some mobility in the modern day NFL. He doesn't have enough IMO. Are you need insane pocket movement/awareness. And Brady developed that over decades by first being in a great situation and not needing it. -

they added a 17th game this year. So I don't care about hearing about 6 instead of 5. -

the universe was called the XFL PJ Walker was XFL MVP. Heinicke was a backup QB the same season in the XFL. -
It reads like a glitch in the Matrix 1. Lions 2. Jags 3. Texans 4. Jets 5. Jets 6. Giants 7. Giants 8. Panthers 9. Eagles 10. Eagles

If Rhule got a call….I’m sure it is just OU working on contingency plans if their top options end up not working out. I just don’t see how he could actually be high on any list at this current point in time. -

wonder where the line drawn for what is a horrible finish. I see us finishing out 1-5. 2-4 if being optimistic. -
I’ll largely take a repeat stretch of what the Ron era was. Just give me a better officiated Super Bowl. - drafted the most exciting and entertaining player in franchise history - stretch of 4 postseason appearances in 5 years - best season in Panther history -stretch of 3 straight division titles
