The Panthers Have A Strong Social Media Following
CRA replied to Butterflyj30's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah. Panthers Twitter and social media became legendary during the Ron era. Best in professional sports for a window. No matter what was going down they were always ready with great material. They would troll folks. Destroy teams. Funny memes. You name it. It’s wasn’t run of the mill Panther info. It was entertaining. -

I mean, in fairness because this isn’t about coaches and owners…..but the Panther social media really became a big deal at some point in the Ron era. I’m sure that group really deserves a lot of the praise for its present day standing. Think there was a thread a couple months ago on the young lady leaving that pretty much spearheaded that window. -
Kurt Warner on The Herd, talking about our new QB.

28/32, 513 yards and 4 TDs. Added on 20 and 1 TD on the ground too. Good sign. Our track record of drafting QBs that have busted them up is pretty stellar. Still don’t think some are over what Cam did to them. -

11.6% % gets higher if you don’t want a clone season with the game 1 heroics. -
It’s still a Rhule decision and it likely was going to be pretty bad one in a non-Covid world too. It's still a Rhule creation. and I don’t think the thought experiment of but if Rhule would have known Covid was coming he would have left Phil Snow and others in college really works And again, the cap didn’t force him to cut a lot of those vets you named. He wanted to. Most of those were more moving on decisions from the prior era and not cap issues. Which is fine. Bradberry was a cap one. Luke hurt. But that’s really it. Just can’t then use it as some crutch given he wanted it that way.

I guess my issue is nice percentage of the things you list…..were choices Matt Rhule made. They weren’t forced upon him or inherited. for example you stating he had coaches that had never called a play in the NFL as OC and DC. He chose that. He created that needless hurdle. So to say other coaches had it is easier because they had experienced coaches was something the HCs dictated. same with a lot do those players he “lost”. He controlled and decided on a lot of that. Bad situations just exist. Rhule isn’t unique. Not in Carolina or the league. Look at Atlanta. New HC. Think they are kicking off with the most dead cap space in the history of the NFL. That’s rough. He lost Matt Ryan. Who was playing at a higher level than 2019 Cam. He lost his most talented WR to suspension all year. He lost his most productive WR to Tampa Bay. No one cares. I mean you can squabble this year or that year ranks slightly worse or whatever but it really doesn’t matter IMO. Train wrecks are train wrecks in large part. A good coach is going to start to show he is good coach even in a bad spot. Rhule isn’t doing that.

somewhere Jimmy Clausen is taking a break from making a hilarious cameo for Matty and reading the huddle....wondering where all these diehard defenders of the subpar were back in 2010. *the Clausen cameo post might be the post of the year.

Jokes are even less funny if I have to explain the joke. The joke isn't a shot at someone's "manhood". It is a joke referencing how fiercely committed to defending Matt Rhule someone is. -

Why don't you just go let of some steam of go poo some posts lol. I mean, I thought the Mrs. Rhule joke was pretty good. -

you might need one of your breaks buddy. I think you are back to taking a message board way too serious. -

This feels like Chicago last year. The smart play was to go all in on Fields in camp. Cater an O to what he does well. Yet the coach stubbornly wanted to pointlessly roll Dalton out there. Then inserted Fields into the Dalton O when forced into it. -

I still think The Golden Calf of Bristol could of been a great football player. Just not a QB. If he was willing and Skip Bayless and the media would just of allowed him to be roleplayer. -

Ben McAdoo is not my ideal OC hire. Nor was it anyone's given he had been striking out the past 3 seasons looking to be an OC. But realistically, we weren't going to have great options to entertain given where we currently find the Carolina Panthers. I accept that part. -

are you Matt Rhule's wife? No need to answer. I respect the effort to defend your man if that is the case. -

I think I was the one that initially brought it up. It was largely just geared towards people claiming that Matt Rhule had such a hard job because he lost so many great veteran leaders and former superstars. Was largely just pointing out he had them if we wanted them. He made the choice to cut them. Luke was the only leader that walked away. The rest were under contract. I didn't have any issue with any of them being gone. I did think letting Cam play out his last season would have made sense. But you would have to draft a kid. But after that was done I thought Teddy made sense as a bridge to a draft pick depsite not loving Teddy. -
and if we put aside the fact that Joe Brady was a newb OC. He was a passing guy. Another thing that didn't fit with Matt Rhule or his 2021 Sam Darnold experiment. Which brings into question the McAdoo pairing w/ Rhule and Sam Darnold. I think McAdoo was literally the only name that was willing to take the job. McAdoo had spent the last 3 years getting rejected. McAdoo's 4 years in NY as OC and HC? He was top 9 all 4 seasons in pass attempts. So Matt Rhule just acquired another coach that believes the answer is found in the pass. His track record goes against what Matt Rhule keeps claiming he is about and we are about. Not that I disagree with the pass game being the emphasis. It should be. That is where the answers are found in today's game.

I mean, winning a single game with The Golden Calf of Bristol as your QB IMO is a pretty big accomplishment. I would give him high praise if The Golden Calf of Bristol was forced on him. The fact he wanted The Golden Calf of Bristol is the headscratcher. -
No spin. It is simply factual that we were 21st in points allowed in 2021. It is simply factual that all the best players currently on the roster existed before Matt Rhule signed his name on a contract. CMC. DJ Moore. Moton. Burns. Jackson. Shaq. * you said one of the better defesnes in the league. Now in this post you change the languge to "improved". Technically, they got worse in points allowed in 2021. They went from 18th to 21st.
-
Joe Brady is only relevant at this point in terms of how it relates to what a cartoon job Matt Rhule has done. It's not my fault you are fixated on Joe Brady as a stand alone topic and refuse to see how this is a Matt Rhule discussion. You don't want it to be. So you choose to act like this is really about just Joe Brady lol.
-
We were 21st in points allowed last year. All the best players on this team currently are all the ones that existed in 2019 before Matt Rhule arrived. CMC, DJ Moore, Brian Burns, Moton, Jackson, Shaq. Everyone else is just a draft pick that remains a question mark. Can't even put Chinn on the list now since this staff seems determined to misuse and play him now. Once it looked like we might have hit on someone special they quickly went about ending that. He did bring in some stud one year rentals but they are gone now. And they never made sense if you were actually building this thing from the foundation up.
-
I don't spend my days wishing for Sam Darnold to be good. Or Matt Rhule. We already know the answers to such. Matt Corral? Yeah, I hope he is good.
-
I mean that's not what incomptent people do. They think there bad ideas will work. Another example would be thinking the worst starter in the NFL over the past 3 seasons should be acquired for tons of draft captial (on a rebuilding team) and made to be THE guy. lol. I'm sure Matt Rhule actually thought that was a great idea and would work. But Matt isn't good at his job. Therefore his good ideas.....are often very bad. I think he thought his all college staff was a great idea, and go heavy Temple/Baylor, punting from the oppoents 30 and so on.
-
a mistake? No. A mistake isn't how you would define Matt Rhule though. We just happen to be talking about one of the many. 2 years in and there isn't anything you can say Matt Rhule does well. There is a lot you can say he does poorly. Which makes him unique. Everyone else is fired when that is the case. But we also have a bad owner. Such is the life currently in Carolina world.
-
yeah, you really struggle with some very basic concepts. Joe Brady is a talented young coach (2019 and 2020 back that thought). Will he pan out as a NFL OC down the road? Who knows. But if you were going to give him a shot in 2020 being a new OC....you would need to have an enviroment where he could have a realistic shot of growing and the O working well while he does that. Again, the Byron Leftwich example. His first OC job.....was under a OC/HC AND paired with superstar QB. Both of who could be heavily involved as he grew. If you have a weak NFL HC that was never offensive minded even in college. He then brings an all college staff with him to the NFL. You then opt to roll with the worst QB in the NFL. Give him a bad OL and a rookie RB on top of that? A talented young OC is going to look like a nightmare by design. You don't get any answers on what Joe Brady is or isn't given that creation. Maybe was would have been great. Maybe he was horrible. But Matt Rhule's creation in 2021 prohbits anyone from knowing anything about Joe Brady at that point. All you know for sure is Matt Rhule build a disaster designed to fail in 2021.
-
yeah, and it was a pretty obivous mistake. Which is kinda Matt Rhule's thing. Which is the point of talking about Joe Brady.
