  1. Sam is the textbook most talented guy in HS that ends up at QB. Generally, those types go on to college and play other positions. Which is the path Darnold was intitially recruite to go down. The reps a Trevor Lawerence type has vs a Sam Darnold has aren't even close. Trevor might be a bust. But the dude has been groomed year round to play QB since middle school. Sam is simply not a NFL QB. And it isn't going to happen. But he is a decent overall athlete hence the illusion something might be there. But you can't make a NFL QB brain this late in the game IMO.
  2. You boast about body language in a Panther production and have no clue about Rhule’s demeanor when he emerged in front of the press with the GM. I mean that’s selective intake of info and you are cherry picking the math. again, I at least can acknowledge different narratives can be presented. I just put more weight in ones not controlled by the Panthers PR/media department. That’s just me.
  3. By your logic all there is…is what the Panthers org says and puts out. I don’t deny it exists though. well if you are choosing to enter into what is essentially a lame duck Rhule year pending there isn’t just some epic surprise…..you don’t actually say that. We have seen that before here and elsewhere. You are basically arguing if they were doing it they would publicly admit it. Which they wouldn’t. Fox 2010. We all knew the deal. Well, some denied it at the time.
  4. Well, go watch the pressers with the GM after Rhule emerged from hiding if you like to look at body language and all that. There were a bunch of threads about all that too. That’s also where you can find the GM clearly reading the room in regards to how the press was treating him vs Rhule. Gantt is literally a Panther employee. And the Panthers script is all you acknowledge.
  5. Yeah, but you only want to talk about the body language from a Panther PR piece. And totally dismiss the body language of Rhule emerging unedited from hiding like a scolded puppy dog that someone beat with a newspaper. I at least acknowledge both exist. I simply put more stock in the one that isn’t produced by the Panther PR team. You aren’t even acknowledging the other as existing.
  6. Maybe he knows Rhule isn’t the guy. Which seems pretty clear. why is Rhule still here? Because maybe he wants the job to be attractive to the next HC and wants to put time into getting it right this time. Tepper had a lot wrong when he first entered the league. HC, practice facility, next stadium, etc. And maybe someone good needs to be there. Like when he got busted talking about Sean Payton. But Tepper said that wasn’t true and Tepper doesn’t lie to the media.
  7. Panther Confidential is literally Panther PR. And it’s about the only thing you can point to for your current Rhule narrative IMO. The rest IMO generally counters that. it was almost embarrassing post draft how Fitt went out of his way to throw a bone for Matt Rhule. It was clear even the GM was able to read the room there. Things have changed in Carolina. Rhule basically disappeared completely until the draft. Hard to argue IMO there hasn’t a been a shift in Carolina.
  8. name a coach who should have a hotter seat? The Vegas line simply makes sense.
  9. He literally created a staff this off-season that positions Tepper with the ability to get rid of Rhule and literally the entire Baylor entourage at any point in the season. in addition to that, there has been a complete change in language about the future vision and team building over to Scott. Not to mention the general appearance of a power structure change from Rhule to the GM.
  10. Yes, it was a lie. That’s the point. The junk they say to the media is just that. Junk.
  11. Tepper was point blank asked in that presser about Rhule’s job security and what this season meant in regards to it. He refused to actually answer it. It was like the 2nd or 3rd question. He just rambled nothingness as a means to not actually address it. He did say he believed in Rhule . Same presser he said he believed Sam Darnold was a very good QB. I still think odds are the reporting on Tepper and his unhappiness and looking ahead to other coaches is legit smoke. It’s multiple legit folks sniffing out the same type talk. What Tepper says to media is just that. Sam is a very good QB.
  12. Don’t think sacrificing Sam moves the needle much at all at this stage. Tepper is in the game to make money. At some point you can only piss fans off for so many years before it impacts your ability to maximize your dollars you rake in. The booing stadium IMO clearly impacted the front office last year. Tepper and Rhule. Think it will again this year if the boos come. Sam won’t be enough. There is no Cam card to play to distract. Tough ask for Corral. Cam coming back was its own weirdly unique thing. Even Corral showing some moments won’t duplicate a Cam type distraction IMO. Rhule is going to have to win some games IMO. Not sure it matters how. As long as he does.
  13. Well, until the football gods demand a sacrifice. That’s the game. so the question is….what body would appease the football gods if this upcoming year is bad? Tepper has a growing disgruntled fan base he is dealing with. The football gods would have demanded more than a Joe Brady last year if the Cam card hasn’t been played.
  14. I mean yeah, you got to be a pretty big Matt Rhule homer to not think he is most likely to go.
  15. still relevent in terms of the fanbase, stadium atmosphere, etc. As I mentioned, Matt Rhule was practically getting booed out of the stadium at the half way mark last season. Tepper had to go sign Cam to fix that. That was a one time rare get out of jail free card he played. So yeah, Tepper going 5 wins, 5 wins, 5 wins, and then looking to pull it off a 4th year in a row has spill over onto Rhule. Fair or unfair. Lack of winning has carry over. So if Rhule looks to be on pace for a 3rd disappointing season....fans are going to come at him sooner than last year. And Tepper's disappointing tenure fair or unfair has some bleed over in terms of how miserable fans feel and will respond.
  16. @stbugs Adding on to my post above. Well, I guess he wouldn’t be an actual coaching unicorn if he stayed employed after 3 straight 5 win (or less seasons) in a row. I couldn’t think of anyone but I find one. Had to go to the early 90s. David Shula with the Bengals went 5, 3, 3 to open his first 3 seasons in Cincy. still think in today’s climate that is a tough sell that a HC can stay employed if they were to only win 5 games for 3 straight years. it’s rare but not unheard of
  17. 5 wins, 5 wins, 5 wins…. I don’t see how he can stay employed with that. That’s making Matt Rhule a coaching unicorn. I mean saying Rhule gets fired because of THAT isn’t some Rhule hate stance. If he doesn’t Rhule basically would stand alone in NFL history. plus there is the entire stadium, fan, element to it all. BoA pretty much was done with Rhule by midseason last year. Hence the Cam PR move. Which worked. That saved Rhule’s job. There is no move this upcoming year in the back pocket for Tepper. Even if Corral impresses the stadium in Charlotte isn’t going to be okay with what would be the 4th straight season under Tepper with 5 or less wins. Rhule has to win more games. Team has to improve. Wins are the only real way that shows. And I pretty much believe the general reporting. It’s often in the ballpark when it comes to legit reporters. Tepper isn’t happy. The contract to Rhule is something he is embarrassed by. Rhule won’t be sad to leave either when it all ends. And Tepper is already thinking about new coaches in the back of his mind if this is it for Rhule. All of that has been reported on.
  18. Perimeter speed generally is used to talk about offense. IMO, I think he was talking about offense on with that line and the next sentence was on D. All part of a team summary IMO. Carolina did have good perimeter speed and defenses had to account for with DJ and Robbie. A defensive gameplan for us has to be much different than a team like Atlanta or the Jags (last years version with no speed).
  19. Counter to that is even in college w/ great OL play and when the OL has held up for Sam in the pros.....he has consistently been a bonehead in all conditions w/ the ball. I mean, I think the arguement does exist that the OL isn't what makes Sam Darnold bad. It makes him worse. But it's not making Sam be stupid w/ the ball.
  20. I mean, that is generally true. But this doesn't really qualify as hot take click bait. I mean, Rhule + Sam Darnold runback is a combo that the safe money would say ends Rhule's career in Carolina.
  21. I mean, Corral could look promising and we still not win games. I think Rhule needs wins.
  22. a straight up swap for Sam Darnold. That's the only deal I am okay with. I don't want 2 bad QBs in front of Corral and I am not ok with giving up any picks for Baker
  23. meh. You also get athletes whitewashing for each other. Like when Aaron Rodgers was taking all that heat for lying and Pat had the exclusive on it with Rodgers. And just allowed Rodgers to ramble and go completely unchecked for the most part. Pat’s show is just as much bullshit as Skip and Stephen A in reality. Both entertaining. But not much else.
  24. Yes. He he earns even more points for that. A true student of the game
