I could write Rhule's answer. You simply say you have no real regrets but wish the outcome had been better. it was a great learning experience, and you believe you are better coach now because of it. And then you simply start talking about how it helped you realize that your real passion and best fit is in the college world. Boom, done. but Rhule isn't a good coach. Nor a good leader. Nor an X and O guy. It's just bullshit. And I think his bullshit on the college recruiting tour won't sell as well as too many adults steering kids will start pointing it all out since he sort of has been exposed.
-
No. Final answer. There is nothing he can do where I would endorse it. We need to rid ourselves from everything Rhule did.
-
Rhule is so full of poo. If you are a Nebraska fan you got to hate that answer IMO. 4 year plan? You were 3 years in and there was nothing to show for it. And you were trading away draft picks to acquire veteran players. You were going after anyone with a pulse. His answer of the plan was to try to build and make a big move in year 4 was “the plan” lol. You were after freaking Watson in year 2 and 3. Stafford too. You had no plan. and Wilks is showing your were just a clown. Teams functions and looks better the instant you walked out that door. zero accountability, that’s what he told Nebraska. And that makes Rhule the worst.

I don’t blame them. Good for them. They aren’t mega millionaires. They would be looking for work in a month anyway when this season ends. Why not take the sure thing with a couple years of job security at Nebraska.

Take out the Tenn game and Spencer Rattler averaged 212 pass yards a game with 10 TDs to 11 INTs. One game vs Tenn doesn't define him as a prospect. Tenn doesn't have a superior defense. They have one of the worst defenses in all of college football. Hell, some of the cupcake opponents they had scheduled have better defenses than Tenn.
-
2nd round? I mean, I could entertain someone like him in the 4th-6th. Rattler in the 2nd round? Rattler literally got benched at OU last year and with 2 games left on the schedule had more INTs than TDs this season. He might have some talent that shines through sporadically...but 2nd round? That's crazy talk.

In my post I said multiple things go into winning a football game. I'd rank ST play as #1. It set the whole game up for y'all to have a chance to pull the upset and you did. Gamecock special teams was freaking great on Saturday. They weren't playing risky. They were playing great. Maybe you just have a Rattler bias where you can't handle people giving props elsewhere. as far as risky football? Yeah, teams with really nothing to lose can play risky football. That's not an insult. Gamecocks should of done it vs Tenn and Clemson. And yeah, going for it on 4th down on your own 30 yard line in the first quarter, going for it on 4th down at the 4? That's risky football that teams playing with house money where an L is expected (and you got nothing at stake) can do. And it worked out. Ballsy vs dumb. It's a fine line. It worked out so Beamer was brilliant. Risky football can just as easily go the other way.

absolutely. gunslingers are fun to watch. Because they lead to exciting football. Both the the good and bad variety. But that's the catch with them. Whatever there good is....they are over time going to bring equally bad play. Rattler is a perfect example of that. Our own PJ Walker, Baker, etc are versions of that too.
-
I'd say weak secondaries paired with a staff willing to throw caution to the wind (play riskier football) had a fair amount to do with his production the last 2 games. And it worked out for them. I'm sure if you did that over the course of a season with Rattler you get a lot more bad outcomes. Fine line between ballsy and dumb. Outcome generally decides.

There is nothing salty in that post. You just looking for it and trying to manifest it. I said he played good. But 1 great game and 1 good games doesn't erase 2 overall bad years. Be l like DJU throwing 4 TDs and for 400 yards the next two games (ACC and then the bowl). That's not going to erase his history the last 2 seasons. Gamecocks special teams was HUGE that game. Not enough being said post game about it. And not just the two takeaways. I mean those were HUGE. Game sealing one and the one coming off the safety. But field position. Clemson had 5 possessions that started inside their own 10. 7 additional drives that started at or inside the 25. Not sure how giving props to their ST unit is being salty
-
Rattler overall has been pretty bad the last 2 years. Not sure 2 games vs suspect secondaries change that reality. And that's really 1 great game. One good game (he had 2 INTs Saturday and they dropped one). Gamecock special teams IMO was the #1 reason Carolina won Saturday. Always multiple, but they should be listed #1 IMO. Field position (HUGE) and those 2 takeaways.

I miss a fair amount these days live. Kid sports get in the way during the first half of the seasons lately. That’s not the case right now though. but I’m not going to miss out on things to sit at home and watch a interim HC finish out a losing season with Sam Darnold at QB. Team isn’t offering enough to the fans for that trade off right now IMO. So I’ll just follow on the ticker and wait for the new era to get excited about.
-
I don’t care who Wilks plays to finish out the year. I don’t want any of these guys as backups next year. I didn’t watch today. Not watching Sam Darnold or Baker. I’m ready for the new coach search and a new page. I’m going to intentionally watch one more game of bad QB play with my college team this Saturday and I’m done this year watching my teams. I’ll just watch random good games.
-
I’m still not sure Sam is any better than PJ Walker I do not want a single QB on the roster outside of Corral to be here next year.
-
I mean it works if you recruit a super stud QB and he actually pans out. They have been just a QB short the past two years. And they probably are in the CFP with just a decent QB the last two years (not even a stud). He has one of the best prospects on the bench. A real head scratcher there why he is waiting on using him

Bama, Clemson, Ohio St. Could argue they are the weakest versions in a decade. Those have been the big 3 the last decade. Michigan and UGA IMO only look great in the context of this season. I think they get stomped by top teams of the past decade. Pros and cons to parity. I think it is temporary under the current structure. I think college football still has a lot of work to do with NIL. It’s basically pay to play and professional sports currently. And some programs are really going to take advantage of NIL and the transfer portal in ways we havent seen fully play out yet IMO. Handful of programs are just going to write checks others can’t keep pace with.
-
I think there is an argument NIL/transfer portal is bringing parity to big time college football. There isn’t a group of dominate teams in college football this year. Generally there are a handful that are just on another level.
-
It can’t be understated how bad DJU is. 27% completion against the Gameocks (who aren’t good on D) and had a monster rush attack to play off of. I try not to bash college kids but he got a lot of NIL money. So he is fair game. Kid needs to transfer out if he wants to play anymore football. Clemson has to move on. How they have won the past 2 years with him is really an amazing feat. Worst QB in the ACC.
-
We have won 10 games the last 2 seasons and pulled it off with no QB. It is what it is. Congrats on the win. Good news is Beamer makes it feel like a rivalry again. That pretty much has been dead. Which is a good thing. Hopefully y’all ushered in the Cade era. I’d prefer it start next week in the ACC championship. Don’t care about winning it he just needs the reps of that and the bowl game.
