  1. I mean, you just listed a bunch of holes right there. Saying we will just fill them doesn't mean it is that easy. Just start with offense. QB is a massive hole. The entire QB depth chart. We still have holes in our receiving game at WR and TE. We have a 27 year old journey man RB and our run game completely was nonexistent vs teams that could play the run down the stretch. Seems like a pretty big red flag going up. We got DB holes. We got LB holes We got DE/pass rush holes. Which is why when we stepped on the field vs a really good team like the Bengals down the stretch. It was non-competitive from the start. The narrative that this is now basically a win now team handed to Frank doesn't fly for me. Our schedule being so weak had a lot to do with us making it to 7 wins.
  2. Panthers also had the 27th hardest schedule in 2023. Wilks played some very basic football down the stretch. Roster still has a lot of issues. They just aren't as evident against bad teams paired w/ solid coaching (Wilks).
  3. They traded CMC immediately after they fired Rhule. There was no cat to let out of the bag. Tepper just didn't account for how horrific Matt Rhule actually was. And that just running the most simplistic stuff highlighted how the NFL is in fact designed for teams to go .500. Takes special people to go drastically north or south of .500.
  4. Facebook and Twitter mobs generally are a poor reflection of the masses on any subject though. wanting Wilks is a fine take. Lot of the social media stuff are casual fans or frankly not actual Panther fans. Not all. A decent chunk. Most hardcore fans that fill the seats year in and year out…..aren’t likely to poll heavily toward Wilks being the guy we should hire. Probably a more even split or leans offensive IMO.
  5. sounds like Fox was a consultant used to help Bradley as they tried to change schemes up this past year.
  6. I don't see him as DC but I could easily see him in a similar position to what he was doing in Indy.
  7. That wasn't Reich's record though. He was 3-5-1 last year in Indy.
  8. By what metric? Reich has had a couple winning seasons in the NFL as a HC. Including back to back. Gone to the playoffs a couple times as well.
  9. John Freaking Fox with the photobomb in the back.
  10. Now, let's see who he hires as coordinators. Then I will decide to get excited or not. I fear Tepper forgets why he fired Ron Rivera. And might over correct after Rhule blew up in his face. I don't want us to be the good old boys coaching tree of retread names we have seen all over the league.
  11. again, you are hyper focusing on Arnold. As I said, you can call him a ham and cheese sandwich. It could of literally been a sandwich. We lost the trade. A 3rd for CJ was dumb given the red flags and their inability to deal..... and that we are supposed to be rebuilding. Supposed to be. And this example is just a part of the bigger picture criticism of how our roster and assets have been managed (given we were supposed to be rebuilding). When your model of rebuilding is trading draft picks to acquire the waste that several horrible franchises don't want......I would say you are doing it wrong. That has been the Panthers of late. Then on top of that odd duck strategy, they went through a window where they were adding win now one year Super Bowl play rentals. Nothing about that shows our front office employs people with an effective plan to build from the ground up.
  12. You said he had easily the worst stats of any MVP in the last 20 years. That's just false. It doesn't need much explanation. 2015 Cam Newton - 45 total TDs. 4400+ total yards. That's more production than several of them. Just start 20 years ago. Which was your timeline and work your way up. 2003 McNair - 28 total TDs. 3300+ total yards. Cam Newton accounted for more TDs than 7 previous QB winners and then there were RBs. So yeah, he easily doesn't have the worst. Because he had better stats than a handful of them.
  13. There is no mental gymnastics. You can call Arnold a stale ham and cheese sandwich. It doesn't matter. A stale ham and cheese sandwich and a 3rd round pick.......was Carolina getting taken by Urban/Jags. It's not drooling over Arnold. He was average. Hence me never calling him anything but a roleplayer. Something this roster doesn't even have. So we made a hole bigger. Which then leads to more mistakes. Overpaying a TE that isn't even as good as Arnold lol. A rebuilding team gave away another draft pick and this time a 3rd. For garbage. We lost that trade no matter how you define Arnold. It's just one of many examples of Fitt's bad. It's only relevant because it pertains to the poor job of managing the roster and our assets.......for a team that was suppose to be building from the ground up.
  14. meh. Arnold was clearly a solid role player here on our roster. But maybe we have different definitions of what that means. No one is claiming he is a Tony G. But if you give up a solid role player and a 3rd round pick......for a red flag player that the worst team in the NFL can't deal. You got taken in that deal. No amount of bashing Arnold really changes that because just giving up a 3rd for him was a bad deal. and yeah, I blast Fitt for mismanaging the ENTIRE roster of a rebuilding team. I think he deserves plenty of heat with wasting reps with Super Bowl rentals like Gilmore and Reddick too. They made no sense. They just delay us from addressing and repping guys. Part of what helped Ian get a contract he didn't deserve is because of how weak the TE spot was. And trading Arnold made it weaker. Yes, trading a roleplayer made the position weaker because it is a non-existent spot on our roster. If we kept Darnold you don't have to overpay Ian. Because they are both the same type player. I'm not a Fitt fan. Mute point I guess. He is here for at least another year at least. Probably 2-3.
  15. We (a rebuilding team) traded away a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th round pick…. for a caliber of QB that you can acquire in FA for nothing. And a red flag DB the worst team in the NFL didn’t want and was having trouble dealing that doesn’t seem low risk for a rebuilding team. Seems like you flushed your assets down the toilet.
  16. I mean, there is some fools gold going on there to a certain degree. Not trying to take away from what they did. NFL is tough. But most of our respect came against horrific NFCS teams or some of the worst teams in the NFL against the run (Seattle/Lions who were the 30th and 29th worst run defenses). Wilks saw 4 opponents that had a top 10 run defense. And 3 of those 4 completely shutdown our run game and Foreman to the point of nonexistence. 21 total rushing yards vs Steelers. 36 total rushing yards vs Ravens 64 total rushing yards vs Bengals We did have success from the 10th ranked Broncos So overall, Foreman and Carolina couldn't run the ball against teams that actually defend the run. Our production was well below the averages those good run defenses were giving up too.
  17. I mean, if we just talk about the highlights of Marty Hurney. He is a great GM. you are overselling some unknowns really. Take Marshall. 600 yards and 1 TD in 2 years. Who knows what he ends up actually being in reality. I mean, I have always been a TMJ guy but you can't call that a hit yet. Horn to date makes Jeff Otah look great. It is what it is. Otah is the boards favorite bust whipping boy and reality is he was off to a better start than Horn has been. Foreman is a 27 year old journeyman RB. He isn't the answer to anything. Our QB position isn't fixed. Our WR position isn't fixed. Our RB position isn't fixed. Our TE position isn't' fixed. We have LB, DE, DB holes. You selling this as a QB away roster? also, you have to acknowledge how weak the schedule was when Wilks made us "respectable". Good teams would blow our doors off.
  18. Then Fitt shouldn't have a job present day IMO. That's my point. I don't get why we are fixated on holding on to a GM that was mixed up in such a poorly run front office from the old era.
  19. yeah, I'm not one of those fans that has done cartwheels as Fitt has traded away our assets (a rebuilding team) and then traded down to acquire more picks because of the mistakes and how bad it looked. That's not a positive IMO. Overall, I'd rather just play the draft lottery with the highest and best picks I got. Not saying I'm opposed to trading down in the right moment. Fitt got caught that first year trading down like crazy because our front office was looking clownish after trading away our picks. Just a complete dysfunctional front office IMO that last couple years. Which is why I don't see the mental gymnastics to keep Fitt around. Best case scearnio he was a yes man to a shitshow. We should just rip the entire band-aid off and start over.
  20. Cool. Then the argument is Fitt has never been anything but a yes man. And if that is all he has been.....there is no reason to have that weak of a GM carry over into another era.
  21. What’s worse? Over paying fan favorites? Or overpaying trash like Robbie Anderson, Sam Darnold , etc.
