Is that old saying really true anymore? at least in terms of the really good ones. sure feels like most WRs that turn out to be good in recent history....show it pretty early. Sure feels like it is skewing more 1-2 seasons now.

because it became painfully evident to this group they don't have the folks around Young they need. nor probably the scheme. Young still matters. And Young needs a legit RB of the Cohen mold in the arsenal. Whether Cohen still is Cohen is the unknown. Think it took a couple weeks of real football for our braintrust to actually realize things they should of this offseason.

is covering Steve Smith with a prime Cam Newton throwing him the ball the same task for a corner with Jimmy Clausen throwing the ball? Steve Smith might be the same. The job the corner faces isn't the same. The plays and throws the corner is going to have to be able to defend are just flat out different. Everyone is covered in the NFL to a degree. They are two different assignments for the corner. I don't see how you want to erase the QB from the discussion. Sort of like Tyreek Hill talks about. Tons of dudes in the NFL can be top tier WRs. It's about the system and who is throwing the ball. I mean, you could shut down Justin Jefferson if I am throwing the ball to him. Because I won't be. I'll be getting sacked or throwing INTs into no mans land.

the RB we signed a couple weeks back. The one who fits the mold of a Bryce Young offense. The type we should of added this past offseason. But given we waited so late we added an injured one that hasn't played since 2020 to try to rehab back into shape. but old Cohen was legit. No telling what he looks like now.

his last actual NFL rep was over 3 years ago. I would assume it takes legit time to get your body for the every down car wreck that is a NFL snap. And it's why I would pump the breaks on Corbett being a game changer for us this week.

I think a lot of cable cutters pay more now. They frankly now forget how many subscriptions they have. Prices are all going up. Everyone is cherry picking things to force consumers to want and need more services. Easy to justify adding something that is just 10 bucks or whatever. Streaming is sort of like AirBB. It was awesome at first. Now it just bologna. Makes more sense to go back to cable and regular hotels.

I think the Panthers got calls.....and the offers are now nowhere close to what the largely known Rams one was....and the Panthers have egg on their face for 148th time. So now they can't be interested in it. because you know this entire front office is operating at this stage on trying to look smart and mitigate how stupid they look (because they don't look smart). And dealing Burns for way less than they were just offered a year ago continues to highlight how poorly they manage assets and opportunity.

Renfrow is a beast in the right system that wants to take advantage of him. Best pure slot player in the game IMO. He doesn’t really suit our needs. Do we heavily go to the slot? Yes. It’s basically the primary read. And Renfrow gets murdered overplaying that game. He is a complimentary piece to an O. Always has been. And that’s how he shines. If you made him WR 1 which is what our current O does….it doesn’t work. good player in the right O. That isn’t us.

Yeah, Patrick Mahomes attacking you with Tyreek Hill is a different animal than Jimmy Clausen attacking you with Tyreek Hill. so I ask you, point to the game out that best makes the argument Jaycee Horn is a shutdown corner. Because that’s not a hard proposition if he were worthy of that tag. Horn just hasn’t been on the field to make the case he is a shutdown guy. Horn just hasn’t played enough football. Simple as that. If you anoint him a shutdown corner then the term is meaningless. No one outside of the huddle is talking that.

Corbett coming back will be big in time. I think people should temper the difference out of the gate. Dude has been on the shelf for a long time. He just started practicing 3 weeks ago. Anyone seen Cohen take a legit snap yet? It takes time to get in every down car wreck NFL shape. And probably no spot on the field takes the every snap punishment an offensive lineman does. It likely is going to take Corbett some time to be the guy we last saw on the field.

Matt Rhule has never in his career seen good offense. That's why he never made sense in the NFL.

I think Herbert is vastly overrated. I don't have a comp of why that is good to use. The best one I got is an old college one that most won't get. But Taj Boyd at Clemson IMO is it. He was right before Watson. Not play style but they have the same fault. Taj Boyd was very good. He had a very good team. Taj Boyd was just not a good QB anytime anything actually mattered. Moments or games. That's Herbert. When it matters, he just isn't a good QB.

fun question.....best game of Horn's career that actually presents an argument he is a shutdown CB? Horn has barely played. And when he has, he hasn't shutdown anyone of note. He is either "shutting down bad a WR" or is seeing bad QB play. Is he good? Yeah. But no one even knows what would happen if you put him on a great WR with a great QB throwing the rock. And next year will be year 4 for him. I don't fault guys for getting hurt. I think he would play of he thought it was smart and could. But I'm also just done w/ Horn. You need guys that can play. He has proven not to be that for all 3 seasons.

I think that is largely fair. I think most people do view NYC as largely Manhattan. And it sucks outside of like your first time or two seeing it. I would assume New Yorkers largely view NYC much broader than outsiders do. Outside of taking my kids up for a visit, which I sadly plan to do eventually, I hope to never go back to Manhattan.

NYC is a great place to visit once or twice. After that, I got no interested in ever going back. I keep having to but I dislike it. Manhattan, at least.

Nah, that cycle featured... DC Ron Rivera having the #1 ranked D unit in the NFL DC McDermott was just fired by Philly (and basically the scapegoat for the disappointing post Jim Johnson era D). McD's stock was down. That what if scenario largely started IMO to emerge once they had both been in Carolina for a couple seasons.

Missouri fans/alumni really weren't pleased during his 1 year there. But I can actually see Wilks being a better HC than DC frankly.

Exactly. The location of our franchise has nothing to do with why we suck. The decision makers in our front office are the reason. That's why good teams are good and bad teams are bad ultimately. Most things aren't very complicated. Why we suck isn't. We have bad decision makers. Starting with Tepper (and the scope here is just NFL football. I give zero poos about how smart he is in other aspects. He is a football idiot).

young rich single athletes are still going to prefer the ones in Miami, Atlanta, NY, LA, etc.....because it's about more than that for them. Whose going to be in those Charlotte clubs? Answer is nobody. Whose going to me in the Miami ones? Other high profile people. but none of that is why our team sucks. Guys play for checks ultimately. And the majority of the league isn't a high profile super star single 22 year old. And those guys get drafted.
