REPORT: Panthers and Brian Burns not at all close to extension
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Guaranteed money Reddick 30M, Von Miller 51M, Chubb 53M (all recent deals) Bosa 122M Bosa has a vastly different contract. It’s on a different planet in terms of money . Because he isn’t just a pass rusher. -

lol, what are you even talking about Prior contracts are always relevant. They just factored into Bosa’s new deal. It’s how they got to that number. For Bosa….his brother Bosa, Mack and Garrett contracts all played into what his deal ended up being. His had to top theirs and did. I came at your with actual numbers. Guaranteed money of Von, Chubb, Reddick, etc and the VAST difference of that and Bosa. That’s why there is no deal. That’s not a 3 million difference. It’s 60+. And that’s why there is no deal yet. -
Best coach on those teams was Phil Snow. I wouldn’t have hired Rhule without him coming.

I know the guaranteed money Chubb, Von Miller, Reddick etc just got. I know the money Bosa just got. thats a 60+ million difference in guaranteed money from Bosa and those guys. Guaranteed is what matters most and you ain’t even talking that lol. That’s what matters most. And that the primary discussion in most big deals. -
Good college football beats good NFL IMO. But college has way way way more bad games. This isn’t a good college matchup. It’s just relevant because of Sanders.

Rhule about to pull a Bishop Sycamore and trot PJ Walker out at half. Best QB play Rhule has ever been able to generate way way way back at Temple.

It’s about guaranteed money. And that’s not a 3 mill squabble. Bosa doubled what top tier pass rushers like Burns have been getting. That’s a 60+ million guaranteed difference -
Both big. One just set up that FG for Colorado, the other Nebraska was in FG position.
-
Nebraska QB must be a Panther fan. Out to get his payback
-
I don’t disagree. But a player playing both ways all season is so odd in modern football (at 2 look at me positions) and being paired with Sanders might just do it.
-
That was a bogus flag though
-
We went 15-1 with a historically unique unicorn QB having an MVP season with elite D lead by a future Hall of Famer. Unless you got something crazy to put on the field (which we did)….that was a WR corps you lose with
-
I think Deion is invested in getting him in Heisman talk. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up not looking out for him big picture.

UGA and Ohio St struggling a quarter in to nobodies

Yep, backup come in. You start encountering coaches showing mercy to not run up scores. Gets weird.

Bump this thread when Miles Sanders is the main reason for winning
CRA replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Miles Sanders has had one good year as a rusher behind the best OL in the league….while being graded the worst receiving RB in all the NFL at the same time by PFF. he could of used reps. And he could have used them in our new offense. -

They forget because Sanders hasn’t been good in that role over the last 3 seasons. Frankly bad in 2 of the last 3 seasons. -
If you did last year in a vacuum? Burns was probably 3rd behind Brown and Luvu in all honesty. but that’s just one year in a vacuum

The guaranteed money certainly matters. -
Falcons vs Defense. It's Going to Feel Like Christmas

I would expect the #3 rushing O from last season that went out and improved their rushing toys…..will limit the opportunities to sack Ridder. -

It’s not cherry picking. It is what it is. He had one year of double digit sacks. Burns isn’t coming off some crazy Von Miller caliber rookie contract play. Burns isn’t even matching journeymen pass rushers like Reddick. and people are talking about cartoon money being cool. Front office made a mess of this. Because we have a weak front office. It’s largely the same one that has been making a mess of it all the past several years. Switching out Rhule for Frank doesn’t change the fact more issues exist in BOA that weren’t named Rhule. Nothing we can do about Tepper. Fitt should have gone with Rhule. -

I can name several that hit the open market in the last couple years. And there contracts are out there. And the league isn’t and hasn’t been paying those types Bosa money. The pass rushing specialist tier is a different pay tier. And heck, there are some more well rounded ones than Burns that have signed very recent deals. -

Panthers worked themselves into a bad spot no matter what at this point. Burns is a largely one dimensional pass rusher who has logged double digit sacks once. And forced into a corner to get out whack in the pecking order of pay. -
Teams are dumping more money into high end WRs and DBs than OTs.

well, there are basically two groups IMO on that. Group A - says the Panthers are in a full blown rebuild Group B- says we aren't. I'm group A. Which makes not taking that trade mind numbing. I mean, you can't trade literally every human in a legit rebuild. But you certainly take fantastic offers. Rebuilding still requires certain foundational aspects to exist. Because you can't groom Young up if you are complete trash. It would just be never ending bad positions he is always in. So you need some defensive guys for example. Because you don't want your D to be league worst as you build Bryce up. Because he will always been in bad spots and playing from behind. You still need guys to help show everyone how it's done. I just feel the it's not a rebuild crowd's justification of why we aren't' a rebuild....means there is no such thing as a rebuild if applied elsewhere.
