Panthers abandoning Wofford for training camp, will be in Charlotte
CRA replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t know. Lot of players have seemed less than enthusiastic about then whole deal. Specifically, the older players with families and those that have spent time elsewhere. who wants to go sleep in a college dorm for a couple weeks away from your family? I don’t think all 6 are putting their athletes in college dorms either. -
Teams should have to kick off to us from their own endzone

I bet players are happy though. There aren't many teams left doing that type stuff. -
Burns would 100% look better on a stacked team. But Garrett, Crosby, Bosa, etc would all look better here than Burns does. Because they are better and have more well rounded games. Burns needs to be setup to an extent for his outside speed moves.

Only sensible option would be for me to run the team from the huddle message board as a GM/HC. Day 1 - I'm trading for every Clemson Tiger in the league. No matter the cost. That's right folks, Trevor Lawerence is coming to town. Day 2 - I will add one Gamecock to keep that masses from being able to claim I only sought Clemson players. Clearly, that couldn't be true if I bring Captain Munnerlyn out of retirement to be my 5th string DB. Don't question the move, keep in mind I had to get Trevor Lawerence and company so my resources are slim. And yes, yes, NC, I will represent your teams by adding 1 player from UNC. It will be whoever the random player is that you moan about shouldn't even make the league. Well, he shouldn't but resources are slim and I'll have to pay a lot of guys the league min. But that's it from NC. Day 3 - unlike prior admins, I will embrace the Keep Pounding motto like no one has ever done. I'll wear it on my gameday shirt. I will often ask people why they hate Sam Mills as my response to any questioning of decisions I make if I happen to be wearing said shirt. FYI - I will always wear my Keep Pounding merch. Draft - Huddle poll. Boom. If CFP has a committee that decides championships that often include random people like politicians, sports writers and the likes.....well, why not you! The good people! Gameday - I'm new age. Forward thinking. A different breed. I'm like the Miami HC but even crazier. I'm bringing my recliner and case of beer to the sideline. By the 4th quarter and 10 beers in I should be at my peak of gameday management. I'll be calling all sorts of creative stuff. Press Conferences - I ain't got time for that. I'll need to here on the huddle complaining about the Panthers

The Athletic: “‘Hunger Games’ culture” at BOFA

I don't know if they are good friends or not. Maybe they are. Maybe they aren't. All old heads in the NFL, know all the old heads. Lot of folks know and work with each other in the NFL they probably ain't very tight in reality outside the scope of doing a job. Just like everywhere else. I mean, the NFL is a tiny network and place in reality. McCown was employed with more than a quarter of the league. I mean, his network of people who worked with is huge. He likely has worked with coaches on every staff in the NFL. In all honesty, Frank taking it back was the best thing that could of happened for Thomas Brown IMO. He shouldn't be sore about that aspect. Could be sore about never being able to do what he wanted despite being called the OC. I personally still think it was odd those firing were initially tied to Caldwell to a large extent. If Caldwell was such a big Frank/McCown guy. I mean, at that point Caldwell would be agreeing to be the face of a Campen inspired movement? anyway, at this rate of how the pooshow is going.....we might actually get it confirmed who is who and more details and events. -

Maybe. I think there is something to this Caldwell/Tabor duo that emerged personally. Remember, THEY are the ones that fired McCown. That's how Carolina initially pimped it. Tabor then sort of wanted to squash that narrative. Always thought it was weird they sort of wanted to plug Caldwell as almost the co-interim at first. And their first move was to fire the guy directly in charge of the footwork. Caldwell also has way more sway than Campen. If you wanted to know what was going wrong....who would Fitt most likely talk to. The former HC/guy overseeing it all as an advisor or Campen. Well, Tepper was advised of what someone thought. -

maybe it has been discussed, but who do folks think is the O coach that went with Fitt to Tepper? Caldwell Brown McCown I would think it would have to be one of those 3. McCown isn't here. So I think that actually makes him less likely to be the guy. Tepper seemed to agree with the insight. That the footwork is an issue. So I doubt Tepper allowed the guy who was "right" to be axed. I'm thinking Jim Caldwell. Who also got a slight bump. They make sure to note him every time Tabor is mentioned as interim. -

we are about a Washington Football Team shitshow level where we have to bring in Ron Rivera to be the face and stabilize us -

I said when. I know you aren't there yet. Goes back to why I wanted Fitt fired with Rhule. Because you then had a GM and HC paired up.....that have unique and separate timelines. Different worries. I'll make exceptions for great HCs or great GMs. None of which we employed. Going up for that first overall pick meant more for Fitt and Tepper than Frank. Because they were coming off the Rhule era stink in Carolina. They needed "us" to view things and them drastically different. -
Browns are the least thrown against team in the NFL. Cowboys are the 3rd least thrown against team Garrett is top 5 in sacks. Parsons is top 10 in sacks It's only stopping Burns

as I have told you, open arms whenever you are ready to come to terms with Fitt. when Tepper was talking about his point guard and being able to invest so heavily elsewhere, he was talking like a GM sold him on the idea. And I still think the Jaycee Horn pick was a Fitt creation too. It's why I was scared we would waste a top pick on a DB. Fitt coming from a franchise that won off D and secondary play. That was the Seattle blueprint for success. -

I've talked about the overcorrection since the say we fired Matt Rhule. Tepper going with Frank was an overcorrection. Then icing on the overcorrection cake was to force a staff of everything on it. You want young talent? You got it. You want old dinosaurs that knows everything sitting on top of the young talent? You got it. You want people that could only be employed by Matt Rhule? You got. Does everyone have different ideas? Yep. Is stubborn old Frank just going to do what he does largely with a cast of random parts and staff directed upon him? Yep. Then the GM was like.....you want some names? I'll just go sign whatever name is available. Do they fit what Frank/Bryce would be doing? Nope. -

they say lots of things. They often say them because they want to set the narrative and how things are viewed. No one ever says the owner made me in real time for example. Even when that is the case. They will address those things in real time by saying spewing a bunch of bologna. You "know" what Frank said based on what the Panthers wanted to you to think and know. Owners often dictate realities. It's always spun that they didn't. Frank had that in Indy too. In real time, the Colts set a narrative of what they wanted fans to think. Reality, many things were just demands the owner sold as TOTALLY Frank's idea -

seems like just the other week, I was telling you I thought it was Tepper that directed Frank about how the staff had to look and be. Frank didn't come in here and hire the staff as he thought it should be structured and who was hired. everything has a been a forced bad marriage on so many levels. Coaches, to players to scheme. Just a bunch of random parts. -
See, I don’t even view him as a versatile pass rusher. The more I watch dudes like Crosby and the likes….the more one dimensional Burns looks in his pass rushing. Got guys like Trent Williams talking about the deep bag of tricks guys like Crosby have…Burns seems overly dependent on that outside speed rush. And without pressure up the middle Burns becomes invisible as a result.
-
FSU likely isn’t one of the top 4 best teams. But you had to put them in. You simply can’t exclude an undefeated power 5 team for a bunch of 1 loss teams. That is the committee imploring too much subjectivity….and in a year where the other power 5 conferences weren’t even that great vs prior years.

If you were GM, how would you use our that first pick in round 2?
CRA replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
Marty was flat out better. Marty always had good things to hang his hat on. Marty flat out drafted some dominant players. Not even close if you look and compare Marty 3 years into the role here. Marty was dare I say….good….in that early window overall. -
Pretty much.

I’m sticking with my prediction he ends up walking for nothing….just like Peppers
-
Evero is a good DC. Some of it is just Burns. While he is largely a one dimensional edge player…..even his strength gets too predictable and one dimensional in his pass rushing. I’d love to have him if I had great inside pressure. But without great inside pressure Burns shows his limitations. It’s not the opposing DE IMO he needs the most. It’s DT play to push the QB back….because Burns is over reliant on the speed rush outside and gets pushed back behind the QB.
-
Problem is we are poorly managed… we also have almost zero upper end talent. trading him will also highlight how bad the front office handled Burns (because it will highlight how dumb they were and how poorly managed the asset….and these people know everyone views them as idiots already) we aren’t out of the woods on a horrific deal being made still
-
pitch counts are normal. He should of been on one. But a pitch counts allows you to play the entire game essentially with sporadic work. When was Horn's last rep? What was his rep distribution. I just don't think this is horrific slander and a bad job by the reporter. They ended up sitting him for some reason. Who knows what was. I got no clue. Could of been something Horn reported to them and they were being cautious. Might as well. These games don't matter. But the coaches flat out decided he needed to be done.
