average people, don't want to be internet celebrity for a week and deal with all the bad that comes with it.
-
kicking game being the difference maker. Patriots have more TDs.
-
it's the NFL in 2024 though. I think your argument would be 100% spot on years ago. Players don't get the time they used to get. Plus you have to factor in the new HC angle. I don't see how Bryce can suck again next year and get a year 3 as our starter. New HC will be done with Bryce. New HCs got no time for the prior eras guys. And no one gets the time they once did. Coaches nor players.
-
NFL owners don't care Tepper threw a drink at someone. Lot bigger sins than that have been going around the owners circles. They also don't care Tepper is bad at his job....and they probably love that Carolina has turned into a place where you can get great deals.
-
I mean, the title can be whatever you want. But if he retains all his duties but except for 1 carve out....it is what it is. How folks in house going to few that? Not sure why we want to make the new GM job any more unattractive than it already is. We should just hire a competent GM. A competent GM doesn't need a proven bad GM doing half his job. Plus, our next GM/HC are going to be tasked with building a culture here. Removing any sign of the Fitterer era Panthers.
-
I mean, y'all are advocating for Fitterer to be co-GM. That's what keeping all his current duties are excluding player personnel is. Good luck finding a good GM to come in here. It's basically advocating for a similar approach Tepper/Fitt thought up for our new HC....but this time for the GM spot. We got an all star front office now!
-
well, I still say a competent GM can come in and handle everything. We don't need to carve out part of their job and give it to Tepper's lap dog. Job is already unattractive enough. That's just one more body in house to side with Tepper and not stand against him. And Fitterer would really owe Tepper for that. so yeah, it could happen. Everyone IMO should be 100% against it.
-
I mean, they can fine him. But no one is going to be talking about Charlotte/Tepper much once the Bucs game hits 0:00. NFL talk is about clicks, playoff talk is all that is going to be going on. Wasting your time on Tepper after the season is over isn't where the money is for the talking heads. I think if it happened earlier this season, Tepper would have been forced to deal with it. Instead you get a week of no comment and Tepper just ignores it publicly.
-
why keep a problem? him being "nice" just doesn't sell the argument. maybe the new GM shouldn't have to deal w/ a leftover horrible GM that also is a David Tepper lapdog? I'm sure a qualified GM can take care of whatever folks want carved out for Fitterer to pointlessly have and keep.
-
only a game left, got to think that is the big factor in Tepper's lack of reaction. Tabor just has to get through a week of pressers and then no one outside of Charlotte is going to care. Heck, people in Charlotte are ready for this season nightmare to end. Tepper is likely fine with that.
-
yep, money is just money. Heck, money actually can make a person's flaws even worse. I'd say that is a near certain. Lot of horrible people got money. Money also is a universal inflator of one's abilities. Well, I made money doing X......so I can now do anything just as well as I did X. Tepper's biggest mistake was not treating what this was, what it was. He was diversifying and growing his wealth. He obviously couldn't resist the play toy factor of the NFL team.
-
Scott Fitterer has been horrific here. He doesn't need to be in the building lending his thoughts on any subject. When you have been as bad as the Fitterer era Panthers have been.....you don't keep that around and change the job title. He has been a big part of the problem.

Tepper getting absolutely destroyed on WFNZ
CRA replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
let's at least set the stage properly. post ban - 2 wins. all of our wins. So we still have been better since the banning. post ban - Tepper threw a drink at someone. Which IMO is basically a plus too. Because more of the nation is now aware of what of a poo owner we have. And the only way we possibly see change is for the masses to hit Tepper's ego very very hard to get him to slink away into the shadows of this team. -
I mean the floor is already set IMO at a quarter million. But that's still chump change and means nothing to Tepper. Fine and suspension isn't about hitting his pocketbook.....it's about hitting his ego. Which he needs.

A review of Scott Fitterer's drafts (spoiler alert: they suck)
CRA replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think Tepper pushed for a DB in the top 10. I don't think he pushed for a run centric LT. I don't think he pushed for TMJ, Mingo, and on and on. I think he pushed for Bryce Young. Lot of this is just Fitt. Big stuff Tepper. That's my take. -

I still think Tepper does listen to folks to an extent. I think he listens to Fitt to some extent. I don't think Tepper has come up with all these nightmare moves on his own. end of the day, as has been for some time, Fitterer is horrible or a BEST case scenario completely pointless/worthless. -
Tepper just married her. I doubt the average billionaire has things setup to all go to someone he just married. Tepper has a bunch of kids.

Matt Rhule (while horrific) was never the catch all boogeyman some wanted him to be. Which is basically a pattern us fans take. And Matt Rhule called out the bullshit narrative fans were running with that just because he had a break glass emergency line in his contract (that really all coaches should officially or unofficially have)....which people claimed meant that he was making all the personnel moves. Everything was placed on Rhule. You are only willing to draw that line in the sand while attempting to rehab your image if you are correct. Because the Panthers easily could of leaked and pushed back derailing his PR tour. They didn't for a reason. Because Rhule wasn't the all powerful calling all the personnel shots. A lot of that bad moves under the Rhule era were because a poo coach was paired with a poo GM....and Scott has always been responsible for a sizeable chunk of the nightmare for BOTH of his coaches. No excuse for Fitt not to be fired with Rhule. Tepper probably hires another bad GM but there would have at least been hope he paired Reich with a GM who shared a vision and goal. Clearly Fitt and Reich were never on the same page. Different visions. Different job security concerns/roles. Fitt and Tepper needed that #1 overall pick. They need to sale a bunch of smoke and mirror nonsense. Frank never had power to fully do whatever he thought should be done. From talent to his own staff. Frank was a Ron/Fox. Which means he was destined to get us to .500 if you just left him alone to do what he wanted. They were trying to rehab their stock with the fanbase/team. Reich didn't need it. Everything under Tepper has been a predictable nightmare. -
Jaycee Horn is Jeff Otah 2.0. That’s the real Otah comparison. Otah essentially walked on the field and was Pro Bowl caliber from the jump. We just couldn’t keep him on the field. Icky being a better run blocker than pass protector doesn’t make him Otah. Otah was a monster.

Only 1. He expanded the Hall of Honor. So we can celebrate the players and accomplishments he has nothing to do with
-
he got a lot of Peppers to him. Same complaints IMO. People wanted some visual emotion and they just weren’t giving it…not in their DNA
-
And he was locked up long term….and we kept Burns. Who we don’t want to sign for what he wants. it’s amazing how bad Fitt and this front office are

Justin Fields has had special moments ever since his was drafted. Even as a rookie in a horrific spot. That rightfully brings defenders and hope with a young QB in a bad spot that remains the issue with Bryce. He has moments of competency. That’s what we got instead of peaks at something unique and special.
