I mean, he across the board has been better in the postseason. Every year. Every year. I mean, you seem to think there needs to be a HUGE jump in order to say it. He is too good in the regular season for a good jump on paper to exist. I mean, especially the deeper dive ones and situational ones......show Mahomes is almost uniquely unstoppable to date in the playoffs. He ain't the same dude. I mean, he uniquely stands alone in what he does in the playoffs. Just a human nightmare to go up against in the playoffs. that loss was the O. For that reason alone. Just flat out silly to think Wilks should of done more and that it wasn't on the O blowing that game. They lost it in the 3rd q. The 49ers O.

I mean, I don't think it is controversial to call him better in the postseason vs regular season. He is better essentially across the board statistically in the postseason...and that generally is vs tougher defenses There's 35 quarterbacks in NFL history with at least 10 playoff starts. Mahomes is the only one to improve his numbers from the regular season to the playoffs in each of these five categories: win percentage, completion percentage, touchdown percentage, interception percentage and rush yards per game. and then if you deep dive into his playoffs stats....he has some freaky stuff in there. Mahomes is 7-for-7 converting playoff drives with under a minute left in regulation and trailing by seven or fewer points. He is the only perfect player in those situations since 2001. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is 5-for-11 (46%) and the league average is 40% in that span. He's 5-2 in the playoffs down 10+ points (rest of NFL is 8-55 since 2018) Patrick Mahomes the best closer since Jordan, the comeback king like Brady and more mind-blowing playoff stats - CBSSports.com

you don't need one for losing a SB in OT. But Kyle needs one after blowing 3 double digit Super Bowl leads. And that's why Wilks is the scapegoat. It's about the narrative setting in on Kyle, not needing one for just that one game in vacuum.

he certainly might of that week he dropped that interview with Katt. So they might of cherry picked that window or something. I could definitely see him being #1 that week. Athletes are sort of flooding the market at this point. Well, everyone is. Everyone got a podcast. Everyone starting one. From your favorite athlete to the soccer moms down the street. Someone probably about to start one to recap the huddle postings of each day.

Playoff Mahomes ain't regular season Mahomes and I think sometimes you have to look into the # of offensive possessions. They scored 27 vs the Bills on 9 drives (and that includes a kneel down drive). Through 9 drives vs the 49ers they scored 6 points. I mean, eventually, if Mahomes/Reid get enough shots.....points will come.

I mean, that one interview certainly went viral. Current rankings show the Kelce Bros ahead of him of in terms of sports guys. Joe Rogan holding down the actual #1.

NFL teams always scapegoat. Nothing is more predictable than that. Often, you can see how org structure themselves to always have them ready to go.

I mean, he should be a first ballot HOFer. I think Luke is technically the best football player Carolina has ever had. Others played more entertaining positions. Luke technically the best at his craft vs how good others were at theirs.
-
I think Luke essentially achieved his full potential in the NFL. In terms of being a LB. He was as good as it got. Could probably argue Ron was very good for Luke and Davis. LB play excelled here. Which would make sense given our HC was a LB and defensive guy.

KC had only 6 points after 9 offensive possessions vs the 49ers. For example, KC had a total of 9 offensive possessions all game vs Buffalo. The following IMO is the game. This is exactly when they lost. Biggest issue was the O imploded in the 3rd. 59 second drive off clock despite an INT in KC territory. 1:43 off the clock the 2nd drive.. Only 1:02 off the clock on the 3rd drive. Then you lose your 4th drive with a muff punt and tell Mahomes to go 19 yards. None of that is Wilks. That's O and a little ST with the losing icing on that cake.

I'd be fine with every single one of them leaving. Except for Luvu.

not sure he even has the #1 athlete lead podcast

shoot, never a full scale rebuild? .... never an actual rebuild in reality on any level IMO. I guess there is an argument for last season.... But we hired a dinosaur HC and dinosaur consultants. Traded away draft picks. Spent the most money of anyone in free agency on a RB in Sanders. Brought in a bunch of old or tired vets like Theilen, Chark, Hurst with playoff and win now talk. That's not a rebuild.
-
I mean, doesn't seem to be something that has bothered this org. Because they did it with the next QB after him too.

sports is sports. the better team doesn't always win. KC is a well coached and one that catches a lot of breaks IMO. That's sports. I mean, I still don't think KC was the best actual team in the NFL this year. Just like I don't think Denver was in 2015. I wouldn't even say Denver was the 2nd best on the year. They were there at the end and won that game though. They get the trophy. You can replay that game, and I'd still take the 49ers.

Deadpool trailer looks really good though. Walking Dead to Game of Thrones to Disney.....IMO they are repeating the same patterns. Easy to take something people love and make a movie/TV show about it. Everything is awesome at first. But time goes by and you get further way from the easy start.....and once you make it your own, doing your own unique spins and twists from the source material that people loved or making it "better"....it eventually ruins it for the original fans of whatever it was.

HELP: Won the office football pool, need to pick the prize
CRA replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
end of the day, Roman Harper is a Saint and not a Panther IMO. -
man, Marvel was so fun at one point......all good things come to an end. I'm still holding out some hope for Deadpool 3. But the rumors on that haven't sounded good. Lot of Disney thinking they should stick their nose in it and that they know more about what the people want than the Deadpool folks.

personality issues aside. I think there is a little bit of a comparable with Dan Marino when it comes to Rodgers (largely just the talent vs end game resume). Could argue both were the best pure QBs of their era and yet didn't really have the success you would think should come with it.
-
Steve Wilks inherited what he inherited. I'm talking about what he chose to do on offense. He opted to play football from a prior era as much as possible. And when he was able to do that, THAT is when the OL looked good that season. It helped that schedule was slammed full of opponents with bad run defenses. They looked good run blocking vs bad run defenses. Passing and play action off heavy run. Not much else. It's a passing league. You need an OL that excels in that. It's a QB league. You need an OL that can hopefully get the job done once you finally find the QB everything should be built around. I mean, we lost under Wilks by double digits where we still didn't attempt more passes than runs. We won a game rushing 41 times and completing 5 passes. Won another rushing 46 times with 11 passes completed. Another win was 46 runs with 14 passes completed. Wilks did his best to make us as least embarrassing as possible. Props to him for that. But this OL isn't up to snuff and hasn't been for some time. It's weak doing what the NFL is designed to be in 2024.
-
OL was decent when asked to play football like it was 1990. To an extent that's still a problem given that's not what you want to do in the year 2024.

he was picked dead last in the 7th round and this is his first season as the starting QB. He is getting paid 2 peanuts and a cracker jack. I don't care what the Skip Bayless type shows want to talk about. No one here is having the elite convo. I know I'm not. If you want to make a long list of why they lost that game.....he isn't one of the top subjects/reasons. And that's who you are spending your time talking about and fixated on. Brock Purdy has and continues to overachieve. He isn't why they lost the Super Bowl. The folks around him turning it over, missing kicks, out coached after halftime, etc. are why they lost. YES, the team around him is why they made the Super Bowl. And they are the ones who lost it and didn't get it done.
