  1. for all Tepper's many faults......Tepper does move on quickly from his mistakes. That's really can't be denied. Problem is Tepper moves on from mistakes by making more mistakes. I think Tepper will move in a different direction if Bryce remains largely the same guy.
  2. I think draft status immediately goes out the window to a degree once you really step on a football field on Sundays. So the fact that Bryce went #1 doesn't really matter at all at this point. I mean, to an extent it is going to matter in terms of how big of a chance a FO gives him. But as far as expectations and being judged? I don't think Bryce should really be treated any different than a 2nd or 4th round pick in terms of judgement. Bryce Young was always an anomaly at QB. No matter what the hype was in college. As one coach said, if you are going to win w/ a QB bringing what Bryce physically brings to the table....he better walk on water. I think he could be a decent starter in a good place one day....but he just doesn't have the god gifted tools IMO to thrive in the NFL. And his mental QB DNA isn't that of a Brees/Wilson.
  3. Theilen handicaps the slot position too much to be the locked in Y. He isn’t a slot WR in today’s NFL. it kills all YAC potential. He is just a sure handed TE essentially.
  4. options seemed skewed. Some options would be using the 33rd on a WR and some are using other picks in reality.
  5. It’s not a good idea. It’s a great idea. It’s a deep and good WR draft.
  6. I mean, Bryce looked horrible. We should have spent a 6th on him. He is better that whoever our 3rd QB will be. Steelers acquired Wilson and Fields for less than we spent on Sam Darnold. It’s what they have won every season for a decade plus and we are the worst in all pro sports. they do smart things.
  7. Idiots are everywhere though. Climbing the ladder isn’t always about how smart/good you are either. Lot of the smartest/best folks don’t climb ladders as fast as others. That’s just a fact of life. Some people are just good at advancing themselves and working there way up in an org. It’s why across so many professions people that shouldn’t find themselves at the top get there.
  8. Well, I think last season presents a lot of questions about Bryce Young. Not only his arm strength but the type shots he is and isn’t willing to pull the trigger on. That’s me at least. I’m big Mike fan. I’d be nervous to sign him because of his age and health but I just don’t see how he pairs well with Bryce on top of that. You can’t be risk adverse to take advantage of what Mike does
  9. Mike is awesome at what Mike does. now after watching that highlight reel….can you imagine Bryce Young taking those throws that allowed Mike to make those plays?
  10. Morgan for me is the 2nd best ILB in Panther history. And we have had some good ones. I feel confident on his take on the front 7 of the D and probably the OL. but saying that, do feel Morgan had to be involved in the DJ Johnson nonsense. But that could have just been Morgan looking to add a nasty rep guy to a team that is full of nice guys.
  11. He has suited up for only 16 of his last 34 games. I wouldn’t call Mike fast though. He is good. His best strength is just giving him a shot downfield to make a play. Always has been since college. But I don’t think he is the best pairing for a risk adverse QB
  12. I put Morgan in the Minter tier. A Panther great. Not NFL great.
  13. In real time last year….many people here were crediting Fitterer for putting together a roster that was better than the 2011 or 2003 one. this is the honeymoon window of any season. you can sell it either way….as a great new era change or a predictable bad Panthers about to repeat
  14. It’s a WR heavy draft. An ideal one to add a WR. It’s highly likely the BPA is going to be a WR at spots…..and we need solutions to develop Bryce beyond this one season TE draft last year. WR this year. If you aren’t taking advantage of what drafts have to offer and chase at other spots I don’t support that.
  15. Yep, the only McCaffrey we would take is the poor man’s McCaffrey….Will Shipley. He would actually round out our backfield. And 4th and mid round RBs can play. Almost everyone is going to be a developmental guy there
  16. I mean, an SEC team went 2 consecutive years without having a QB pass for 1500 yards. Went 3 without having one throw for more than 11 TDs. Like I said they were pulling coaches to play QB. Hybrid WRs. That’s not a lot of college teams. Much less someone in the SEC I mean, once Rattler got there and let him throw at the end of 2022…..Leggette emerged
  17. Yeah, I think playing the odds you look at Johnson as a short term answer. Anything can happen but anything can happen isn’t the most likely. He is a diva WR who wants stats and we got him for a year in a trade. I think a prudent org would manage your roster decisions as if Johnson is short term aid to a struggling QB. Obviously Theilen is a short term band aid. TMJ and ISM just bodies. So I’m still in the camp we need to be building our roster and looking for long term answers. It’s a passing league.
  18. teams do trade good QBs though. Sometimes, ones that are still top tier. And they will often trade away the right to the hottest QB prospects in the draft. I'm not saying it's happening....but Harbaugh is a bit of a wildcard.
  19. maybe. but it's hard to really figure out Jim is doing. Tanking the offensive roster in Herbert's year 5 to develop young WRs?
  20. I mean, there is nothing here to actually blow up. the big argument from here last year was they FINALLY were investing in the offense too. That's why I don't think a lot of outsiders are viewing this as much more than rearranging the chairs.
  21. Hard to figure out what Jim Harbaugh is doing Overnight that offense went from QB- Herbert RB - Ekeler WR - Allen WR - WIlliams TE - Everett to.......Herbert
  22. I know we haven't been living in a world where pass rushers thrive. To me, Reddick is the one who really exposed Burns as overrated. Reddick basically has been the same dude no matter the circumstances the past several years. And he came in here and outperformed Burns on the stat sheet and to the eye.
  23. That's the problem. They have been and are serving their primary purpose for him. Sports teams are one of the best vehicles for the uber-rich to park money in recent history. The valuations get more insane every year. Which is the whole point of Tepper being here. They just aren't winning. Only hit Tepper is taking is a PR hit really.
  24. too early. I mean, I do think Dave learns things. I think he has shown that. Has he learned what it takes to be successful in the NFL yet? Would have to say no until proven otherwise. Tepper clearly learns some aspects of what doesn't work. That's why after failure he generally does something distinctly different than the previous attempt. Sometimes I think it's the overcorrections that get him.
  25. He started turning it on at the end of the prior year when you know….the Gameock QB actually started to throw the ball. Prior to that, a raw/developing WR player didn’t have much to a place on bad pass O. Like I said that starts getting into the window they were pulling coaches to be the QB at Carolina. Everyone’s timeline is different. 2023 matters way more than 2021.
