Did you know Luke Kuechly could pretty consistently tell you exactly what the offense was going to do when the ball is snapped? Opposing QBs are on record he would call out essentially every play they ran. I think way too much stock is being put in that one comment. We got guys that know exact route someone is about to run too. It’s just about stopping it. And a QB not throwing to a route the defense won.
-
Lots of teams are running the same poo over and over. That isn’t unique. Some of that is used to setup for when you don’t. Defensive players often know exactly what opponents are going to do. If you could pause a game Luke Kuechly would tell you everything about to happen. Sam needs to do a better job of not locking on so consistently of where he is going with the ball. And not throwing when it isn’t there. I think Rhule even discussed in the presser that DB jumping the same route last week. You only comment on that because it was discussed before hand….

Cam had some memorable stinkers in year 2. But he was tasked with way more than Sam is tasked with.
-
what metrics would rank him as above average QB? You have to cherry pick games and certain stats IMO to set that narrative. He hasn’t been average in the NFL. Throughout his career he has been a below average starting QB.
-
Sam did that in NY too. He wasn’t bad every week. He had good stretches there too. 5 games in….6 passing TDs, 6 INTs and put the ball on the ground 4 times. That’s Sam. Sam is going to be Sam. Just like Teddy is going to be Teddy. Sam isn’t a rookie. Sam’s issues existed at USC…they showed in NY and they have shown themselves here. He is a talented athlete that isn’t a great QB.

Very Discouraged By Rhule and His Comments After the Game
CRA replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ve always argued Rhule made his name in college essentially playing similar to Fox and Rivera. It’s not apples to apples but it’s always been in the same ballpark. Rhule teams and success have always been about playing to the defense. That’s what his college teams did. Great defense. Okay offense. and it is an approach that is good for pulling teams out of the gutter. Rhule did that. Fox and Rivera’s brand of football are good for that too. Never suited for much more than being okay. But Rhule only won 1 conference title in college. Which isn’t an impressive resume overall for a college to pro HC. -
Could Fields have some issues? Sure. Even Trevor did coming out. Would be curious to know what the concerns were…..and then hear them kicking around all Sam’s issues. I think Sam looks pretty much like NY Sam. No real change IMO. The outcome is just better given our team is so much better around him. And Sam had good stretches even in NY. I think the retelling of Sam’s time in NY is often of a fictional player that never played well. He did. Then he would have games like today. It’s what he does.

Watching Rashawn Slater be great makes me sad and angry.

New GM is kinda proving why drafting a DB at #8 isn’t the ideal value move…. Need a stud DB? Gilmore cost a 6th to acquire. Need a young stud? Henderson cost a 5th to acquire. and he has openly voiced how no one is willing to talk about offensive lineman. *Horn definitely looks awesome. But just in terms of positional value..corner at 8 might not of been the most ideal decision for a team with so many issues upfront and without a long term answer at QB yet -
This season. The one we are only 5 games into and played a couple chump teams. I mean, even people like Mike Greeney who acknowledge Sam is in a better spot and the Jets coaching sucked…..still acknowledge Sam has been showing a lot of his concerning issues through the good start. Odds remain Sam will be Sam. He was never Jimmy Clausen
-
Two things can be true. Sam and Robby simply aren’t a good fit together. Never have been. And it’s why Robby and Sam look exactly like the NY duo when trying to connect…. The low success rate is only a Robby issue for Sam. Sam has strong rate of success when targeting anyone else
-
No, I just don’t get down with the wild swings where someone is awesome and then 3 games later trash. for example, I won’t get down with those who will be talking about overpaying Jackson this week. He had a couple good games. That doesn’t define him. Joe Brady is a 2nd year OC with a good overall scheme. Yeah, as I literally said he needs work situationally….that comes with reps and time. That was literally the 21st game he has ever called in his life. Yes, the OL is poo. That remains the point. It’s a talent issue. Give the greatest OC a poo OL and the talent will make his play calls look horrible often.
-
if you want to argue OL and QB play isn’t the most important thing in the NFL? Have at it. You can’t scheme and playcall around bad OL play paired with an average QB for 17 games. Your talent issues will just get exposed eventually. And who you play will have a lot to do with how that works out.
-
Sam Darnold still has all his NY issues. That’s not all on Joe Brady. and a rookie Chubba in his second start hit a 100 yards on the ground behind this OL. Brady is young and situationally needs work. His scheme overall is clearly good.
-
Well, it was a bad day to have a bad day. Missed opportunities.
-
Joe Brady doesn’t get to throw the ball. Brady’s overall scheme and playcalling are fine. You can only do so much as a play caller. Situationally he needs some work but as a 2nd year OC he is just fine. The OL and QB make or break playcalling.
-
They never had chemistry on the field. The random long TD showed up on sportscenter. But Sam here and in NY always has done better not throwing to Robby.
-
He isn’t a decoy. He is the 2nd most targeted player on the roster. He doesn’t have production this year because he has a 40% catch rate when Sam throws at him. the connection has never been great, it was talked about this off-season
-
Sam and Robby never had a good connection. The completion % when targeting him was always bad in NY….and it is glaringly bad here vs when Sam throws at literally anyone else on the roster. I still maintain the smart move was to see how things unfolded before extending Robbie. We just drafted two WRs and have a super stud in Moore. And that cap space could of been used elsewhere going forward.
-
Cam is a pretty big task. I mean he is the biggest superstar we have ever had. That’s not an easy jump.
-
Situation defiantly matters. I mean, I don’t think Sam is really much different of a player today than last year. What is dramatically different is the scenario he is in. You put Tom Brady on the Jets right now and he would suck. Jets might be a little better but it would knock him down several pegs. Same dude though.
-
Sam’s floor is NY Sam. It’s what he is minus good coaching and being surrounded by good playmakers

Random bump into a player story…. I once bumped into Olindo Mare. One of the brief post Kasay kickers. I literally bumped into him. My wife and I were late and in a hurry to an important event speed walking to our car (keys in hand) and she was fussing at me about something dumb… and as I turned around to say something smart to her I ran smack into Mare. Bigger guy than you would think. I’m not exactly small and he sent me crashing down to the concrete. As I looked up Mare clearly felt bad as he noticed and commented that in the process of knocking me down to the concrete it caused my rolex watch to get scratched on it’s face. When I went to examine the damage it caused me to drop my bugatti keys down a sewer drain. What are the odds. Talk about having an even more pissed off wife. I told Mare not to worry about it. I should of been paying better attention to where I was walking. He helped me up and offered me a ride. Super nice of him. I declined. Told him I would just uber over to Micheal Jordan’s bday party. But I always liked Mare for offering me that ride. He totally didn’t have to do that.

Gamecocks could not win a single game for 4 consecutive seasons and those fools would still have that stadium packed jumping up and down to sandstorm. It’s kinda weird how supportive the collective fan base is. I mean the last time the Gamecocks actually won something was the 1969 ACC Championship….

as the years have gone by we have been blessed with the ability to buy larger and larger homes…. YET…my man space shrinks upon every move. I basically now have a bathroom I can lock myself in at this point to hide from the wife, kids, animals, and random people at my house.

Anyone else got a bad feeling about this Eagles game?
CRA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think they will be able to run on us. and I have never forgotten Fletcher Cox almost single handedly beating us after being a last minute activation that was hurt all week. I think we win. I don’t think we will feel great after it. But that’s also just how football is.
