  1. yeah, he is one of those freak athletes IMO. Where he is more great athlete than great football player. his track speed has always bumped his perceived ability up a notch IMO. Those guys are always frustrating.
  2. I always wanted Jackson to be the nickel. We have a history of being forced to move guys ideally suited for the nickel to the outside. I think his gambling nature is better suited there.
  3. I basically judge Sam based off of 2019. Not a rookie. Org not in full tank mode. he went 7-9 with a really bad team. We have gone 7-9 or worse with better teams around a QB. So that's the Sam hope.
  4. wikipedia says he just turned 28 this month.
  5. It might not be because he dislikes Sam specifically but the scenario he finds himself in. It could just be he is in the last year of his contract coming off a breakout season. It's a business. It's not an ideal spot to go into this season like that. Players want some security when they think they deserve it. Imagine if Robbie broke his leg week 2? It's a perfectly reasonable stance that Robbie's team could of already been in serious talks with the new GM about Robbie's situation. In fact, I would think that is likely a certainty.
  6. it isn't a huge reach that just MAYBE a WR who thrived without Sam Darnold....might not be thrilled behind the scenes that his next contract/future is about to be tied to Sam Darnold. Again, this is Robbie's last year of his contract. Sam from the Jets is back in play to set Robbie's future after his breakout season. The only narrative, is trying to figure out a reason why the GM would do such a thing. And it's not a huge reach if that is the premise we are discussing. It would be a huge reach if I just randomly suggested it without that premise IMO. Again, I advocated to sign Sam Darnold right when the Watson thing blew up. I was comfortable with it before many. It was the right call at that time. And I am not a Sam hater. I just don't hype up that move as more than a Teddy replacement.
  7. heck, if true? Robbie is already going into this season on the last year of his contract. He was a 1000+ WR last year. He overproduced given expectations last year. The best numbers of his career and the only year without Sam Darnold. There could be beef over that with the new GM and Robbie's camp. I mean, it would make sense from a business perspective if you are Robbie to not like that position. So basically his next contract (here or elsewhere).....will largely be influenced by how he looks with Sam Darnold this season. Sam essentially sets up Robbie's next deal/future. Robbie could be wanting an extension before the season starts and not liking that position. that would probably be my second guess after just selling high.
  8. Yes. That is the story. Which doesn’t make tons of sense on face value right now. I questioned it being true. But if true… you ask why. So I threw out some guesses about what a why could be if true. and if true, we wouldn’t know the dynamics behind it if all we have is statement alone that he was looking to deal Robbie. So you can’t make a blanket statement of fact that Robbie had no part in it. He could. We wouldn’t know at that point anything….outside of the fact their is an undisclosed reason the GM seeks to part with Robbie.
  9. I’m just saying the story makes no sense. But if were true….I think you have to ask questions about the why? That’s all. Because there would have to a why. My best guess was the first one. Just selling high because Joe Brady’s scheme inflates WRs. Saw it with Samuel. So you get something for Robbie because you know you aren’t going to spend money on what his stats might suggest down the road. if that isn’t it? Well, I’d still wonder about the reality of Sam coming here. Given he was the QB of the bad scenario Robbie got out away from . Maybe Robbie is just PC publicly. Lots of guys are like that.
  10. Joe Brady’s scheme is going to make WRs look good. Which Robbie and Samuel are likely examples of that in some fashion. So it could just be an opportunity to sell high. Makes me curious about Robbie’s actual take on his old Jet QB following him though. If this is true. I mean he was glad to get away from it. Wonder if there is something to that dynamic.
  11. Talent driven league. McD got fired and looked bad in Philly....not because he couldn't coach but because the Eagles lost their defensive talent. Carolina had the #7 ranked D after McD left and his D was ranked 27th his first year Buffalo. Then after that, Carolina lost DL talent at Buffalo added it.
  12. I mean, say what you want about Ron....he is a proven great defensive guy. Team to team, scheme to scheme. Ron can work up a defense if he has the bodies. But it's also the NFL. And if you ain't got the bodies to have a great defense....you ain't got the bodies. You got to have a DL in the NFL. Rivera's defenses got weak when the talent got weak on the DL (especially the middle of it). Some places you just can't get weak at and then think you can overcome deficiencies elsewhere. Ron wasn't a great HC. But he is a great DC IMO.
  13. If the Jags are out the Cowboys and Cardinals are probably the most entertaining to the nation.
  14. It’s not that serious. But yeah, overall in the sports world that is viewed as a Red Sox thing. It just is what it is.
  15. I’m referring to the Sox. they made it a thing. It is what it is. And we look like a fanbase trying to copy them IMO. And it isn’t even a cool song. Doesn’t really matter what they technical dates claim. It’s like USC. No matter what history technically says….Southern Cal owns it. It just is what it is.
  16. Yeah, if Horn is a full time stater he is going to take some legit lumps. Which is fine. Not sure everyone will be prepared for that though. Present day, I think he is kinda a niche corner. His overall game is going to take some time to develop. Corner is just really hard. And unlike some positions….no one misses your mistakes/lumps. Easy to miss Derrick Brown learning. Hard to miss a DB.
  17. hell, it would make more sense to sing some James Taylor IMO after a win….than trying to steal something that everyone knows is Red Sox “thing”.
  18. Jags probably are the most interesting with the easy storylines to push 1. Urban 2. Trevor 3. The Golden Calf of Bristol
  19. it's largely positional for me and not so much about the specific players. And about roles/load. Easier for a spot situation WR to come in and look good vs a starting rookie DB. I think Horn would look much better as a rookie in spot situations where we could just play him to his strengths. The assumption I am going with is he will be a full time starter.
  20. Vet edition: High - Brown Unsure - Darnold Low - Slye Rookie edition (just in terms of the 2021 season and play/impact during their rookie year) High - Marshall Unsure - Horn Low - Christensen
  21. I’ve always thought it was kinda whack to try to adopt that as a Panther thing….given everyone knows another sports franchise made it their thing before us.
  22. and Grier doesn't have wheels. Which I think really helps young QBs who are struggling w/ game speed.
  23. The OG Clipboard Jesus earned 17 million dollars to just chill out with Rivers. It's a probably the greatest gig in the NFL.
  24. So basically, Touchdown Jesus is going to be Clipboard Jesus. I mean, Charlie Whitehurst had a 10 year NFL career. That's a great gig in reality.
  25. but it does kind of unintentionally say something about Grier.
