Sam Darnold comes in at No. 19 in Chris Simms' Quarterback rankings

a lot of coaches would have looked bad coaching Tannehill and Darnold as rookies in the NFL IMO. Gase sucks. But a lot of Tannehill and Darnold sucking is because they hadn't put the time in at QB vs other players. remember, like Sam....Tannehill wasn't exclusively groomed as a QB his whole life. Tannehill played WR in college. -

I don't think 3-5 are very bold. -

and I view it similar to the Panthers. You can start Hill or Winston. You win about the same amount of games. You just get there differently. Which is kinda my Darnold vs Teddy thought. We would win about the same number no matter who played QB. The games we win/loss might be different but we get to about the place in the end. Sam will however be more entertaining and therefore the better option over Teddy. -

I mean the money 100% mattered last year. Winston wasn't jumping him. And it still matters. But it isn't the same. He didn't literally just pay Hill 140m. You would have different arguments you can make now vs then as well. I still think he starts Hill because of ego and money. But I think he could attempt the argument I presented earlier. and I don't care about either. I as I said, I lump them in the same tier. -

I'm merely talking about last season. Payton paid Hill 140 million and was really criticized for paying him that much. He was starting over Winston last year. No question about that IMO. That massive contract isn't fresh in the discourse now. I could see him being able to pull off a "wanting all his best players" on the field narrative. Starting Winston and featuring Hill in the O. And then if things get bad just put Hill back again. I put both QBs in the same tier. Completely different players. There pros and cons are very different but not sure I would say one is really better than the other. Probably your pass O has the highest ceiling with Winston playing QB and Hill in the slot. -

The Saints paid Hill a massive contract before they added Winston. That set the depth chart pretty easily IMO. Payton would have been blasted if he then started Winston. Because he was already criticized for paying Hill that much. -

for all the poo PFF talk gets....their list is better than Simms'. -

Simms moved Brady up from the 15th slot to the 10th slot. Built in clickbait. and he probably will finish his list with something whacky too. Make up some bullshit argument why Josh Allen needs to be ahead of Rodgers or some poo. -
Rappaport critical on Sam Darnold during McAfee Show

He would qualify IMO. I don’t agree with it but you can win from “coming back” from sucking- 22 replies

I don’t even think the Lions have won a postseason game since we became a team. this is also a nice reference. Not your criteria though but it ranks teams by wins from 2000-2020. Last 2 decades. Carolina is at 18th place. Not great. Not the gutter though. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thelistwire.usatoday.com/lists/ranking-all-32-nfl-teams-by-records-from-2000-2020-dallas-cowboys-new-england-patriots-green-bay-packers-pittsburgh-steelers-baltimore-ravens/amp/

I'll take a 2011 draft featuring a Cam Newton over a 2009 type class though. Best pick of that was our 7th rounder.
-
Joe Person just put up an article with The Athletic about Darnold not looking sharp and that Rhule claimed that was "the plan". anyone know what that is about? I hadn't heard anything about Sam not looking good.
-
Just a wording issue I guess more than anything. no one will ever draft a better FL QB than The Golden Calf of Bristol most likely. That's what he is/was. Best FL QB of all time. They could easily draft a better NFL prospect from FL than The Golden Calf of Bristol though.

I mean, Horn is a very nice prospect. Best Gamecock corner of all time? Nah.

4 Questions for the Defense Going into 2021
CRA replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
We lead the league in cover 3 last year. We will play more man. But I doubt we actually play a lot of man. More coming from where we were doesn’t translate to a lot vs the rest of the league. At least in 2021. . -
He seems like a win now rental. Which isn’t us.

Speaking of the guys who call Panther games: Steve Smith, Sr.
CRA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, if a goat had to be named between the two….it’s pretty easily Shaq isn’t? -
Talib being a bitch is why we have “ice up son” Intentionally trying to injure Philly Brown in the Super Bowl because he was embarrassed he couldn’t cover a no name WR.
-
Mahomes is a freakshow QB. McNabb wasn’t in that tier. None one was calling 50 something completion percentage Donavan a GOAT at the time or now.
-
I mean, Andy Reid was constantly criticized in his tenure in Philly for abandoning the run. That was the Andy Reid knock. is the argument now that wasn’t the case? I mean that is rewriting history IMO.
-
Competition was also tougher in the postseason. Tougher opponents make you pay more for bad playcalling. Andy was pretty consistent in Philly with his bad habit of abandoning the run..... and it was consistent theme and discussion while he was in Philly. Probably helps to pair a play caller with Reid's habits with a freakshow at QB.
-
Reid’s play design historically has been better than his play calling. Especially in the Philly days where he would forget he had a talented RB in Westbrook.
-
Well said. Brady knows how to scheme up a good O. But he has to develop as a play caller. Takes time and reps (like a player).
