I wanna see them DJ Moore one on ones. He is the test of where Horn really is IMO. He is our most physical WR and best all around.

Joe Horn is not old enough...for the ref to keep that flag in his pocket

Well, damn! I didn't know Grier's bro was a celebrity

yeah, my 10 year old kid isn't itching to watch a movie that came out nearly 20 years ago. if you brought up Pirates of the Caribbean he might say something like....oh, I think I saw something about that on Disney+. But I haven't watched it. You ask him who Johnny Depp is? He has no clue. No reason for him to. Johnny Depp currently is some washed up looking homeless man present day that isn't relevant. No one is talking about the Pirates movies. It isn't a thing for his age bracket. You allow him screen time to watch what he wants? He will ask to get on you tube and watch someone else play a video game. Maybe Dude Perfect or something. I don't get it. But that's what it is. -

My son doesn't know who the fug Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are. Those are nobodies. He is a 10 year old. He knows who Steph Curry is. That's a celebrity to a 10 year old boy. That's why he wants to wear Steph gear. Odd that multiple companies from the NBA to Under Armor produce Steph merch to sale to the masses if he isn't a "celebrity". And no matter who comes along later you likely will never convince him anyone can ever be a greater shooter. That's how it works. And Robert Downey Jr is nothing more than Iron Man to him. That's it. And that's all he likely will ever be to him. -

Ok, but it seems like a weird bar. That only megastars can be considered celebrities. Then Tyson Fury, Luca Doncic, Mike Trout, Logan Paul, Jojo aren’t celebrities. I mean fuging Blippi can be called a celebrity. It’s a niche. Like most. and Floyd isn’t even Mike Tyson on your scale. Everyone knows Mike Tyson. Floyd isn’t even that in reality. -

The Paul brothers are a household name for certain age brackets. Outside of Oprah, Micheal Jordan, territory…most celebrities are a niche thing. Tyson Fury and Deonte Wilder could walk up to the majority of Americans and they wouldn’t be recognized. -

I don't consider Will Grier's brother a celebrity. I do consider some internet personalities celebrities. That Floyd fight only existed because The Paul brothers are celebrities. The internet isn't a fad. Unless TV was a fad. I mean there are a tons of actors who aren't celebrities. Same applies to the internet. The upcoming generations dictate celebrity and it's evolution IMO. -

Celebrity evolves just as entertainment does. The Paul brothers are defiantly celebrities. The one just duped a bunch of people with a Mayweather "fight". I mean, that fight only happens because he is a mega celebrity in the current world we live in. Old farts not knowing or caring doesn't change the fact he is a celebrity. Younger generation could give 2 shits about some old celebrities too. -
I am sticking with Rhule and company have managed the QB position poorly from day 1. Feel free to view it otherwise. And I’m sticking with they know it too.

If we would have had the 3 spot we would have been guaranteed a QB. When we acquired Darnold there was talk all 5 could be gone.

like Panther PR post draft where everything that happened was exactly what they wanted and everyone agreed on it all. despite following the NFL for decades and knowing that stuff rarely plays out like that. Teams want different guys. Some people win. Some lose in those battles. Everyone is rarely happy. Joe Brady ain’t looking at the last 2 drafts and going…yep, masterful work. Nor are a lot of other guys. Is Phil Snow? Maybe. I would be if I were him.
-
Pretty much all of that I still agree with. That’s what we did in large part. In that moment. You are taking one post in a vaccum and choosing to ignore the rest of the conversation. And people in the building were lobbying for Fields. Time goes on and you adjust. what you leave out are all the other posts. Which talks about how Rhule and company look if they make the right call (IMO) of drafting the QB who ended up falling in their laps….it draws even more attention to the poor job they have done with the QB spot. They discover Teddy has almost no value. He is going to be a massive black eye. Because Fields would have fallen in their laps….and everyone would be looking at them paying millions for Teddy to play in Den and the draft picks pointlessly given up for Sam in hindsight. And now you have to actually bring in another real vet to work with Fields. And I firmly believe passing on Fields as just the FO trying to save a little face in the short term. and my take/fear of them passing on Fields and taking Horn the week of the draft was exactly what happened. They are called opinions and views. People can have them. I think Michael Jordan was actually punished by the NBA when he “took a year off” to play baseball in his prime and immediately came back to win 3 more rings. Bulls and NBA PR didn’t say that. They would say no way. That’s crazy. Well, organizations only tell the public what they want to tell them…and the league and world back then was different. You seem to struggle with people parading their own hot takes on sports….as testifying in court on some matter of importance. It’s not that serious. And half the fun of it.
-
maybe you have me confused. I wanted Fields. I thought that was the correct call if he fell despite them already being forced into Darnold. That’s different. and you can go find my posts talking about my fear of the newly acquired Seattle GM drafting Horn. Which he did. And that remains not a diss of Horn himself. It remains a diss of the Rhule era which has handled the QB scenario poorly under Rhule. Which wasn’t a thought that came about post draft.
-
Just because you don’t endorse it doesn’t make it a discredited view. and it in real time it was discussed. Back when I supported going after Sam Darnold because of the corner Carolina was backed into (they made it impossible to keep Teddy and the talk at that time was all QBs could be gone).
-
If we had the #3 spot we likely never get Darnold…..and we draft Fields, Lance, etc. they were forced into Darnold given they didn’t have a pick that guaranteed any QB in the draft and Teddy couldn’t remain on the roster. Then drafting a QB puts the entire FO under further scrutiny for management of the QB spot when one fell. Which wasn’t the perceived likely outcome when they got Darnold.

“So I decided right then when that happened that we don’t have a quarterback in the NFL, we’re not going to win. I’m getting out of here. I’m not staying here. I’m not going to be responsible for this. That doctor didn’t know his ass from a handful of sand. Drew Brees plays 15 more years, wins a Super Bowl, goes to nine Pro Bowls. And we didn’t take him in Miami, where he wanted to go. Some things you can’t control. When we left there nobody understood why. Well that was why. There’s always a reason.” I mean Saban isn't going to hang around take Ls. We all know that. But in the NFL, if you don't have a QB.....you are going to take Ls. How great you are at coaching the sport isn't going to matter. He is right about that. Miami gave him Joey Harrington.
-
was he accountable or sloppy? I personally think the org handled Teddy so sloppy they were forced into a corner where they simply couldn't have him remain with the team. that is coming directly after they handled things poorly with Cam.
-
they have different play styles. Same tier NFL QBs. But yes, when all Saban could get was Teddy/Darnold types....he ran back to college football and has discussed it at great length now that he is back in college. Joey Harrington? 3rd overall pick? Drafted by a horrible Detroit organization? That scenario sounds kinda familiar. Let's give a busted but highly drafted QB a fresh start. Miami brought him in for Saban. That was the last straw for Saban. He left.
-
Teddy was exactly what Teddy has always been. Rhule to date deserves criticism for the way the overall QB position has been handled to date. The Cam thing was weird. Then he let cheaper alternatives to survive a season walk out the door like Allen and Heineke. We drastically overpaid Teddy to be a bandaid. Then we pointlessly threw Teddy under the bus forcing our hand to go sign another version of Teddy. Then we had one of the top QBs in all of college football fall in our lap and were like.....nah. I still like Rhule. But the man deserves some scrutiny at QB IMO.
-
Rhule is a great college coach. But there are lots of great college coaches that won't make it in the NFL. Different animal. Rhule has never built teams and won in the manner required to in the NFL though. Saban went right back to college when he couldn't get a QB in Miami. No QB? Saban said it was impossible to win in the NFL and he wasn't hanging around without it. Miami opted to bring in Teddy/Darnold types. He said bye bye. Great QBs are rare. So when you have a chance to possibly grab one you need to take the shot. Love or hate Fields.....that was one of those lotto tickets a team without a QB has to take. NFL runs through the QB.
-
Rhule didn't win in college with great QB play. He has never relied on it. Two years into his NFL career he appears to be sticking with his same formula. Prioritize defense.

Unvaccinated people are how the variants are created. Look at the covid numbers today and what the Delta variant is doing across the country. And there will be more variants to come and no one knows what they will end up doing…..but we know the vaccines weren’t created specifically for them. Odds are the next variants will start to pop up in the coming months. And they could be greater threats or lesser threats than the original. That’s what variants do. And if the new variants go around the vaccine successfully enough …..the globe is once again right back where it was. I mean think about if unvaccinated folks allow this to be a problem for a half decade? It will mean a lot more than an embarrassingly high death toll for modern society. It will mean more than vaccinated getting infected with news strains. Our supply chains are already screwed up. Which impacts jobs, inflation, and a host of other issues….for society as a whole. Not a small percentage.
-
I got no issue with the small segment of the population that can’t and shouldn’t take certain vaccines for specific health issues That is a totally different conversation IMO. It’s another straw added to the pile of what everyone that can should get vaccinated to stomp covid out. you implied the masses were putting their health at risk by taking the vaccine. I was countering back to the anti covid vax crowd .
