I mean, there is when you hire someone unqualified in Matt Rhule to lead a rebuild. and no, you haven't seen it to date because Matt Rhule had rightfully been given the power and green light. But now that it is clear he looks like a dud and has high odds of being a lame duck.....yeah, it changes how you go about things if you are a front office. Or if you are remotely competent. To an extent you can no longer responsibly be all in on Matt Rhule's vision. Everyone's job isn't on the line. Matt Rhule and company are the ones with the job on the line. And when you are on the hot seat.....you start rightfully getting your hands tied to a degree. Because a front office has to mitigate how bad Rhule could continue to make things in this window....once most seem to realize he is a mistake. You have to start thinking about the scenario the next guy will be taking over to continue the rebuild.

I think this is the best game to evaluate Pickett. It's his best season vs the best defense he played that year. Now, this wasn't the week 1 Clemson D that GA saw as they had lost guys by this time but still a good test given the talent and coordinator.

I mean, every team doesn't fall into the tank for the #1 draft pick or believes they are in a legit SB window. I would say the Panthers are in a slow rebuild. Fully aware, that it is likely the rebuild continues on under a new HC. So I think the Panthers will overall focus on slowly building up and improving foundational aspects of the team continuing to slowly improve. But you aren't going to waste resources for Matt Rhule to attempt to win as many games as he can this year. That is counter productive to building something big picture IMO.

Was referring to the end of John Fox. and I think the 2022 draft should be handled like the 2010 draft. Only hopefully this time our GM doesn't bomb it. This draft shouldn't be a Matt Rhule draft. Not doing everything to win the most games possible in a given year isn't claiming they are tanking or having a fire sale. All 32 teams aren't in win now windows nor are all 32 confident in their HC they will have next year being the answer going forward.

NFL teams handicap coaches all the time when they know the coach's time is most likely nearing an end. and we have seen that here too. NFL teams don't try to win as many games as possible every year.

Winston is kind of like Sam Darnold. Only that he is capable of having some really good random days. But Winston is going to be Winston and a be nightmare too often.

Robbie's only had one actual good season in his entire career. And Robbie comes out taking up more cap space the legit #1 WRs in the NFL? Dumb dealing like that will impact the big picture. I can get saying the jury is out on him. But it's hard to call him much more than that at this point IMO.

Robbie Anderson must have the greatest agent in NFL history then....if that is what the badass was able to get it worked down to.

Jets are the smarter play than Carolina and I don’t think it is close. They have a young QB they just drafted. and will be adding 2 more top 10 picks in the draft. They also own 2 second round picks. All 9 of their picks are in the top 5 rounds. That’s a lot of new good talent they could add and the rookies are often some of the best Hard Knock story lines. if the angle is young rebuilding team? Jets > Carolina. We basically have a lame duck HC, one draft pick in the top 100 and Sam Darnold as our QB.

We have the worst QB and HC combo in the division with no OL.

In 3 years with Peyton Manning, John Fox's worst record was 12-4. It's been a QB league for some time. I think we see that over and over again. Payton without an elite QB like Brees would have been fired long ago. At least Pete Carroll can speak the truth.

any vet that is good would only be coming here to be overpaid IMO. Why else would you come here. Or have some local tie where you are basically signing up to make life better for your family. You basically are signing up for the end of a lameduck and then a new HC's rebuild.

If the draft charts mean anything….a future 2nd and 3rd isn’t enough to move up for the 26th. So it would cost more. That makes me a hard no on continuing to trade draft capital

Ok. But I am not arguing that he isn't referencing Martz in that comment. He easily could be. I also think there are two separate things at play. 1. Prioritizing scheme over personnel (which Martz is a textbook example of with Olsen). 2. HCs that allow great players to go off script and adapt as they see it in game. I think Greg is clearly referencing #2 and the pros it. I know Martz is guilty of #1. Maybe he is guilty of #2 and not allowing that too.
