  1. Cam was his on worst nightmare IMO. I think it took all Ron had to get him to sit one week after breaking his back in that car wreck. I doubt Bruce Arians was thrilled Tom Brady was on the preseason field last weekend. But Tom Brady was going to do what Tom Brady wants to do. Sometimes a star QB wields crazy power given how important they are to a team.
  2. I’ll add this simply because I was looking at all of it Out of legit starters, Tom Brady actually lead the league with the highest intended air yards per pas attempt at 9.1. Guess the GOAT enjoyed having weapons.
  3. Will be interesting to see what happens this year… Darnold’s intended air yards per pass attempt has dropped every season. Darnold was at 7.7 this past season. Teddy Checkdown was at 7.1 IAY per PA last season. Which was his highest. Just using the NO/Car info. Minny wasn’t listed. pretty comparable last season in terms of how far down the field they were averaging throws.
  4. Average hall of fame QB didn’t play in a league catered toward the passing game. I think the Ravens backup RGIII is at 63%
  5. I don't think there is a backup QB battle. You can think PJ sucks. You can think they both suck. But PJ is pretty clearly better than Will Grier IMO. Rhule wanting to get Grier reps is nothing more than wanting to give someone he is going to cut some audition reps to help him stay employed on someone's roster. Which probably ain't happening.
  6. doesn't seem like NFL coaches are struggling with what to do with their rookies as a collective group to date though. I'd rather Horn figure out with the help of 3 preseason games what he can and can't get away with.....vs throwing him into his first real NFL action week 1 vs the Jets and the learning start there. I don't think those are irrational takes. People don't have to agree. But they are rooted in decent logic and backed by the acts across the league.
  7. I like how irrational, is just pointing out that we run counter to the collective NFL. If every other team is playing there first round picks that are healthy and ready except for Matt Rhule and a rookie HC in Atlanta.....it doesn't seem irrational to point out that Horn likely should play. I mean, the collective field would be the "experts", right?
  8. Cam Newton is a unicorn. You can't compare stats with Cam. He is just his own thing. It's never worked IMO.
  9. it's almost like, the 2015 Panthers used preseason to get all the kinks out and identify issues.....then went into the regular season more prepared. Instead of using the first couple games of the regular season.
  10. It's selective. It's like the "they are treating Darnold like a rookie" arguement that was heavily played. Starting from scratch with him. Comes and goes. Every young QB was out getting real reps last weekend. Suddenly, well Darnold clearly isn't a rookie and doesn't need to risk injury. CMC doesn't need to play in the preseason. Just like Lamar Jackson doesn't. Which has nothing to do with our weak OL, QB, and rookies.
  11. Well, if Darnold got a little worse. PJ a little better. They would both be the same tier QB IMO. Decent backups. Which isn't outlandish IMO.
  12. Well, if Darnold has the ability to get better. You would have to afford that to PJ too? Guys like PJ are fun to root for. It’s as simple as that. It’s the Jake Delhomme mold. The unlikely path type stuff. MVP Cam in his prime could be here and I think PJ still has his little following emerge and cheering for him to turn into a solid backup.
  13. Should of been picking first? That’s a pretty negative view of that team. I think we overachieved based on how competitive we were across the full season….not because of 5 wins. I have them between 7-9 wins this year. Just to go on record for the hundredth time on it.
  14. PJ’s one start in the NFL was a shutout victory. When was the last one? He completed 70% of his passes that game and that was with 3 drops. Which would have put him at 79% on the day. Did he have a couple bad throws? Yep. All red zone throws. Think Teddy spoke on that. Given how little he played I think you have to factor in he came into the NO game late throwing bombs. Trying to bring us back into a game already lost. He was averaging almost 19 air yards per pass attempt. PJ has some promise. Not saying he should be the starter. But he has some promise to his game IMO. He could turn into a legit backup. He is no Will Grier.
  15. what site are you pulling the air yard info from? https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/passing_advanced.htm
  16. Trevor, Fields, Lance, Wilson, Jones ….all are getting reps. I think every first round pick that is healthy was out last week playing but Horn and Pitts (rookie HC).
  17. Rhule said he will let you know Thursday. To date, only thing he has confirmed is that they would see the field in game 3
  18. Yeah, he just seems like he spews complete bullshit. Too many words probably. Could be his speedy talk too. Just doesn’t hit my ears well. Maybe I am just conditioned for my NFL coaches to speak a certain way.
  19. I just need to quit listening to Rhule speak to reporters. For whatever reason, those keep turning me off of late. Well, for awhile now.
  20. tomato, tomaTOE. We can call it a learning curve if you like. If the other sounds too harsh. But I think it is a broad learning curve that shows up in lots of areas. Which again is fine. But we should be able to talk about them. I admittedly am not a fan of the college coach route. NFL just is a different beast IMO. What works in college rarely translate. I mean I love me some Dabo. I would blast Carolina for thinking he could turn this franchise around. He couldn’t. Well, until, he proved everyone and including me wrong. Rhule might work out. But I just don’t see it.
  21. NFL isn’t small time college football. That is where the green is coming from. see Teddy’s comments where people got outraged for him just pointing something out. and this conversation spawned out of a questionable strategy about building the OL. The bad plan noted a couple post ago and NFL teams all have different personnel, strengths and weaknesses…..and for two consecutive weeks of camp he has deferred to other teams to script his practice time to suit their preference. Different teams need different things from practice. and I am fine with a green coach that has to learn… if we can talk about it
  22. I have no doubt it will help him and his green staff learn how to do things. but that is part of the point. This staff is on over their head at the moment. Saw and heard parts of that last year. A fact people have repeatedly denied to suit other arguments when things are pointed out and criticized. so we should be able to collectively acknowledge they have a lot to learn about running a NFL team. Which people have struggled with
  23. maybe Matt Rhule can ask John Harbaugh what to do. Even as the host, he continues to defer to other teams about how his guys will work. Matt Rhule: "You know Coach Harbaugh. I said, hey coach, why don't you go ahead and script these practices as well"
  24. well, seems like a bad plan. If that was the plan. We had 4 spots on the OL we aren't very good at...and one we are very good at.
