I have never really heard Jets fans complain that he would lock onto WRs. Generally the knock was his decision making. Which is I why I have always consider his ceiling being a version of Jake Delhomme - minus the early career moxie Jake had that Tommy Jone took. Obviously a better athlete though.

What realistic player would you trade DJ for?

Heck, at this point I don't think Rhule should even bother playing the starters. Our starters vs the guys the Steelers are going to sit on the bench or cut for a half? I think the fringe guys with nothing lose and everything to gain are the most dangerous. They are the least sound players and more likely to do something stupid and get someone hurt. Seems like a pointless risk/exposure. Obviously, all reps have injury exposure. But if you aren't even going to rep them against comparable talent.....it gets harder to justify exposing them IMO. I mean, I have seen coaches punish starters in preseason by keeping them in for an extra series to go against backups after disappointing. But just playing a half vs backups would be some weird stuff. Just a weird preseason. Reporter asked him today about the talent/competition disparity today and how he could actually get what he claimed he wanted with it. He gave a non-answer. As coaches do.

He was a free agent, they gave up nothing. Bills did a 1 year deal for 2M.

we need one of those community tryouts like in that Marky Mark movie.
-
JJ immediately after the draft...

if they aren't even risking their 2nd string QB....I would imagine you will see the bottom of the Steelers depth chart from start to finish.

I think it is best to compare their starts when looking at their limited NFL play. But everything has always been fair game in my eyes when talking about both. I’m not the one just cherry picking what should she shouldn’t be talked about
-
gotcha. Hard to keep up with your ever changing criteria. Totally cool to talk about PJ's game....but not that one that was just 17 games ago with Grier. Off the table. Game was probably in black and white.
-
Let's talk about it. Which Saints game did you want to talk about though? The one where PJ came in late and was horrible in a comeback attempt? Or the Saints game where Will Grier came in late and had an even worse completion % and QBR than PJ did in his.
-
You told me I couldn't talk about those games. You called it reaching to go back that far. So I steered the conversation to the criteria you selected. Is it now relevant again? and again, shitting on PJ isn't actually making case for Will Grier. It's just shitting on PJ. Which is easy to do.
-
I was comparing first half performances. It is the only fair comparison to make. And I am only talking about that because Mr Scott deemed everything else reaching. Make a good case for Will Grier then. The case for Will Grier seems to be ignoring how bad he also is....and just talking about how bad PJ is. Which he is. But that isn't actually making a case for Will Grier. and we all deep down know why the PJ/Grier topic is the probably the hottest debate of this offseason.....it's about what is in front of them.
-
I see you keep deeming everything irrelevant when it points to PJ. So in actual NFL games, the team has managed better with PJ. Irrelevant. In the recent preseason play, the offense has performed better with PJ. Also, irrelevant. I'd rather the team move the ball better and score vs having a guy who you can brag about pulling off a slightly better completion percentage. Name of the game is points and production. Maybe we should just find an even shittier version of Teddy Bridgewater to replace both PJ and Grier then. He would have a better completion % than these two.
-
I think they both suck, for the record. and just for the record, Joe Burrow had 115 rushing attempts when LSU set the world on fire in Brady's offense that year. and if Grier is better for this offense.....why has it moved better and had more production in the preseason with PJ?
-
So it's reaching to discus their actual play in the NFL. lol. Only 2021 preseason first half play (recent performance only)... PJ lead offense - 15 points (plus missed FG) Grier lead offense - 3 points (plus missed FG). PJ longest drive - 91 yards Grier longest drive - 53 yards PJ second longest drive - 81 yards Grier second longest drive 47 yards So I would say the Panther O moved the ball better and was more productive in the first half with PJ over Grier. Which echos what also happened in the actual NFL games when they saw the field.
-
In Will Grier’s one NFL start he took 5 sacks….and had a worse completion % than PJ did in his one start. He also had less yards, more INTs, less TDs, etc. Will Grier and PJ both aren't very good QBs. So yeah, I'll take the mobile QB given what our OL looks like. And again, PJ would be more useful prepping with our D before we play all the mobile QBs on the schedule.

KC I think is getting a little annoyed at him. He has followed up all those XP misses last year by missing this preseason
-
I’ll guess the guy from Temple as next

So you think DJ and Robby are the same tier WR? I would say he would walk then if Carolina viewed it is as such. The market for him is clearly being set by others and he can get it. I’d tell him not to sign here if I was in his camp. If Sam can throw it downfield DJ willl have a great year. If Darnold can’t he will do what he has done the last two. Either way, someone I think will pay him at least what Golladay can get + the yearly inflated bump added on.
-
I’d rather you just stick to this conversation where you to tell me some more about why it doesn’t really matter to Robby and his agent when a deal gets done. Preseason or week 8…..it’s all the same per Mr Scott. That blown ACL wouldn’t impact anything. Carolina would just offer him the same deal as if it never happened.
-
there are decades of players and agents discussing the scenario in great detail. And Robbie and his team being sane and wanting a deal for Robby before the season starts….is common sense being applied to the situation. and Robby got his deal. Before the season started. You would be a horrible agent if you didn’t think that timing mattered. Robby’s agent did a good thing for Robby. Now he has real insurance for the season.
