  1. I mean, guys who enter the NFL can still continue to grow as players. I’m not saying they doesn’t and can’t happen. It obviously does. I just don’t think you can change their DNA. A risk adverse QB will always be risk adverse. Doesn’t mean he can’t get better. Gunslinger, a gunslinger. Darnold can improve. And we can put better talent around him. Don’t forget, Teddy actually had the best individual season of his career last year. But they couldn’t alter his QB DNA. I just don’t think you can change what Darnold is at his core. He isn’t a good decision maker. He is hesitant. He gets jitters. Talented? Yes. And you can put good talent around him and good things can happen. But he will just be a guy IMO.
  2. Sam Darnold just like last year we got Teddy Bridgewater. QBs don't change at this level. You can simply put different talent around them. Will Grier would look better trying to throw to Megatron than Legatron.
  3. Sam Darnold had the 5th highest INT% last year. Had the 2nd highest INT% of guys who went into the year as the starter. In terms of INT%...he has ranked 5th, 6th, and 4th highest each year he has been in the NFL. And if we removed backups that got thrust into lineups he climbs even higher in two of those years. So no, I can't acknowledge he is less turnover prone than the most turnover prone active QBs. Because he isn't. He literally is one of the most turnover prone QBs in the NFL. He has been the one constant in the NFL over the last 3 years. The rest of the company around Sam gets mixed up year to year.
  4. he wasn't wearing a mask during the game last weekend. They repeatedly put the camera on him. Pretty sure protocol means an unvaccinated person has to wear on on the sidelines.
  5. we had all but 2 vaccinated per Darin Gantt the other day.
  6. Well, that’s also why I said imagine if he had that pass load on his shoulders and didn’t just say if he had those pass attempts. Winston put up the 8th most yards in NFL history the year being talked about So you can just look at the INT% and pass attempts and pull your number. But the 626 pass attempts would only project a 2020 Sam Darnold as having a 3000+ yard season if you look at yards. Which wouldn’t really be a comparable load asked of the two IMO. Sam IMO has never been asked to shoulder the offensive load in the manner Winston did that year. So I think you got to look at more than just the attempts.
  7. Winston had a league leading 626 pass attempts and over 5000 passing yards (8th highest in history) that season. What do you think the INT column would have looked like for Sam if asked to shoulder a pass load like that?
  8. I judge Winston like all the rest. QB DNA. It is what it is. You don't change it. You can try. In the end QB DNA is what it is. Winston will always make dumb plays in the end. We have seen the I'll fix it thing a million times. The problem is he can catch fire. And you are going to have to tough day trying to stop him if you catch him on that day.
  9. hard to really feel great about bashing other guys given where we currently sit. The whole glass house thing. Sam Darnold was horrible in a clean pocket last year.
  10. My bad. It’s pretty easy. a fringe starter, the way I define it, is someone that isn’t very good but can earn a starting role on a team that doesn’t really have much at the position or finds themselves in a bad spot. take our LT as an example. He is a fringe starter. You put him on 32 other rosters….and he is a backup on the vast majority of them. But he starts for us. How long? Who knows. Give all 32 teams Sam. How many would start him over their QB? Maybe 1? Hou? Now, maybe Sam can develop into something better. That is the goal and plan. But he is what he is present day.
  11. I think Sam's stats will look very similar to the ones Teddy posted last year. Slightly lower comp % and maybe a couple more TDs. Nothing earth shattering. but with more wins attached to his name than Teddy.
  12. Rhule's college crew is going to largely be on the roster. Not PS. Come on now, Rhule ain't going to do his guys like that.
  13. Ron Rivera took over a 2 win team that featured Jimmy Clausen as the QB. Fox took over a 1 win team that featured Weinke as the QB. Rhule isn't in some unique horrible spot.
  14. They all played for Rhule at Temple. So did all the Baylor guys.
  15. I mean, Rivera cracked heads with the 85 Bears. He is going to naturally going to have a big edge over someone like Rhule in a defensive locker room. I mean, even if Rivera and Rhule weren't NFL coaches. Rivera is going to be a fit in that setting.
  16. imma go get one of those firemen helmets and paint it black and blue for the season opener
  17. Stats clearly don't tell you what actually happened but here they are Game 3 - 13/23, 52%, 158 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 2 sacks. Fum. Game 2 - 1/3, 33%, 5 yards Game 1 - 5/9, 55%, 45 yards
  18. they did win a handful with Dalton last year. And Dalton looks like he belongs in the XFL at this stage. What would be worse? Losing to Will Grier with the Cowboys? Or Cam going to Hou and losing to Cam complimented by the worst team in football?
  19. ok, but as a fan, having a new owner doesn't actually change how I view a HC.
  20. Capers took over an expansion team Fox took over a 1 win team Rivera took over a 2 win team They all were in the postseason within 3 years. It's the NFL. This year and the next IMO should decide if Rhule should stay or leave.
  21. PJ gets my vote over Grier for the same reason I endorsed PJ at the end over Teddy. PJ's style of play is simply more entertaining. So if winning and mattering goes out the window....might as well be entertained.
  22. well, that isn't my preferred method. But if you are going to go the route of trying to resurrect/fix Sam Darnold. I would have done it.
