It’s on I called a fake punt but they checked out of it Rhule.

When did you give up on Matt Rhule?
CRA replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The window from when the last season ended to when this one started. He lost me there. I had issues before that but that is where he lost me. He isn’t building anything here. Tepper drastically over-promoted him by giving him this job. I thought Fox and Rivera were outdated for the present day NFL. But they were textbook football guys. On the field and the locker room. -
Yeah, if we ignore the fact he was a prev. Richardson was a football guy. It was more than an investment and toy for Richardson.

Hard to say. Contract says you would think he would get more time. unless he is 100% different behind closed doors. He doesn’t inspire much confidence. At least not to me. If things keep going south at the current trajectory…..it will be really hard to keep Rhule I think. I mean we aren’t beating Philly and the Giants. Hard to see us beating anyone right now. Granted CMC will be back but who even knows if he can stay on the field at this point. I’m not a Rhule fan so I know I look at him with my own bias…but I think he has come off really poorly since camp. I’m now thinking 5 wins is what we are looking at. That’s gonna be a tough sell to the masses.

while the Giants had 5 or less points, we had 4 drives. 3rd and 3 - incomplete pass and punted INT 3rd and 2 - incomplete pass and punted 3rd and 2 - incomplete pass and punted then the Giants started scoring every drive to finish the game.

Score at half 5-3 3 rush attempts in the 2nd half by a RB Nearly all our traditional rushing yards were on the first drive of the game. Commitment.

Marty was good at one thing. Knowing what to do in the first round. That’s basically the only thing he should of ever been tasked with.

I think the D is trending in the right direction. We need some LB talent. Shaq being out hurts but even with him I think that is the spot that needs an infusion of talent.
-
I don’t see how they can….given Rodgers seems like he could walk or demand his way out at any moment going forward.
-
My fear was Sam being Sam. There being no QB solution in the draft. And then them being forced into some sort of Daniel Jones 3rd variation of what they keep doing. I’m not a believer in Rhule. I don’t think we go anywhere until he is gone. Then we actually rebuild our O. I think the D will be trending in a fine direction. Rebuilt O means a path forward that isn’t a CMC offense too.

OL is a problem. No doubt. Better QB is a better QB though. QB play makes OL issues better or worse. and I think Menshew and Mitch are better QBs. None are long term solutions though. Mac Jones is looking like a mistake too. I thought he had low ceiling but he also was the most pro ready not named Trevor. He seems to process things pretty quick and makes good decisions. Which as the GOAT also proves….is more important than legs and arm talent

Fact is, we went back to back with coaches who took us to Super Bowls. That actually isn’t bad. Far from what we wanted….but Fox and Rivera didn’t have bad runs here. Just disappointing ones. we probably were due for a coach/era that doesn’t work. That’s where I think we are. I don’t think anything good happens until the next coaching era. Could be a minute.
-
Maybe he was David Carr’d. Maybe Carr and Darnold simply weren’t good enough even if they hadn’t been behind those and OLs. Lot of QBs have been behind horrible OLs….and not been train wrecks because of it.
-
I think Mitch is a backup QB. But yeah, he was a better QB in Chicago than Darnold was in NY. Mitch Trubisky made Pro Bowl.
-
Well, it’s kind of hard to figure out what system fits you….when you don’t have a QB. QB IMO should dictate it.
-
Mitch, Menshew, etc were all better than Darnold. Other teams just rightfully viewed them as backups. But they have been better QBs than Sam. Or we could of drafted a QB and tied to build around and grow one. we handled the QB situation as poorly as possible. Sam is horrible with time and protection…so the give him a good OL narrative doesn’t have backing.
-
Can you be wrong about a rookie QB going into his 5th start? One that wasn’t even groomed to be the starter….and needs an offense built around his skill set?
-
Cool. Lot of rookie QBs play terrible. Especially when on bad teams and playing against good ones. It ain’t rocket science.
-
Justin Fields is a rookie playing the defending Super Bowl champs. He isn’t suppose to be good right now. His playing today isn’t a reason why we shouldn’t of drafted him. And I’ll make a friend board bet if PJ starts. If he does, we will have more offense than Sam was able to lead us to today.
-
Signing him as the only option was dumb. And so was picking up his option. And so was paying fluke season Anderson before seeing how this season played out. Lot of big time fails with the former Jets players. Still blows my mind how much of our “rebuild” is based off of paying Jets castoffs.
-
1-0, 20-0 victory. can’t say it can’t happen. When it has. I mean we have already done this before. Folks like you hyper focused on pointing out his play when thrown out there, behind and in comeback pass only scenarios. In his lone start I think he completed 70% of his passes and if you factored in drops he would have been at almost 80%. Moved the ball well between the 20s. If he can do that? Move the call between the 20s? Well that would be way better than Sam of late.
-
Sam Darnold is awful. Starting PJ essentially ensures we can move on from them both next year. Stick with Darnold and he could have a random 2 or 3 games like he always does (see his time in NY) ….and we could get stuck with him for a second season.
-
Menshew too. Lot of options this year. And likely much fewer next.
