DJ is on pace to have his best season…by far. 1400 yards, 13 TDs. And that is just projecting over 16 games and not 17. Which would be the 3rd best by a Panther statistically following only 89’s 2005 and Moose’s 2004 (if only using 16 games and not 17 as the bar). I mean he is on pace to at least challenge for the best individual season in franchise history. That’s blowing up in my mind.

No real issue there. Without CMC, I think they look to be a slightly better team. that’s under the assumption they have their top 3 offensive player makers
-
CMC trending the wrong direction? Not practicing today...
CRA replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Joe Brady can’t successfully and consistently scheme around 4 horrible offensive line paired with an average QB. No OC can. and all of that with his entire time as OC with the highest paid and best player in CMC on the shelf almost every week. we don’t have a Joe Brady problem. -
Yeah, we will run the ball better and be better offensively with CMC. Which impacts the D. That should help the D stay off the field more and be fresher. And and if the O runs through CMC I would think the odds of turnovers decrease vs a CMC less O. So it decreases the odds of the D getting in bad spots off turnovers. bad offense generally works against a D. Good offense generally helps them. Just a variation of that thought process.

No CMC and they have Cook 31-20 Vikings CMC 27- 24 Panthers

Matt Rhule next week when Joe asks a follow up
-
Was obvious then too.

Good for Joe. Never thought I would say that Joe be like…

Odds would at least favor a QB with a long history of ball security and turnovers….being asked to go deep more behind a horrible OL would have increased odds for negative plays though. We need OL talent. OL is so bad a great OC’s plays would blowup on him. People will always be disappointed with offensive playcalling…with a horrible OL. You can’t successfully pull it off for 4 quarters vs good comp. The lines make or break an offense or defense.

funniest part about the greatest and most memorable play in Panther history… per Jake, it never actually worked out well in practice when they ran it. So essentially, a play they weren’t even good at was called and just happened to work out masterfully. That’s football sometimes. The line between genius and dumb often is so very thin

We have an offensive line that is horrific in pass pro and a QB that has long been plagued with ball security issues.... you really want Brady to be pushing a bunch of deep pass plays and double moves? That sounds like the perfect recipe for the O to just turn it over and prevent us from having a shot.
-
I think if Cornbread Brown just laid down on the ground every snap…he would grade higher than Miller.
-
I’m sorry, quoting myself to highlight how stupid this was. What I should of said was, maybe we can start inserting some DBs into the OL. A chaos effect. Confuse defenses about what the fug is happening. Why the fug is Jackson and our newly acquired DB playing LT and LG? I don’t know but maybe you can tell me why Robby Anderson just caught that 80 yarder on you while you think about it!
-
maybe we can invent some new package that features 11 defensive backs all on the field and give it a cool name
-
With CMC, I would take us.

paying Jackson big money seems like a Hurney move. Which is what Robby feels like too. and a lot of the board praised many of the the Hurney contracts….that they would later bash him so hard for. Nothing would make me want to make Jackson a highly paid DB any time in the near future. Even if he had a 2015 Norman season (which I doubt)….you gotta beware of guys who have one season that runs in contrast their entire career.

We have played one team this year with good WRs and a good QB though… and that team happened to run for 250 yards on us. Which limited the need to really go at our secondary hard. He has had a good start, odds say he probably is closer to the guy he has been over the past 3 seasons than the one this small window is painting. this is a big show me week IMO. 2 great WRs and a good QB.
-
But in one breathe we talk about how the OL is absolutely horrific and note the the fact saw pressure on an absurd number of snaps….no protection to hardly pull anything off. and then in the next day Joe Brady should be running double moves? That means the QB needs even more time. We have an OL issue. You can scheme around an OL sucking only so much. Too much talent on the other side in the NFL.

This thread has super high odds of being predictably Huddle-seque… Same people calling him a top 5 DB this week gonna call him overrated if he is beat repeatedly by Jefferson and Thelien this week. Which easily could happen. Because they are very good WRs with a capable QB throwing to them. Something we have only seen once all year.
-
We should get CMC back this week…which is a big plus. Defenses play us different. that said, I’d probably call this a coin flip type game. Either team could win. Vikings will be one of the toughest games to date though. They have a lot of problems on O to deal with. this is one of the weeks you have to the offense show up and play well. Can’t expect the D to dominate and put it all on them vs well built offenses. Contain and limit. Offense has to score points vs middle of the road defenses.
