it took 1 start to figure out PJ... but 44 in with Sam and you don't know? I mean, Sam has been pretty consistent as a QB. USC, NY and now here.

Panthers not in mix to acquire Texans QB Deshaun Watson:
CRA replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think the odds of him going to jail at this point are high at all. Acquiring him and him not actually being allowed to play in the 2021 or the 2022 season? Super high. -
Sam Darnold : Will he make it to a 2nd season here?
CRA replied to glenwo2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Still his 4th year as a starter. This is the Teddy arguement all over again. It's not all a Jets creation. A lot of Sam's issues existed before the Jets. He has those issues here. Because it's what he is. Some of it is just QB DNA. You can't change certain things. Good athelte. Good dude. Not a great QB. -

It is Sam’s 4th year as a starting NFL QB. Think it is safe to speak on him not being a very good at playing QB at this point. Who has clear cut issues that have nothing to do with the Jets. They exist here and were the same concerns coming out of USC. -
I think the gap between Gilmore and every corner here is pretty big. I’d rather just go find a S if we kept Gilmore around.

You know what PJ’s training camp battle with Grier and his NFL starts have in common?
-
I mean nothing you are saying refutes what you claim to be “calling out”…. Does Tua having a winning record despite being a young player on a bad team? Yep. Does he have a good endzone/turnover split despite being a young player on a bad team? Yep. Did he play well last weekend in his second game of the season despite being a young player on a and team? Yep. did you actually have a point? You think Tua is trash and should be moved on from after not even playing a seasons worth of games? Then say that.

this you? I mean you are on here talking about Cam Newton wasn’t a great rushing threat.
-
Yes, Cam Newton is the greatest rushing threat in NFL history. lol. Going the he doesn’t run like Vick/Lamar route means nothing. No, he doesn’t run like them. He was much more problematic. Every run was on the table like he was a featured HB….but with the numbers edge that a QB runner brings. He is the greatest rushing threat because he didn’t have to run away from people. That was the problem for defenses. He was always at the advantage. And there has been nothing like him and probably never will be. Love him or hate him, he is a unicorn.

I think front offices simply don’t want the media and fans in on what they are doing. So when it doesn’t work out….they get to pretend nothing happened and don’t have to address it. take Washington denying they are the team wanting Tua. It would make sense. But they don’t want everyone to know that. Because If you don’t get him….you still have to deal with what you have in house and may have to for some time. So you get to play the cards that you always had complete faith in guys….that you actually want to upgrade on. -
Again, you either don’t understand the real point or are intentionally missing the point. We have a roster full of guys worse than Cam present day. That’s the problem. It’s not an argument to sign Cam. And someone having a stronger arm doesn’t make them a better QB. See last season as further evidence. Cam Newton is still the biggest rushing mismatch in NFL history. Which is why he ultimately is still so much better than guys.

Last time we faced a trash NY team….we barely squeaked by in reality. I got faith the D can setup a win. I just don’t know if the O can do their part. Just too inconsistent. And turnovers are clearly becoming a real issue.

They don’t really conflict. they said the Panthers have talked to the Texans about Watson Rhule simply said HE didn’t. That’s not his job either. Then gave coach speak on Sam. clearly Carolina would be interested in what they would view as a good deal. That just doesn’t seem to be on the table. and for the record, I don’t want Watson in a giveaway deal at this point. GM shouldn’t be looking for a good value there. -

There is enough legit reporting that we have been in on Watson. It’s the words that matter. We aren’t in the mix ….means the price is too high for us. But clearly we have been asking about it. -
Cam had more wins last year than the Panthers or Sam. And the NE roster was trash. But yeah, let’s keep skipping over that type stuff. Cam could literally run every down as a wildcat QB….and the outcome would be better than if you put some QBs on rosters in a game. He is still a nightmare mismatch even if his shoulder can’t recover. And again the argument isn’t about Cam being the guy anywhere. He shouldn’t be. There is nothing to built toward with him. He just a body at this point and too big of a personality to make sense almost anywhere. But clearly, better than a lot of guys collecting checks. There is some The Golden Calf of Bristol to Cam now. When The Golden Calf of Bristol left….there weren’t 64 better QBs in the NFL in terms of finding a win for your team. There just wasn’t a point in going the The Golden Calf of Bristol route. There was no future there and it was too much of a circus to bring him in short term in any role.
-
again, Cam’s days as the guy are done…. Conversation ain’t really about Cam. But if Cam is better than what you got….that says something about your team.
-
This year or if we keep Gilmore Next season, I see zero reason to move him to FS. he would be the best CB on the team. Why wouldn’t you play the best CB at CB?
-
Yeah, because he is a superstar personality in a weird window of his career to be that…..and was unvaccinated. Today, there aren’t 32 better QBs starting in the NFL. And there certainly aren’t 32 better backups.
-
I don’t think anyone would argue that… but a washed QB being giving you better odds of success than what you have? Well, that highlights a problem. Cam couldn’t throw last year and NE’s roster was the biggest hit by COVID….and he won more games than Carolina and Sam being a check down bulldozer.

Think it similar to the Philly game in some aspects. D dominates early vs a bad offense and sets up an easy win. We never get up as much as we feel we should be. Staff does try to get an even rush/pass split that leans slightly to the run. Which prevents the turnovers we saw vs Philly. Chuba grinds out a good but unspectacular game. 23 - 13 Panthers
-
Okay. You cherry picked some bad stuff from the 13 games of a young QB on a bad team. No one is saying he is Aaron Rodgers right now or on pace. You can cherry pick a lot of disatrous stuff for a lof of QBs that haven't played a full season yet. Trevor, Fields, Wilson. That's just this class. Go look at Sam's rookie year. Hell, just look at Sam's last season....think he pulled off 3 INTs, a FL and 2 of those were pick 6s all in a half of football. They have been able to win with Tua. That says somehting. Good completion %. Good endzone to turnover ratio. Again, he is just a couple games into his career with a bad team. Yeah, there is plenty of bad there. There is suppose to be. Point isn't that he is great, point is you don't see teams so boldly moving on from what Tua is and has been yet. We got peoploe to this day doing mental gymnastics on Sam Darnold and Tua can't even get 16 games lol.
-
Dolphins have spent months and months basically telling everyone they are done with Tua…. Tua’s actually gotten off to a decent start to his career. That’s all. Winning record. Decent comp%. Good TD vs turnover numbers. He defiantly isn’t looking like a bust. He just didn’t have a Herbert, Cam, type entrance into his career. Tua might end up being the gold in the deal. Not that I think he will be as good as Watson in his prime. But he could be good….and actually available to play QB
