  1. Signing him as the only option was dumb. And so was picking up his option. And so was paying fluke season Anderson before seeing how this season played out. Lot of big time fails with the former Jets players. Still blows my mind how much of our “rebuild” is based off of paying Jets castoffs.
  2. 1-0, 20-0 victory. can’t say it can’t happen. When it has. I mean we have already done this before. Folks like you hyper focused on pointing out his play when thrown out there, behind and in comeback pass only scenarios. In his lone start I think he completed 70% of his passes and if you factored in drops he would have been at almost 80%. Moved the ball well between the 20s. If he can do that? Move the call between the 20s? Well that would be way better than Sam of late.
  3. Sam Darnold is awful. Starting PJ essentially ensures we can move on from them both next year. Stick with Darnold and he could have a random 2 or 3 games like he always does (see his time in NY) ….and we could get stuck with him for a second season.
  4. I’m open. I just don’t want non-power 5 college HC with only one conference title to his name. That’s not really a NFL coach resume….even if the Jets were thinking about doing it before us.
  5. Menshew too. Lot of options this year. And likely much fewer next.
  6. It will prevent this staff from having the option of trotting Sam back out there next year. Be done with him. it’s not about PJ being the guy. It’s about ending the Sam experiment. And forcing this staff to acknowledge the mistake and prevent them from doing the same thing again next year. Quit bringing in these established scrub QBs.
  7. No. I’m not saying that. you would simply use it to evaluate if he is worth being the backup QB. And the answer is likely no. But it answers it for the world to see. The point is too move on from Sam. And if PJ sucks, you evaluate the practice squad kid. Not to be the starter…but to simply see if there is any point of having them in the building.
  8. And PJ 100% should get the start next week vs Atlanta. You don’t only evaluate the play and outcome of inserting someone into pass only situations with guys that have already accepted defeat. we saw that last year with PJ. He was much better in his lone start than thrown in late and forced to be on one dimensional pass downs. and if he sucks in his start….go to the kid on the practice squad. You got to end the Sam experiment though. Staff has to acknowledge what they did going in to this season and officially move on from that mistake.
  9. I will support anyone not named Sam starting going forward. End result of that forces this staff off all of them.
  10. Really bad QBs make bad OLs even worse. the OL is a problem. Sam compounds it by being the guy behind it. If you have a bad OL….you need a good QB. Plenty of teams have and do play with weak OLs.
  11. he has better skills position players around him than most QBs. check the other side of the ball. Daniel Jones has poo to manage this week. Sam has sucked for 4 straight years as a starting QB. Sam isn’t a NFL QB and we are getting what we deserve for bringing him in. What he should be is sitting on a roster like Mitch Trubisky, Menshew, etc. and those guys are BETTER. Which highlights what a bad decision this always was.
  12. No one expected Darnold to carry the team. He is Sam Darnold. He is a liability. Sam was expected to be a functional game manager.
  13. We have been doing that all season with Sam. the one game we prepped PJ and started him we moved the ball. We were able to win. So why not vs Atlanta. Sam is getting worse and worse as the season goes on now that people know what Carolina is going to do with him.
  14. Defenses don’t make stops in the 4th q when there team has had no offense all game.
  15. They should start PJ vs Atlanta. Give him a 2nd prepped start.
  16. PJ does move well in the pocket. Great zip on the ball to DJ.
  17. any team with a bad QB is going to suck. And we intentionally brought in the worst starting QB over the last 3 years to be our QB. None of this is a shock. And he magnifies every issue we have in the OL. The polar opposite of what a good QB does. this Matt Rhule and the FO’s fault. Because it was painfully obvious what Sam would be. Another pointless season. and after 2 years, we have done nothing to improve our OL/QB situation. The most important aspect of NFL football. Rhule should be fired. I don’t want scapegoats. He isn’t a NFL HC.
  18. So is almost every backup QB we have employed. Jimmy simply cost a 2nd round pick and got starting reps because of it. Hell, I think Armanti Edwards would have given us a better shot to win than Clausen. Sam is better than Jimmy. But that isn’t a positive for Sam.
  19. At soccer and just checking in at the half. No clue what is going on but it sounds like PJ time.
  20. Not a surprise. He has to get into football shape. doesn’t matter. Game comes down to Sam and the OL.
  21. Sam is in the PJ tier of QBs. That’s what Sam is. He just happened to be a high draft pick. And people haven’t gotten over that somehow
  22. Well, we have played worse teams and teams just as bad as that Lions team….and we have had more dominate defensive performances in some of them too and it the final score wasn’t 20-0. PJ’s first start was fine. Simple as that. And the PJ critics that claim he is horrific…largely stay hyper focused on the stats of him coming in throwing haymakers in a comeback attempt. That’s not his job nor a scenario to evaluate him. He is a backup QB. And the one time he was asked to actually do his job…he did it. Moved the team well. Was accurate and efficient. 2 bad balls don’t void everything. Sam Darnold is a backup QB. Any knock you have on PJ applies to Sam Darnold. Sam Darnold isn’t better. That’s my point. That isn’t PJ hype. PJ shouldn’t see the field. Only reason it is even discussed is because Darnold shouldn’t either. I mean PJ ain’t going 0-17 if that is why you think Sam is on a different tier. Panthers would find ways to win some with him too. Especially vs the bad teams.
  23. PJ has been asked to realistically do his job once. we won 20-0. Seems serviceable. His job isn’t to lead the team to huge comebacks after the starters have gotten us into massive holes. That’s not the job.
  24. I don’t think he plays. He has been on the shelf too long. One light practice or whatever he had this week isn’t going to put him in game shape yet.
  25. yeah, I mean Curtis was actually a RB in college. We can't just use him like Curtis. But I think you could dress up the run game a little with him. Some end around action whether it be real or not just to give some aid to Chuba by presenting it. Maybe a screen here or a pop pass here or there.
