Well, I guess there is one more question to ask….how involved was Tom Coughlin in the playcalling when McAdoo was OC. A long time stable NFL offensive guy. How much of a factor was that Coughlin in making the McAdoo pure OC years okay…..vs McAdoo being blasted as a horrible playcaller as HC. probably a mix of a lot things IMO. Not sure taking on too much as a HC fully explains how bad his playcalling was received as HC. but in his defense, I guess we could factor in the NY market being the most brutal that exists too. So they could of come at him harder than what he deserved *Rhule shouldn’t of hired Brady. A team that hired him would have needed to put a green OC like that in a position to succeed and grow. And take lumps. And nothing about year 2 was about that. Joe Brady is only relevant in the context of the big picture mismanagement of the O. And I simply refuse to allow him to the catch all for everyone else’s blunders in the mess. They need to own there part in it. And a lot of that is simply on Matt Rhule. He hired a newb passing OC and gave him Sam Darnold, a bad OL, and basically no legit NFL mentorship to help lol. The problem wasn’t so much Joe Brady but the architect of it all IMO. That’s designed to fail and predictably did just that.

Panthers HC Matt Rhule on new coaching staff: You don't want yes men
CRA replied to austin1227's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm still waiting on this smooth talking wordsmith to make an appearnce. He largely just comes across as a fast talking salesman that doesn't really inspire confidence. But in fairness, I can't really get past the Matt Rhule that really emerged last camp through last season. Can't really remember what he sounded like when he first arrived. -
McAdoo was also the playcaller when has the HC too. So it can't be totally disregarded. He called the plays his entire first year as HC. He called them to start his 2nd year as HC too. He got a lot of heat for the playcalling as HC and being too predictable. Running the same plays over and over.

Well, that is what reputable reporters who follow his teams have consistently said about how Rhule goes about running things. I side with them on what goes on in house. They have the ability to find out. We don’t. And when Rhule fired Joe Brady and installed his Baylor coach the O was practically identical. It was worse but there essentially no change. and Rhule might prefer to play 2 yards and a cloud of dust football in an ideal world. But his talent and the games simply haven’t allowed for that to be a strategy he could roll out and stick too. We had weak OL play, weak RB play and a D that couldn’t stop the run. That’s not going to allow a coach to do that even if he prefers it.

well, one of the narratives on Rhule is his management style is basically to be over involved and put his thumbprint on everything related to football.

I get why they would like to deal Baker. Still don't see why they would bother with Sam Darnold. The narrative of but Sam could totally get better just doesn't have teeth at this point. He doesn't fit the backup criteria IMO. They would still need that role filled. and Baker isnt' really a distraction at this point. He is just going to be off to the side. I still think they are worried about about cutting him because of the Pitt pickup fear. So they can just sit on Baker as an asset and see if injuries make him more attractive.
-
I would assume organizational consensus would likely be referring to the owner, GM, HC and possibly OC. So someone out of that group wants Baker. Someone doesn’t. Would assume the GM/HC have high odds of being on different pages…..otherwise I don’t think the narrative exists. If Rhule and Fitt wanted him it wouldn’t matter if McAdoo didn’t IMO. and I generally side with long term and high rep NFL reporters generally being right about things they cover. They might not have all the facts right but they got the gist down.
-
It’s a statement rooted in the history of the NFL and professional sports. Rhule is going to have to win more games. And if he doesn’t have to….it makes him an anomaly. and I made the comment because I don’t think Rhule is anti-rookie. I don’t think he is giddy about playing a 3rd round rookie QB this upcoming year. Because that would mean the season is about the development of a 3rd round rookie QB. I think Rhule will trot rookies out if he believes they are the best option in the short term.
-
I think the narrative on Rhule not wanting to play Corral isn’t about not liking rookies. More acknowledging Rhule most likely needs to win a fair amount of games to stay employed. Starting Corral IMO would require a HC to put development as the priority over winning now. So I think Rhule would rather get his hands on Baker or something like that. Let Corral be a slow project that is off to the side. Because he needs every win he can find a way to get this year.
-
Yeah, I think Rhule wants Baker. Think his hands are tied on what he can do to acquire him. But if he is cut we make a move. Just depends who else would make a run at him if a FA.
-
Matt Corral I think he sees the field this year. Not because Rhule wants to go that route…..but I just feel too many have forgotten where we were right before we brought Cam in. Sam will continue to be Sam. Rhule will continue to be Rhule. And if they are….BOA will react as they did last year after a couple weeks.
-
eh, tech and innovation are still going to continue. The leaps will continue to get bigger and faster IMO. Crashes are a pretty consistent thing that occur. I don't really consider the economy and market doing anything earth shattering. Even a massive recession wouldn't be a game changer. Would just a first time for some.

Robby or Robbie Anderson no show OTA’s
CRA replied to slumdogmillionaire's topic in Carolina Panthers
Based on Robbie’s season last year…..he needs the work. Especially given the fact Rhule puts him out for the lion share of the work -
who knows. I'm not smart enough to guess or try. I've stopped my monthly buying for the moment. I'll probably start back after the summer is over no matter what the world looks like though. What else can you do. I'm not retiring for a long long time. And we have always sat on too much cash as we have always had to fight our risk adverse nature. I'll probably just buy the big name beat down tech when I return.

he has always needed to get in the weight room IMO. That's always been the sign IMO he was just coasting on his god given talent and cool with it. Which I mean, that's cool. More power to him. The league is slammed full of guys who are just cashing checks like so much of the rest of the population does. -
Stock market bottom doesn't seem to be in sight. Crypto market is mirroing it. Real estate bubble about to burst. Going all in on Jake Delhomme rookie cards. Someone told be card collecting was hot again.
