Panthers have to “make a true investment” in the OL
CRA replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
From a national perspective we aren’t. Not right now. Lot of that has to do with Rivera. Fox. And what this franchise has pulled off in a short period of time vs some long standing franchises. we easily could be better next year. This narrative it takes 3 or 5 years to be respectable on the field isn’t something I’m buying. It’s the NFL. Not college. If you are this big of a joke at the end of a year 2…..it’s your coaches and front office (exception for mass/key injures). Not a time constraint. League is basically designed to be .500 and competitive (ask Tepper about that). If you aren’t that? That’s a you problem (front office). Now I agree to be legit to contend….it’s takes awhile and some luck on actuallly finding a QB. if we simply kept Teddy and Joe Brady…..we would have been better. Because that alone would have but this D in much better positions. We got worse because of Matt Rhule doesn’t know poo about offense or about QB play -
I suspect Tepper will have an end of the year meeting and make his call. still don’t see how you can bring him back on a 7 game skid, no home win since Sept, no identity on O, and all the rumblings. And the complete debacle known as Sam. but maybe Tepper is stubborn enough he wants to see a sinking ship the actual bottom and be 100% of his mistake. Maybe sinking with no hope isn’t good enough and he will opt for a Hail Mary season for his personal ego
-
He basically has been lobbying for why he should get a 3rd year and lying through his teeth about some things. maybe he will be back but I doubt Tepper has said so.
-
Sam also can’t make plays in rhythm and make the right throw. So a well called play ends up looking like garbage. then everyone looks at Brady. Earlier his year there was a good breakdown on Sam not being able to do rookie basics like that by Simms I think

Shocking passing statistics for the 2021 Panthers.
CRA replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
You mean much worse because Teddy > Sam and QB play is that important? rest of the roster isn’t worse overall . Defensive talent is clearly better. By a big margin. We still have the #2 ranked D despite literally no offense. Which is just an amazing feat in reality. We took at a hit at the #3 WR spot. But overall, it’s a better roster minus how important QB is. Overall O is about a push after you acknowledge the #3 WR spot and excluding QB. Teddy was always better than Sam. Sam alone was going to make us much worse. -
Given how Matt Rhule has talked the last 2 weeks. There is no way he has been told he is coming back yet and not to worry.

The Bucs won't rest starters, will play to win

Hey, we got a plan though. One that is totally working. 1000%. Man o man, if you could see what Matt Rhule sees. What goes on not in the games or practice or camp. If you could see the rest of it. Probably would make you cry tears of something. -

If Sam sees the field next year we might as well find a new team. Maybe you have to keep him on the books but it isn’t hard or expensive to find better than Sam. if Sam is the guy week 1 next year….we are the biggest joke in the NFL. Not the Jets. Not the Lions. The Panthers. It’s not hard to go in with a plan that is better than Sam. -

I’d say this season is proof this staff doesn’t have much of a clue though. They put Sam Darnold behind this OL and thought they could win -

This staff brought in the OL we have largely. This staff brought in Sam and traded away our 22 draft This staff just paid Robby Anderson a boatload of cash And Matt Rhule is the guy who is now going to invest in our OL? Why would we want anymore of Rhule’s fingerprints on our O -
Panther’s last home win was 108 days ago…..a stretch no one else in the NFL has

Tom Brady has never sat in his 57 year career the final game of a season. Hope Rhule wasn’t betting on that -
Yeah, they have done so to local reporters. Big article last week featured. they got families though…so they don’t put their name on it. Staying employed is probably important to them I would assume. Look in Jacksonville. Finally someone put their name on it. But the currently employed coaches and players could only go anonymously to the media. The name on it was only someone no longer with the team and had that luxury. Teddy did a nice version of that after he left we called out what joke prep this staff did

lol. Dang, I wasn’t quick enough on the edit. Had a brain fart. Don’t know why I mixed all that up lol
-
I think so. Bronco O was horrible. We had good defense too. and I still don’t think they beat us without the refs adding them that day. So in addition to the bad day to have a bad day….they got some big help to pull it off.
-
Don’t know what sources Skip Bayless has….but he claims another version of events. It does match up with the video of him and Brady talking before he walked off. AB ran his mouth about Tom throwing to Gronk. Brady got annoyed and was like…yeah, I’m going back to Gronk. And that set him off. whatever it was I am sure it wasn’t about whatever singular thing occurred on the field
-
They lineup play 10 times Carolina is winning most. Best team doesn’t always win. That’s why sports is fun. different refs and the outcome might of be different too that day. Hard to say that crew didn’t influence the outcome.

It’s disingenuous to imply what you are with this post. Tom Brady panics then. Rodgers. Wilson. Hell, even complete garbage QBs like PJ Walker. those guys reacting to pressure isn’t what is referenced when talking about Sam.
-
Cam spent most of his career behind bad OLs. He doesn’t panic. It’s like being a punt returner. You either have ice in your veins or you don’t. Sam is a panic guy. Always has been.

I personally think a 7 game losing streak to finish out a season and not winning a home game in Jan or Dec or Nov or Oct……is pretty catastrophic. but I’ll accept OP too

Yes. Sam is best flushed from the pocket. The play breaks down. He isn’t reading poo and is throwing to someone who broke off their route for him. So basically he doesn’t have to read poo, be in timing, etc. -

Yeah, Matt….people that aren’t paid millions of dollars knew that two years ago. and you out here drafting DBs in the top 10, trading away draft picks for Sam Darnold.
