I mean, this is no longer fun buddy. I knocked your projection game for the painfully bad Brian Burns remark. That's not where Rhule gets in his own way and the decisions he mindboggling struggles with. Nor how I knock him. He knows CMC is good. He knows DJ is good. He knows Burns is good. He can figure out the super studs. You ever heard me claim Rhule couldn't figure that out? Nah. Rhule struggles w/ the tiers of players that fall under superstar. The Teddy B tier. The Sam Darnold tier. The Baker tier. The PJ tier. That's probably 3 different tiers of players those 4 fall in. Maybe 2. I predicted Rhule would do something dumb with players that fell in some of those tiers. I might of guessed wrong but it was rooted in Matt Rhule's tenure as a HC. Silly, is your stance that Matt Rhule shouldn't be doubted and questioned. Again, the bar is on the ground and I concede he thankfully walked over it. Maybe he can keep baby stepping and dig himself out of the hole he rightfully should be viewed in currently.

Besides Rhule what are your concerns for the season?
CRA replied to Tr3ach's topic in Carolina Panthers
In no particular order I think the OL has improved talent but I think the OL might still struggle. Young players, new players, lack of chemistry and work together, working with new QB, new playbook. Mix all that in a bowl and I doubt we see great OL play early on. Run defense (DL). Pass Rush. I think our ability to generate pressure without blitzing could be an issue. Until he shows up and proves he belongs after the league did away with him for the most part, I think Ben McAdoo has a lot to prove. His decision making in all areas looked bad when he wasn't under Tom Coughlin's thumb. And while not a green newb, McAdoo much like Joe Brady doesn't fit what Matt Rhule claims to want to be about. Matt Rhule seems to want Mike Shula if you listen to his talk. -
I mean, your projection game needs work in all honestly.

Bringing up Matt Rhule is different than bringing up Joey Syle for example. Some thought he sucked. But he was K. Given the nature of Rhule's position and role, he is simply going to be relevant in a lot of different discussions about the team. 90% of the board doesn't have faith in Rhule per the polling here. Just accept that. Rhule would get bashed less in reality if the loud 10% wasn't demanding respect in every thread for him because someone makes a silly comment and alludes to not having faith in him.

I’d love to be as wrong about Matt Rhule as I was about Dwayne Jarrett. I’d love it. I give zero shits about being right when bullshitting about football. Dwayne Jarrett IMO has been my worst call of all time. He just needs more opportunity!!!! lol

Sounds like you need to go lecture the clowns who had a pointless QB battle that lasted all the way until today. Baker has had one preseason drive and it included a botched snap with whoever at C with an OL he may or may not be playing together come week 1. This should of been done in Spartanburg. correct and easy, isn’t obvious with Matt Rhule. Hence why this thread has to exist.

Good. The bar for Matt Rhule is literally laying on the ground and he managed to step over it on this one. I mean my kid could of taken care of this mind boggling dilemma for him the day Baker was signed Rhule fanboys high-stepping like Deion Sanders because Matt Rhule shockingly was able to tie his shoelaces. I’d be happy if Rhule keeps proving me wrong but the fact this thread even had to exist makes me doubt that.

Matt Rhule punting from the opponents 30 week 1? Who knows. But what is certain is there will be something.

Why was Josh Norman a one hit wonder?
CRA replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think he played on a very good defense. That helped. I do think was more of scheme centric DB but that applies to a lot of players. end of the day, I think his aggressive play style could be similar to a gunslinging QB. Especially in todays NFL. The style of play simply isn’t going to lead to consistent play. And the league is built for DBs to lose battles. -
I love Cam but he is done. That said, Cam saved Rhule from being fired in season IMO last year and Rhule still couldn’t do him a solid to finish out the year lol.

Mercury Morris doesn’t want to see PJ get a chance because he knows what will happen.

Corral was developmental. Best case for him was always seeing the field late if the Rhule era officially imploded. Corral going to IR in my eyes just highlights the pointless mess ahead of Corral. We still have Sam and PJ on the roster. And you would have hoped Rhule would have moved on from some of the mess regardless if they added a developmental player or not.

Agree to disagree. as I said, I disagree with the notion that players and coaches ever attempt to lose a game. But front offices tank seasons intentionally. It’s just part of rebuilding once you hit a window where you actually want to rebuild. If you know a new chapter is around the corner….it doesn’t make a lot of sense to retain certain players with big contracts, make moves for guys that technically could make you better today, win now players don’t end up making sense….and you don’t use up resources/cap/add players the new coach/GM wouldn’t want. So you let guys go, you don’t add guys of substance and you allow your roster to get weak. Jets did it Sam’s last year in NY.
-
Tanking is real. It’s just not something actively done on Sundays. Front offices tank teams though. The Jets front office tanked them the last season Sam Darnold was there because it became evident they had to start over.
-
His job was apparently some 7 year rebuild from the ground up. reality is we have no direction or vision or really any evidence anything is being built. Rhule frankly is just as far along building something as the day he was hired. still just renting castoff vet QBs. No team identity. Trading away draft picks. Poor coaching. We just added a bunch redemption tour coaches for the most part being billed as a great staff.
-
you can find quotes going into 2021 that hit relatively all the same notes. You can almost name any team going into any season and the talk is good heading in.
-
Selah won 4 games with a rookie Rhule won 5 with a vet (twice) Jets looked better than the Panthers at the end of last season. I’m not sure that casts Selah in a more negative light than Rhule. Jets at least went the route of actually rebuilding and attempting to build a new from the ground up. Rhule just in no man’s land. New vet the league rejected as a starter each season. Already on a 2nd coordinator and I don’t think anyone can actually declare what our vision really is at this point. We have a HC that keeps rambling about running the football and hiring OCs that don’t.
-
what are people ignoring? There is no factual good on Rhule as a NFL coach. Matt Rhule isn’t a good NFL coach. And I don’t think there is an actual argument he was a great college coach either.
-
I think the BOA crowd determines his fate. If we are losing and he is getting booed out by midseason (like last year)…..he gets fired in season. Rhule better have something to show for after Brady/Tampa get done beating us at BOA. If not, that IMO will be a bad crowd for Rhule. Rhule is going to need to win early and at home. If he does that he probably can last the season.
