Orlovsky: Pickett doesn’t have anything that isn’t coachable
CRA replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
yeah, so was Will Grier. Will Grier was Heisman finalist and was very good his last season. He actually had 2 very good seasons back to back(unlike Pickett). Grier also played a tougher SOS in both his good seasons than Pickett did in his one. If Pickett was coming into the NFL last season or even Will Grier's seasons....no one would be talking about spending a 1st round pick on him. And certainly not the #6 overall pick. -

On top of the ACC power having an offense that made the Carolina Panther offense look good last season? Well... the Coastal Division Pitt plays in was super weak last year. Miami and UNC finished as top 25 teams the year prior. Both stunk last year. ND was part of the ACC the year prior too who finished top 5 with Clemson and they were removed from the equation. ACC was definately weaker Pickett's one good season than it was the season prior. -
Justin Fields probably fits that though. I mean, he doesn't have the same elusiveness as those two but he has the speed.

yet he stunk for 4 years at Pitt. Had one good season in year 5 that happened to be in a down year for the ACC (which is still weak in a strong year). We are going to spend the #6 overall QB on a guy who is basically on par as a prospect overall as a Will Grier. But Grier at least was drafted rightfully in the 3rd round. Which is what would have happened to Pickett in a good draft class too. -
Most teams lose because they don't know why they lost.

That was probably one of two speechs Rhule debated to go with. He probably thought about just walking in and putting up this sign -
It all depends. Given we have just the #6 pick and our next is a 4th rounder? I don’t like any QB in the draft.
-
Fields was the no brainer pick when he fell last year. Problem with this year….is there isn’t a QB worth taking at #6. So because of past mistakes they make another and draft some 3rd round talent at #6

I mean, it's not just about the the fact he inserted the word boy into the insult. That's part of it but only part of it. But if you feel the need to defend Urban Meyer have at it lol.

They are building from the ground up. Which means you need your draft picks. You don’t give them away for one player if you are really trying to build. Panthers are example of building done wrong. Wasting building picks in trades and bad ones on top of that

He was setup to look bad and did. Nothing more. get some NFL coaching and NFL talent at WR and I think Trevor will be fine.
-
I still think we were sold at the hire that he was some sort of Dabo lite (minus the preachy religion aspect). Which also isn't what Matt Rhule is. I just don't buy him being a great rah rah guy and yet falls apart in front of a microphone as some nervous know nothing to even the most basic questioning. And a players coach doesn't make weird statements about sitting down with his QB for the first time half way into a season.
-
I don't hate Matt Rhule the person. No reason for that. I hate Matt Rhule as a NFL HC and I hate the fact he we are still wasting our time with him after seeing 2 years of what he offers.

Observation: Panthers want to Draft a QB but...
CRA replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not sure the Texans will be looking at QB with the #3 pick. BPA might make the most sense for them. They drafted Davis Mills in the 3rd last year and he didn't look too bad. A lot of these QBs being talked about this year IMO would have been close to 3rd round picks if they were in the draft last year. -
The ranking might be right BUT those aren’t the type QBs you draft at the top of the first round
-
Both wore a glove on their throwing hand in a small fraction of their NFL starts.

well, Trevor is a boy from the south. Urban was at least implying there was something else there. then again, if you don't know who Aaron Darnold is.....maybe Urban didn't realize Trevor playing at Clemson and was born in GA. I think Urban just chooses to belittle everyone in a powertrip move and is a just a shitty human.

It was dumb to pay him CMC. But we did. So when he is healthy, we should give him the reps his contract implies he should be getting. When can limit his reps and he still can get hurt. Then what. He should get 20 touches a game.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)
CRA replied to janderson20vt's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s a QB desperate league. I know that. And I know when there are no good QBs it helps the meh QBs get drafted higher. Pickett isn’t comparable to Trevor, Fields, Jones, etc from last season. Pickett would be a 3rd round pick in a good QB class. -

Will Grier was a better QB in college than Pickett Pickett isn’t a good prospect. There are no good prospects. These aren’t first round caliber QBs. -
Cam is a pros pro in reality. and Rhule did him dirty. No one he is going to come back and play for a desperate Rhule.
-
Panthers lack sufficient coaching and QB play to be in win now mode. the answer to those problems isn’t arriving for the 2022 season
-
Not being as dumb as the Browns were in this moment shouldn't be a stock bump for our current clownshow. The Tepper/Rhule braintrust hasn't shown signs of getting better. They just didn't get dumber.

Watson signs a mega deal with Hou sits out a year. now has 22 civil lawsuits Result for him is getting a raise and the largest guarantee in NFL history. The NFL is something.

Watson got a big raise. Didn't see that coming.

Ochocinco got better scoops than Cobb. Never forget.
