  1. well, I haven't heard an argument that makes sense to take on a pricey win now QB and then spend a top 10 pick on a QB. Who has done that? because you aren't committing to anything really. That's no man's land. you sign Carr and you try to win now or you spend a top 10 pick on a QB and try to get him ready ASAP. Those make sense.
  2. I think it does. You sign Carr, then you need to use those resources on aiding him. Not drafting a QB. Because while a low end version of it....he is a plug in and try to win QB. I don't get the Carr and draft a talented rookie QB narrative working together. Breathing room to get the rookie pick right? We have been waiting since Cam got hurt. This franchise has had nothing but time and room. There is no perfect storm you can keep waiting on.
  3. yeah, but that isn't a likely position Carolina would take. You get Carr and you are committing to making this the Carr Panthers. Therefore that #9 isn't a QB. You are tryin to win with Carr, not build around a top QB prospect. The resources would be used to aid Carr's team.
  4. Carr = Cousins What's the point big picture of going down that road.
  5. Sam's a free agent. We don't have to give up our #9 pick
  6. yeah, I actually don't even think of USC anymore. They have disappointed transitioning for so long and been so well rounded about it. At least the top prospects. St. Brown isn't enough to change it.
  7. I mean, yeah, ideally, I agree on the OSU part. But for a realistic example that just happened to play out to use. I generally don't like OSU or Bama because the overly talented rosters skew way too much. 2 best rosters year in and year out.
  8. Manning, Luck, Trevor. Outside of them, only hindsight IMO would make you feel could about giving up the farm for anyone though. I also frankly don't give a poo about being 9-8 and making the playoffs and being done. Either you find a special QB or you don't matter. That's where I am at. That's what I think has to be your priority. It's why we should of drafted Fields when he fell and frankly keep drafting QBs high when they fall until one develops. Let's say you had Fields and then Stroud fell. Cool. That wouldn't be bad. Keep adding you talent at QB until you got someone special. That should be the approach IMO instead of Teddy, Sam, Baker, Carr.
  9. I too have agreed the price for the top spots might simply be too high. Largely because of so many QB needy teams ahead of us too. It's not a good spot for us. It certainly will be too high of a price for the masses here. It would cost more than Lance most likely for us. Folks ahead of us will ensure that IMO.
  10. I know we have virtually no talent in our QB room. Only chance to really win in the NFL is to get talent there. So again, in the end, it doesn't matter what their order is. We have to start prioritizing adding talent. Stroud is just my guy in this lot. and if this front office is going to holdoff for some dream scenario before they add legitimately high talented QB prospects? I won't be a fan of them. Because if my ideal QB is a Trevor Lawarence? Which it frankly is? I'd wait forever most likely and then be gone. and if Stroud was there at 9 and we passed on him? Like you suggest he might be. Because we had some recycled vet another team threw away? Well, then my position on the Frank Reich era will be very negative.
  11. my preferred guy is Stroud. But I can accept Young. I want them to take a shot on a young super talent. Even it isn't their #1 guy. Which you almost never can get. Which is why you can't always hold off on that dream materializing. If your ideal QB is the next Trevor Lawerence? Your coaching career opportunity isn't going to be long enough likely to ever realistically get a chance to go all in on that type prospect.
  12. I'd like to trade up for Stroud. I'd like to trade up for less than Stroud for Young. but I don't like the whatever it takes tagline. There are limits.
  13. sign Jacoby. Then you make a move to draft a young kid. Jacoby would be able to be in the room and knows what Frank wants to do. So you aren't having to start from scratch with everyone.
  14. winning now requires immediate fixes though. That would mean free agents. I think we got too many holes. guess it also depends what a persons meaning of win now is. win now for me means actually trying to win a ring. to a lot of Panther fans it might just mean 9-8 and losing first round in the playoffs. Which would be excitement not seen in some time.
  15. I just want new. Different. Draft and build. Recycled QB named Carr? Seems like a predictable outcome we are in denial of.
  16. we need a lot more to win now than a QB.
  17. Shenault is a good football player. Not sure how good of a WR he is. I mean, he was schemed up for some YAC plays and did that. Almost all his yardage was off that. You wouldn't want to put him as your #1 or #2 on the outside based on what we have seen and go into season like that.
  18. do they have something similar for other positions? I went looking and couldn't find it.
  19. I think he walks away from football. If he plays, he is going to go for a team built to win a Super Bowl today.
  20. Also, the top tier guys? Take a Nuk Hopkins before his recent issues….was a freak show with Davis Mills. He didn’t need Watson to make him elite. Moore’s ceiling IMO isn’t just limited by poor QB play. He doesn’t have insane route running, hands or freak tools you see with the elite 1s. DJ is just a well rounded good WR. from what we have seen to date, I think DJ is best described as having a high floor. Everyone loves DJ. Saying he is a 16-32 ish #1 isn’t hate.
  21. I wasn't critical. I said I would have to wait and see who his hires are before I got too excited. I do think there was concern that post Matt Rhule Tepper would go too far the other direction and I didn't want us to become the land of recycled NFL coaches. He definitely is building a competent staff vs Rhule. Real curious to see what we officially do at OC and who really will call the shots and shape it I like the DC hire. I don't mind some old heads there for consulting. But defense hasn't been what I was keyed in on with the new hire. We have been able to pull that off under every HC essentially. But the QB/OC direction is really what I was going to base my decision on in terms of getting exciting. I'm still probably in the trending to hopefully love it camp. Not there yet with the OC/QB unknowns.
  22. lol. yeah, every team in the draft gets exactly who they wanted, when they wanted. Plan Z magically becomes the plan A.
