I see Sam to the Rams possibly in the near future...
CRA replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
no one is trading for Sam even if we pay all his salary. Everyone outside of Matt Rhule knows you can't play him. -
Problem with evaluating our DBs in our practices…..is we also have very weak QBs. So how much of it is the bad QBs vs great DB play when it comes to Henderson.

The Brand Building a NFL team via unwanted Jets, Browns and Jaguars. Sprinkled in w/ some Temple and Baylor folks. -
I think they rolled their eyes because most people know Baker is better. But it doesn’t appear Matt Rhule views things like most

Trubisky managed to pull off a career winning record and a has a better comp % than anyone on our roster. He isn’t good. But the Bears weren’t loaded around him and he didn’t fug it up the operations to thrill point they couldn’t win playing very traditional ball. Steelers probably got a better dude in front of their rookie than we do.

PJ is practice squad eligible. I don’t think Rhule dumps his guy in a hotseat year. Especially not one where we stumbled into 2 wins with him. WWRD

Saturday Panthers Back Together Practice - Who’s Going?
CRA replied to falconlynx's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam is doing exactly what he did last camp. Checking down. Playing it safe. We saw what that lead to in season…..the worst season of his career. Sam isn’t a NFL QB. -

Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose. PJ Walker will go down in history never having lost a NFL game. -

It’s almost like we have the Jets and Browns leftovers and discarded players -

Rhule is a micromanager of all things football. It’s not a secret. Rhule’s fanboys like to forget that fact. -

Matt Rhule is the HC. Pretty sure Matt Rhule sets the tone for how things are going to be. And if there will be a QB competition and what that looks like. It’s not the QB coach demanding Baker/Sam have a “competition”. He doesn’t have the power. That’s Rhule. The dude in charge of the whole operation. and our new center who clearly is better and was brought in to be our C apparently has to “earn” the right….despite being a vet. And despite being clearly better. That’s again falls on Rhule. The HC. He is the dude in charge. new guys have a lot to work on. Silly to not let the guys who clearly should be starters and brought in to be such not get the work they need. Especially when so much if it is chemistry and working beside guys (both at QB and OL). -

Which is exactly what Darnold did all last camp/preseason. Only make plays/throws a rookie could do if you told him to check down and only play safe. Corral can do that -

OL play in the NFL has a lot to do with chemistry between the lineman. Playing next to guys and learning how the guy next to you handles things. No reason for him to not be at center. It’s college coach Rhule showing himself. Same with the QB “competition”. In the end end he is just robbing guys of reps they need. Both guys are new and can use all the starting look reps they can get with the starters. -

They are fantastic if you got small kids. Best shoe in the world come summer time. I’ve bought a ton of them for my kids.

Sam Darnold’s family has joined the board

Some of it might chemistry fit. OBJ has thrived with mild mannered QBs. The year Cleveland went to the playoffs OBJ had 300 rec yards and missed half the season.
-
they should kill this comp and give Baker the reps he deserves and needs. Then let Corral get backup caliber reps for growth. Sam and PJ are what they are and we already know it. Neither are the future or should play this year

Nope. This QB battle is counter productive. Baker is the best QB on the roster and Sam is essentially taking reps Baker and Corral should be splitting.
-
Corral then. Because thanks to Rhule’s battle of meh QBs despite the better one being clear…Corral isn’t going to get reps.
-
Defense generally comes out ahead of the O historically and Baker is throwing to all new players. plus a lot of practice demands a throw for the rep. Which riskier throws are just part of the practice rep IMO. Doesn’t do a lot of good to toss one into the sideline because the throw isn’t there.

It’s not totally pointless/irrelevant. Tone setters. Mindset. Work ethic. It’s a positive. Cam was first on the field basically his entire career.
