QB/OL/DL. That's how I think a personnel guy should be largely evaluated. If you can get talent there, you will win in the NFL with even an average coach. I'd still give Fitt an incomplete at this point.
-
lol, but I would think Baker is actually cool w/ 95% of the Browns players. the couple players that don't know him might try to use the comments as fuel. Rest of the team just knows it is Baker being Baker.
-
lol, yeah, that full quote by Myles Garrett shows how silly this whole thread is. Whether Baker did or didn't say it, it doesn't actually mean anything. Garrett has spent years listening to Baker and that's just Baker. Garrett might be extra amped up. That cuts both ways sometimes. But it won't have anything to do with what that reporter claims Baker said. It will just be he gets to finally give it ago against someone he has always been forced to be hands off with that talks poo.

“If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterback in the NFL, I’m done. That’s it. I’m out.” - Mel Kiper Jr

I don’t think he has that much to do with Chubba at all. Think it has to do with how small we are at WR and them not trusting TMJ to be ready for real reps. He is the big congested red zone type guy I guess (which we don’t have at all, not even a TE) and run blocker at WR. Which Robbie is neither and TMJ a was suppose to be more of than Robbie offered IMO. You don’t want the new guy pass protecting on 3rd down. And he doesn’t know the playbook. CMC is the guy you want on 3rd down IMO. If you were going to spell CMC it should be on early run downs and that is the one thing Hubbard is somewhat respectable at and Foreman can do.

Pretty much. The muffed punt turnover is brutal though
-
I liked they kept Roberts on the initial roster. Shi didn't run punts in college and only logged in 3 returns in the preseason. I think he can be the guy. But I'd probably like Roberts out there early on. Especially bigger pressure moments to field them to start the season. PR is just a weird gig.

I think a better wording would be he doesn't like big personalities. And I don't think that really is that odd big picture in world of coaching. but coaching in the NFL I think largely means you need a HC who can effectively manage that type of player. And there clearly is a limit on how many you can have around. Coaches love a vocal leader like a Jordan Gross. I mean, Gross would be a textbook ideal player. Cam? 89? Those are big personalities. You can't have too many of them on a team. And frankly, they do cause extra headaches. But elite and special teams often find a way to manage those types. I don't equate Baker to as big of a personality as those 2 but he trends more that way than really anyone else Rhule has seen. I really don't count Cam coming in a for a couple games last season.

I mean, I don't think it matters. It's not like players don't talk poo on the field every single Sunday, of every week, of every season.

Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault
CRA replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Daniel Jones IMO has to be the odds on favorite to be the next Panther QB if Rhule is still employed here. -
1. Riverboat Ron 2. Desperate John Fox 3. John Fox 4. Ron Rivera 5. Dom Capers 6. Matt Rhule 7. George Siefert
-
lol. I fixed it.
-
I think Fox and Rivera were about the same. Solid coaches. Who both had stretches of really solid coaching specifically in seasons were things started to go south or were forced to dig out of holes they basically put themselves in.

I haven't either. There were some "fan" twitter accounts claiming stuff last night but I haven't seen anyone legit report it. -

I referenced that yesterday. The in on every deal mantra. I mean, clearly you wouldn’t want to be in on every deal. That becomes foolish at a point. -

What did we give up for the jag that played for the jags? this in on every deal mantra clearly has cons to it. we end up being the only folks at the table with no one stop us. -

The Rhule Panthers really love collecting the unwanted from the Jets, Jags, etc. Struggles to get open. Slow. Watched a lot being a Trevor stan -
It was an even heavier pass ratio vs Buff than his normal in season play calling. That’s your extra data point.
-
I would think McAdoo's track record as a playcaller would be more relevant than his preseason pass ratio. Given there is no game planning and the emphasis in preseason is about working specific scenarios, situations, etc. And his ratio as a playcaller is easy to find. You were the one hypothesizing about what McAdoo might do this season in terms of pass ratio. Based off history, it says we are going to pass slightly more. vs Buffalo we logged officially 25 rush attempts and had 36 pass attempts. So that trends an even higher pass ratio than McAdoo is known for. So again, seems relevant if you want to talk about our O.....what Rhule says he wants to be seems like a pretty relevant topic to reference.
-
Matt Rhule's new OC calls a higher % of pass plays than Matt Rhule's old OC. it's just example 32493 of Matt Rhule's rhetoric always being nonsense. What Matt Rhule has been and is to date remains relevant in Matt Rhule discussions. There is no 7 year plan, there is no vision and there is no identity. Every year he is just throwing junk at the wall.
-
didn't want to talk pass ratio huh and Rhule rhetoric? Understandable.
-
Matt Rhule: I had to fire Joe Brady because he didn't run enough also Matt Rhule hires a new OC that passes at a higher ratio than Joe Brady

I’m not advocating for heavy investment. Just advocating for the type of depth. We were able to find Ameer last season. But it took weeks for him to start getting more involved and he never really got the volume he deserved minus CMC. If he was already on the roster and locked into the 2 spot when CMC went down we would have been better off. Ameer was the best RB on the team last year at the end but we didn’t have him ready to go and he wasn’t treated as such largely because he was a midseason add. If your offense build around CMC. You should have a similar style RB IMO behind him so what you do doesn’t have to drastically change. Hubbard can’t catch. Im talking 21 and now 22. They did have it in 20 with Davis. And the O didn’t implode in 20 when CMC went down.
-
I mean the bar for our #2 spot is basically can you catch an easy pass. wish they would have added a RB like Ameer before the season started last year instead of once CMC got hurt. Same applies this year. Stylistically, I think we should have that diverse pass catcher:runner to sub in for CMC and be there if he got hurt.
