  1. It happens all the time though. And we traded up to the #1 overall spot. We have no one to fool. Historically, teams more often than not make it known who they are taking in that spot before the draft. That wouldn’t be abnormal for it to occur.
  2. That argument really doesn’t work that well when you trade up to the #1 overall spot. You don’t need to fool anyone. No real purpose
  3. TD saying it ain’t going to be Young. Or Stroud. And he dislikes who a couple front office guys got a thing for. Gotta think he talking about Morgan and company maybe?
  4. ideally he would be in the slot but we don't have 2 guys to throw on the outside right now.
  5. He was injured last year though. Went to IR I think half way through the season. He is a niche player. We don’t have anyone on the roster that does what he does.
  6. I don’t think so. I think he is like Luke. Just smart.
  7. Trevor and Luck even didn’t love football enough. If a QB lacks a concern, someone will invent it.
  8. Yeah. Certainly looks like we moved up not being in love with anyone and would “figure it out”. which I don’t love.
  9. Team with the #1 overall pick doesn’t have to play games though. Entire league knew we were taking Cam the year we got him.
  10. If we traded to the 1 spot and gave up all that to get Richardson…..that seems like another poor move by this braintrust. Nothing really against Richardson the prospect…but his odds were too high of being available where we were. And if we weren’t head over heels in love with anyone why do it. We could have just drafted a guy that had decent potential at our old spot. Any of the 4 would be worth a swing to a team in QB purgatory. Why give up all that we did.
  11. Maybe Tepper was duped. Maybe he just is a bad decision maker or lacks actual patience outside of the very specific finance world he comes from….and he is interfering in all the plans Rock Hill was go and then a no go The Charlotte property was a go and then a no go We were going to hire Rhule and build long and slow. Then we are running after Stafford, Watson and everyone with a pulse and trading away draft picks. That never jived. Still doesn’t. He brought back Rhule in 2023. Then fired him early in the season. That never really made sense. Either way you cut it. Letting him stink made the most sense once you made the mistake to bring him back. Then we traded away all the skill players you would want to have around a rookie QB….and now we look prepared to draft a QB #1 overall. And we gave up a ton to get to #1 when a top prospect likely could have been got at our initial spot. Hope for the best. Tepper just doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt IMO st this point. He has to earn the respect given how consistently bad things have gone
  12. Yeah, but we don’t actually know a lot of that. That’s my point. It’s all politically BS talk. And you never get a clear cut answer for the most part. Who had final say? who was the final say on Icky? Horn? Trading CMC? Trading up for the #1 overall? The Jets boys? And there bad deals? when Rhule left he sure took the stance his power was overblown. Probably was from the narrative here IMO. and the biggest red flag for me. Is our actions never matched the rhetoric coming out. What was our plan? Came off like there were always 2 different ones in our front office. Build slow and win now moves. Once the Ron era ended…..we have never appeared to have a sound vision/plan IMO.
  13. I mean do a hypothetical and say they miss on this #1…..and then do breakdown the draft picks and all moves under under Fitts watch? it won’t be pretty. I still think we should have had a complete overhaul and paired up the GM/HC. Put them on the same timeline.
  14. Yeah, I don’t agree with what that. That’s selective blame. It’s Tepper’s team. He hires those guys. He is the constant and will be. and you are selectively laying all the blame where convenient. For example, claiming it was all Marty and then all Rhule. and whatever power Rhule did or didn’t have….clearly changed after 2022 when he should of been fired and they didn’t. Which you omit. it’s just carving out a safe space for Tepper and Fitt IMO. Who easily could just be equally as problematic as Rhule in their own way. Fitt for example can go down as worse than Marty. That’s still exists as a possibility.
  15. I’d say both. this franchise has 5 straight losing seasons under his ownership. That’s the Tepper Panthers. Only 2 franchises are on a worse run
  16. Do we know that? I mean you have decent odds of landing a pretty good QB prospect where we were. Maybe that’s largely Dave that wanted to give up our 2023, 2024 and best player for the #1. He tried to go for Watson last offseason. Stafford. Always looking for a big splash that often ran counter to the “narrative” we were trying to build things from the ground up and take it slowly. He just struck out on making it happen. But we kept trying for something big. Who knows. Whatever Tepper is or isn’t….a I doubt it is going to drastically change.
  17. Think he is saying when they initially traded up the 49ers initially intended to get Mac Jones (which was the rumor)…..and over time ended up liking Lance more and changed their minds to him.
  18. I mean, the coaching staff is like going McDonalds to Ruth’s Chris. There is no denying that. But we don’t know what Tepper really is. Bad owners are bad owners. Add talent or coaches…..they generally show themselves regardless. NFL is generally pretty clear. Based on track record, if you had to slant Tepper as good or bad he does look like he might be a bad one to date. But it’s too early to know
  19. You could want to do something….and it end up not making good sense. Maybe they wanted to go get Hebert and evaluated the cost at the time. And that was that. You don’t have to talk someone out of something if they decide the cost is too much for them. So it doesn’t have to be someone in house convincing them not to. lot of teams probably wanted to move up to the #1 overall this year. The cost when inquiring can do the convincing to talk someone out vs differing minds in house. I think Tepper green lights all the big face moves and cost moves. Think he has spoken on that clearly. He is going to be part of that process. Back up RB? Not a Tepper brainstorm. #1 overall? Tepper is in it with a real say. Which, I think would be normal. I would think our next draft pick will be the one Tepper has been the most in the mix of to date. Outside of us trying to get in on Watson. Tepper was most likely a big player in that. Those types are scream ownership. He isn’t hands off there IMO
  20. I mean, they haven’t been smart. Tepper has been the owner for more than a half decade. You can’t cherry pick it down to the last 3 months and overly weight it. and despite the hires of recent months we are also going heavy risk with our resources. A steady trend that hasn’t been panning out. people way to eager to praise Tepper. I got no beef with complimenting the hires. But you can’t call us well run yet. Lot of poorly run teams have hired good coaches before.
  21. No one really knows who much or little Tepper is or isn’t involved. He was hands on and now he is hands off? I still think Matt Rhule is luxury to put all the blame on. I think there was a lot more stupid going on than just him. Because the argument that Tepper put the entire franchise 100% in his hands and decisions is pretty far fetched Fitt still getting too big a pass IMO
  22. I heard in high school Will Levis was a short order cook one summer
  23. You rarely know the truth. Sometimes it leaks out and sometimes that takes years. Most owners I think are heavily involved in a #1 overall….especially one where you give up a ton for it. Which is rare. Owners are the constant. Which is why they rarely leave massive decisions completely to temp hires/new ones.
  24. Aggressive wouldn’t be my #1 trait. That can easily lead to just lots of dumb things. Tepper couldn’t admit to the mistake after we became a laughing stock after 2022. He wasted an entire season in 2023 because he couldn’t admit the obvious.
  25. Yeah, got to pump the breaks on us suddenly being well run. Tepper finally admitted to a mistake that there was no escaping from it being one. And he pointlessly wasted 2023 because he still couldn’t admit it. Water was clearly wet after 2022. It’s good he took a 180 approach on the new staff but Tepper is still Tepper. throwing cash at coaching names post Rhule doesn’t mean our front office suddenly becomes top end. As of right now, we traded away CMC, DJ Moore and gave up a bunch to pick a QB….despite living in the top 10 in the Tepper era. Nothing about Tepper says he is hands off or a sound leader of a NFL franchise yet. Maybe he will grow into one. That’s certainly the hope. Maybe he will just continue to appear to be the primary problem.
