major truth. The amount of good humans that have been horrific bosses/managers in my life is a LONG list.

mortgaging your future is never a good idea in the NFL because the bust rate is so comically high for even the top prospects. We chose to go the old vet route. It wasn't the only option. Right now we could of been coming off a season with Fields, DJ, CMC and a host of other players that we acquired with picks we never traded away for useless players. We would be better and more entertaining. We also weren't forced into mortgaging our future for BY and destined to for a bad backup. One of the reason our offense has been so pathetic.....is Joe Brady was better than every playcaller after him. And Joe Brady was a newb and not even good. It's why Baker immediately looked better with the Rams than here in the same year. And a lot better in Tampa now. That's your red flag. It points to the people in Carolina that don't suit up and play. The players don't matter as much when the white shirts and coaches in Carolina put everyone in position to fail.

Matt Rhule was your standard run of the mill college hype and they rarely actually get hired the first time the PR machines start up on one.... and Frank Reich just got fired from Indy months prior. Neither were no brainer calls that any owner would have also made. and it is largely reported that Tepper green lighted mortgaging our future to go up to that #1 spot. Which also isn't standard owner behavior. Those are rare occurrences.
-
not technically, Tepper isn't hiring the best that money can buy ....he is hiring the best he can get. Which is an unknown given each year he has made the jobs less and less attractive. I mean, it's already reported they weren't taking the stereotypical route on the interviews.....out of fear they would be rejected that way and look bad.

I would be GM/HC and also operate as the punter. Yes, I listen to the good people. Cam Newton is now Team President. Free beer in the first quarter. All about creating that homefield advantage. First game I insert myself in the Panthers Hall of Honor. I would have a staff that patrols the huddle day and night. They would inform of all your bad takes of me and your critiques of the fake punts I call. I would then pay Jimmy Clausen to do cameo videos to respond to each idiotic post trying to slander me without him having any clue what he was actually doing. You silly mofos would love it. I promise you the next season would be more entertaining than what you have been sitting through.

I mean that wouldn't be a bad thing. But I don't get why people are painting him some Bryce Young fanboy that could fix him. Saban isn't an O guy. And Saban will kick anyone to the curb for better results. I mean Hurts went undefeated in the regular season and to the Natty every year for him......and he demoted him for something he thought was better. And Hurts has all the leadership traits and is a textbook robot in front of a mic. Even in college. You would basically use him in a course of how a QB should act. Nick Saban would have benched Bryce Young for Andy Dalton.
-
Saban's a defensive guy. And he has no attachment to players. He would just move on from Bryce if it wasn't working.
-
sure he does but that’s not even the point. Point is simply, does PJ Walker to Tom Brady look better on the 2023 Panthers team or the 2023 49ers. Bryce got a bump at Bama. Saban wasn’t the GOAT because he had oddly good college QB play. Most of his college QBs were just college average. That’s why almost all have largely been irrelevant in the pros. How many essentially went undefeated with a natty and had little NFL interest? That’s a very recent thing that just started with Tua in terms of NFL thinking they could do something.
-
I mean yeah, 99% have been going there to play for Saban. Bama about to take a huge step back no matter who the coach is that comes in.
-
Oregon coach is the one getting all the talk on the interwebs Dabo more likely to pull a Saban and just retire IMO. Saban and Dabo both tried to talk to folks about the NIL era and nobody wanted to listen. New era ain’t for either one.
-
like Ted Lasso but the reverse
-
I think he means suck like the Gamecocks. Not finishing up an irrelevant #20 in the nation type suck.
-
Yep. No point following Saban or Belichick. Better to be the dude after the dude that replaces them (and it likely won’t be a long time)
-
People have talked about Dabo to Bama for years. But a move makes zero sense for Dabo IMO. Dabo is basically number 2 to Saban in this era. He gains nothing by going in behind and being worse. Just hurts his stock and legacy….and it’s harder to be nationally relevant for him there vs where he is now because of the competition.
-
No. The Eagles told us about Miles Sanders and folks here wouldn’t listen. This guy isn’t it. He is getting fired. Eagles figured out it was his OC that was getting it done. This dude always has been suspect. Goes back to his first presser when hired IMO.

some people are just learning about Derrick Brown. you see guys gets hosed all the time in dominant early seasons of their career. And the reverse holds, where you got guys living off prior years and not actually earning the status in the present. in fairness, no one is watching Brown play this year. Only if you were forced to watch us because we played your team.

With Panthers cleaning house how safe is Bryce
CRA replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
the 49ers are 17-4 with Purdy behind C. Brock Purdy isn't a bust even if you use the most creative mental gymnastics imaginable. That is called a steal. He doesn't have to be THE reason they win. He doesn't get in there way of winning. He isn't a problem. And in theory, Mr. Irrelevant SHOULD be a problem if you had to play him as rookie or 2nd year player. He is a homerun draft pick. -
I think analytics is exactly how we ended up with Webster as our NFL QB. It's numbers. It doesn't account for some obvious eyeball stuff and instincts.
-
an interim ST coach wasn't game planning the O and D. Caldwell/Brown were doing that. Ejiro and Dom. just straight up in game management (which isn't talking about playcalls)....Tabor was strong with the little stuff.
