I mean, there is always someone willing to do something dumb. Doesn't mean it's correct. And more times than not, stuff that looks really dumb often turns out to be that more times than not in the NFL.

I mean, I would assume all the other QBs drafted #1 overall were viewed as very special too. and even the made in a lab, most NFL ready Madden types like Peyton, Luck and Trevor lost opening week. NFL is hard.

You put a Duke QB in the same sentence as Maye simply because he scrambled and ran well yesterday while having frankly a weak game as a passer. Probably that.

Because we are Panther fans. Not Burns’ family. And ultimately want the team to do smart things vs just enrich people with the most possible money they can get from Carolina.

He has already made 14 mill. Panthers already offered him a deal he won’t signed that likely had between 40-50 million guaranteed in it. Chubb’s had 53 mill. So I’m being conservative for the argument. that’s generational wealth already in the bag and done…..he isn’t fighting for it.

I mean, I don’t know what you are really arguing at this point. Dabo doesn’t recruit but has a top 10 class every year. He is struggling with #1 overall QB prospects. He most definitely is recruiting elite talent. Then he isn’t getting it done. He coaches in the ACC. That just is what it is. 7 of the last 8 ACC titles is getting it done. A historic stretch is getting it done. and he has 2 nattys vs Bama. King Kong. Frankly, could have easily had a 3rd too with that first Watson matchup. I don’t know what your bar is. But it seems a tad unreasonable. But I get hating on Dabo/Clemson. Runs like they have been on are annoying in general and I fully understand why most of been wishing for the fall of it

Clemson is on a historic run right now. Something only 2 others programs have ever done. 12 straight double digit win seasons with a top 25 finish. With 2 nattys mixed in. ACC champs in 7 of the last 8 seasons (including last season) Not producing? Dabo is getting it done. What we are witnessing is essentially a comical exaggerated response to an opening week flop on the road. It’s sports. It happens.

Elite players do make coaches but it’s still the best roster in the ACC with the best coach. I feel no different about things than the last couple seasons.

You and a Paul Finnebaum going to stroke out if Dabo finds a way to 10-3 in the end. Clemson still got the best coach and roster in the conference.

Duke QB went 17/33 for less than >200 yards. I mean, he can run. He ain’t in the convo with those other QBs off that.

substantially more talented is debatable. We also are installing brand new scheme across the board on both sides of the ball..... and are trotting out a rookie QB. and while better coached, coached by a slow starter even when he has a vet under center. this is now a win now team and that i sbologna to put that on Young.

week 1 never generally makes any sense. No week lies like week 1.

so we are choosing between option #2 and option #D. I'd be curious to know what option A, B, C were. As well as option 1.

at least Dabo wasn't blaming the chain gang for eating a hotdog at halftime as the reason he lost. one of my favorite parts of Gamecock fans that have complained about Dabo all these years as a whinner.....is Shane Beamer is worse than Dabo. Hard to find someone after a loss that looks worse than Beamer.

that team doesn't exist anymore, nor does that schedule exist against teams that no longer exist. We weren't a good football team. That wasn't good football being played. Peyton Manning went 3-13 as a rookie. Just because you are mentally ahead of other QBs entering the league doesn't mean you are a win now football team.

cool. But I'm largely talking ACC. And with other ACC teams using the portal....Clemson still has the best roster in the ACC. Now if you want to talk about Clemson competing for Nattys vs Bama vs Georgia? Yeah, that probably is a portal convo. For Clemson to be permeant fixature in the college football playoff? Yeah, they will have to move to portal heavy team. and frankly, Dabo continuing the level of dominance for another 10+ years......isn't really realistic with or without the portal. As Dabo said, getting to the mountain top is easier than staying on the mountain top. A 20+ year run just isn't my expectation. We are in the ACC.

nah, some of this is just piling on. Which is fine. That's sports. People claiming Clemson doesn't recruit talent anymore. Then when showed how absurd their recruiting has been.....claiming that's now how you should measure recruiting. Sometimes teams just have a bad day. A comical day. Which means you lose a game where you go 200 rushing and 200 passing.... despite your previous record being 108-0 when doing that. A team struggling to find an offensive identity (with a new OC and essentially a new QB) lost an opening day game to a pretty decent team on the road. They had a bad day. Some if it was Duke. Some of it was Clemson. Bad days happen in sports. You just hope you can find a way to win when it all goes bad. Clemson went 11-3 and won the ACC championship last year with no QB play. They did it not just because of the stars recruits get but because they have the best overall talent on their roster in the ACC. Which was true before kickoff and is still true today. Mufah and Shipley are talented. A bad day doesn't rewrite that book because of two fumbles they were part of. And Cade had 1 start to his name. Young QBs. Kids. Do some really stupid stuff in the process of learning. He had a bad slide. You want to define him as a player off that? lol. You can just look at Clemson. Trevor Lawerence did all sorts of stupid stuff early in his first season.....in a season that ended up being an undefeated natty run where they dominated Bama. So apparently that got all erased. They essentially would have to bench him for Kelly Bryant to clean up the mess early on at times. It takes time. It's not the end of times or Clemson.

Panthers aren't lowballing Burns at 23M a year. Reddick got 15 a year in a deal last year. Von Miller got 20M a year in a deal last year.

They could still have Venables. That wouldn't address the primary problem in Clemson of late. The ability to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage. Clemson D has actually been pretty sound. When you factor in the load on their shoulders each week and what it takes to keep Clemson in a game. No way a D can be really good w/ an offense as bad as the one Clemson has been putting out there.

yeah, I'm not writing him off yet. I think you got to give Garrett Riley some time too. Got to think they can look much better than they did.

Young is still a rookie QB. And the NFL is fast.....and his skill talent is average at best. Rookie QBs generally win with insane defense or paired with HOF caliber skill talent. Only 1 exception I can really name and he was paired with the greatest head coach in modern history.
