We were a smash mouth running offense last year. They looked good doing that. Vs teams that weren’t good defending it. you ask them to be different it isn’t just about learning plays. Icky is a prime example. He fit a Wilks O. He flat out doesn’t fit what you would build for Bryce Young. And that’s our front office being bad showing itself and the impacts down the road. Rhule last season was pointless. Meant we drafted Icky for a Young offense which you probably wouldn’t do

playcalls can impact blocking
-
Doug called the plays in Philly. Not Frank. Frank called them in Indy and San Diego. And got heat for being bad at it in both those spots. Think Frank’s asset is in play design.
-
Ron at least was Jekyll and Hyde. He had a different demeanor when not on the sideline. The book on Frank is the sideline guy appears elsewhere too often too.
-
Frank just doing standard coach talk IMO when he tries to show Brown some respect like it would happen at some point down the the road. They couldn’t pry it from him in Indy with heat. Brown in that article Brown told reporters that the plan is for Reich to call all of the offensive plays this fall but he will be down on the sideline with him instead of up in the box.
-
Frank has been blunt he will be the playcaller to start the year. He isn’t letting Thomas call the plays in 2nd half come week 1.
-
Frank’s never been good at calling plays. He has been complimented on play design. That’s followed him everywhere. We got a bunch of old guys in Frank, Dom, Caldwell controlling and establishing this team and we just need to rolling with the young talent. Frank essentially robbing reps and time from Thomas he needs, for what Frank views as a safe start

We just aren’t a Matt Rhule comedy show
-
But we never did that. We just hired better than Rhule’s staff. our OC and DC combined have 1 year worth of experience in the job. That’s potential. That’s unknown. Frank got fired for bland and pedestrian offense. He is Ron Rivera. He is Jon Fox. and the icing on the coach cake was hiring a couple was hiring some 70 year olds to advise us in the 2023 era. Capers and Caldwell aren’t all stars in 2023. Heck they weren’t decades ago. this staff was about bringing some stability and respect to a franchise that became a literal laughing stock because of Rhule. Which it did. Frank, Caldwell, Capers. Respect across the league. And they got some young coordinators they hope the groom up and see grow. But they got grow just like Bryce.
-
He should have left with Rhule. Fitt was part of too much bad and questionable stuff to of survived. And didn’t have the resume history to be given the benefit of the doubt.
-
You right. Confused it. Gruden took them the next year. Tony built a Super Bowl caliber squad and was fired for not being able to get them over that final hump. He was fixture in the playoffs though and got another gig after it.
-
Only the coaches that made Super Bowls were immediately employed again as HCs though in that list. Rest had some work to do before they got another shot.

That’s because you know nothing Jon Snow. That wildling girl would have told you we sucked.

Preseason Game #2 - who impressed/who disappointed
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Impressed Matthew Wright - the dude everyone thought was part of the equipment staff pregame. 2/2 on FG, 1/1 XP with a 53 yarder. Disappointed The actual people on the football team -
Icky frankly doesn’t fit a Bryce Young offense. That’s the reality. Goes back to pointlessly bringing back Rhule. Meant you drafted Icky for an unknown offense. And he fits an offense like Wilks ran. Boring smash mouth, under center, running. He is a run blocker at heart.
-
PJ Walker might be better than every QB on the roster not named Bryce Young. That’s a problem. Once again. If you can debate that a garbage QB like him might be better than these dudes.
-
He isn’t Rhule. He is Fox/Rivera but with less fire/motivation behind closed doors.
-
Sometimes a punt is a good play - possibly Frank Reich 2023
-
Frank if you're listening - Thomas Brown is HIM
CRA replied to therealmjl's topic in Carolina Panthers
Frank shouldn’t call plays. He wasn’t really good in SD or Indy doing it. Just focus on being a HC. and frankly, I think what folks have hyped up as an All Star coaching staff might be the problem. We got young coordinators. Let them learn and grow and figure things out. We don’t need Dom Capers and Jim Caldwell putting their thumbprint on them and what we are doing. It’s 2023. It’s not a 70 year old coaches league. -
Maybe we don’t need dinosaurs like Capers, Caldwell, etc overseeing the young coordinators and telling them how it’s done in 2023.
-
Stoic Ron and John Draw on 3rd and Long Fox had a baby. His name is Frank.
-
This random dude people that was IT guy or equipment manager….is the leading scorer for the Panthers in the 2023 preseason with 3 points. And it’s halfway over lol
-
It’s not that serious. You got to learn to enjoy the bad side too. Especially when you are bad a lot.
