I think Duke is pretty good. 9 wins last year and return a lot. I think Clemson just lacks a working pass game. I think they got the rest to be really good. Which has plagued them the last 2 years. They got to get rid of this short screen WR game
-
Really been unimpressed with the playcalling given the hype of Garrett Riley too. The bullshit quick screen game is too similar to last seasons nonsense.
-
I wouldn’t call it dominating. Clemson just once again has no offense. The one thing Dabo had to fix….still looks DJUish. Duke QB completing 50% of his passes. Duke RBs got 11 yards.
-
Outside of that blown coverage on the wheel route, Clemson’s D looks to of really settled down after that opening drive.
-
Technically, this is his first regular season start. He started the bowl game.
-
Lot of game left. Clemson got a brand new OC and QB. Starting slow isn’t a shock. Not ideal but not a shock.
-
Well, this hyped Garret Riley O….doesn’t look much different
-
Clemson had the amped up jitters to start. Might be settling down. How the heck a Duke kid on year 7 of college football lol
-
should be interesting, looking forward to seeing the Garett Riley version of the Clemson offense.
-
I mean said they would win. But TCU’s D is and was a flaming bag of dog poo last year. Nebraska should make life a lot harder on that O than TCU did.
-
I think Rhule is going to lose because he has zero offense. I wouldn’t be shocked if Nebraska’s D makes life hard on Prime Time’s O and gives them a bit of a reality check vs last week.
-
True. But those future first are more in line for a franchise taking the #1 overall QB in this years draft than some other teams. Those are assets to build around him. Which will be the focus in the upcoming seasons.
-
Excluding his rookie season….he has won in 5 of his 6 seasons as a starting QB with 3 Pro Bowls.

I’m saying contracts matter. Eagles were simply being used as an example of a good front office. they were able to add an elite pass rusher for 15 instead of 30. They let a committee RB in Sanders walk. Here we are….about to pay a comparable pass rusher double what the Eagles did, we grabbed their commitee RB and overpaid him. Bad contracts add up over time and limit a front office.
-
Oh, to bump those Robbie Anderson is better than DJ Moore we gots to pay him!!! threads. lol.
-
Reddick’s pass rush isn’t a byproduct of playing in Philly. He got it done in Carolina and Arizona. Was better at getting to the passer in each of those years too. I’ve never argued he would have saved or done anything. Comment was Eagles added an elite pass rusher for 15 a year. Folks here talking about adding one for 30. Well, that is relevant if you want to talk about roster building by a front office. Eagles doing it smart. And they have a good roster as a byproduct. You start paying pass rushers 30 mill, committee RBs starting money, etc…..it impacts what you can and can’t do elsewhere. Adds up. Hell, our 6th biggest cap hit this year is Robby Bobby Robbie Chosen Jet. Because we paid a role playing WR like a low end 1.

Probably could have kept CMC and pulled it off. All the Bears got from that deal was pick 61. A late 2nd rounder that was almost a 3rd. Panthers could have likely figured out something else there.
-
I think we are the only team dumb enough to think Burns and 30ish would go together. And his team frankly has us in a weird spot when we turned down a trade we frankly should have made. The front office remains a problem.
-
You can’t get 2 first for him now. That was a desperate team being desperate and we opted not to take advantage….and then put ourselves in a poor negotiating position.
-
I’m not saying he isn’t arguing for it. I’m saying the Panthers shouldn’t pay that and if they drastically overpay him it’s a front office failure. Fitt should have traded him.
-
Then it’s a front office failure. Should of traded him. No other way about it. and that’s why teams like the Eagles win and we don’t. They paid an elite pass rusher 15 a year. A better one than Burns.
-
Bosa isn’t a comparable player. And neither should his contract. Burns is comparable with pass rushing specialist. And that market has already been set by the pass rushing specialist

REPORT: Panthers and Brian Burns not at all close to extension
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pretty much. Must be in the water at BOA. -
Those are all pass rushing stats though. Guys better than Burns statistically like Reddick aren’t in the Bosa tier of pay.
