  1. This is a GM thread. It's about Fitt. If something foolish was done.....you can't say that was Matt Rhule's fault, he had all the power. If something you like was done you like.....you can't then credit it to Fitt during the Rhule era. That logically conflicts. What roster upgrades has he done on our offense? That's actually been proven in a Carolina uniform? The talent around the QB isn't better today than what we were entering a season with in 2020. and I'm cool w/ the Frank/Bryce/etc rebuild. Should be fun. But this crazy talk about going to the playoffs or it's a failed season this year is nuts. It's like claiming Rhule/McAdoo was going to be good instead of the obvious that they should of never even been allowed to attempt a 3rd Rhule season.
  2. Need more than that if you want to compete with a rookie QB. Need better top end skill talent.
  3. again, if you deem Matt Rhule the all powerful OZ and that Fitt shouldn't be blamed for the bad stuff done in that era.....you can't credit him with whatever upgrading you think was done during the Rhule era. It's basic logic 101. I'm fine either way. But you got to be consistent with the logic.
  4. You talking about Matt Rhule's upgrades? Because Fitt was powerless then and shouldn't be blamed for all the bad. Therefore, you can't credit him with whatever upgrading you think we have done that predates this current offseason. Overall, the offensive talent around the QB is weaker entering this year than what we entered the past several years entering with. And it's an offensive league. Which I am okay with because it is a rebuild. So that is going to happen.
  5. again, rebuilds don't exist....given the new definition being applied by the "we aren't in a rebuild, we are in win now mode" crowd.
  6. “Obviously, wanna have some success out there, wanna move the ball, make first downs, score some points,” “Just play more consistently as an offensive unit. And then as an offensive unit—this isn’t just Bryce—obviously, be better on third down. And then, get our run game going a little bit. Yeah, just overall on offense, we just need to have a better outing.” not sure you can hang a mission accomplished sign up for his first team offense and what he wanted. 3 and out on the first drive. Next drive, Giants took a roughing the passer on 3rd down to keep the Panthers in it. When we got down to the Giants 11 we took a sack and followed that up w/ back to back penalties leading to the FG.
  7. I mean, how many teams would you be afraid of because they hired 70 year olds in Dom Capers and Jim Caldwell to help a John Fox/Ron Rivera type coach. I mean, it's a solid old school staff. That landed a super exciting young DC. But the extent to how great this staff is had more to do with being compared to Rhule than the rest of the league.
  8. I think the D will be nice. Might start slow but I think it will be nice. Now, could the offense ask too much of them and that knock them down a couple pegs? Potentially.
  9. preach. if times get tough, we know what we can do.... PJ Walker time!
  10. my question is simply when he actually was in charge to be judged and critiqued. His clock started midseason of last year? Can't really say he upgraded the roster if that is the case. Because Fitt's record of action just started. None of those guys have logged a snap yet for the Carolina Panthers. I'll give him the nod on an improved coaching staff. Even without them coaching a game yet. Think it is easier to do that than with the players. But that largely is just because Rhule was that comical. I think there is an argument until proven otherwise they course corrected too far after Rhule. Frank, Dom, Caldwell. That's just dipping right back into the Fox/Ron pool after Rhule. And if Evero really worked out well this year.....it makes him a temp hire most likely. And Evero was actually the only coaching hire to be really excited about.
  11. they did go full rebuild. New HC, new OC, new DC, all new schemes. They traded away CMC and DJ Moore for draft picks. We are starting a rookie QB. We got a bunch of rentals and band aids all over the roster. the ONE thing they didn't do was trade Burns. That's it. And they probably should of. And they still possibly could this season. But that one decision doesn't somehow not make a rebuild a rebuild. Nor does Frank saying standard PR jargon to a fanbase that hasn't seen anything in a half decade about wanting to win in the process.
  12. but that's the thing with Fitz and how he is judged.....all the bad is just dismissed as Rhule being the great and powerful Oz. Fitz gets this weird carve out that if folks like something it's Fitz and if they don't it was Rhule and Fitz was helpless in it. When was Fitz in charge of things?
  13. We have a rookie QB, new scheme, and the weakest skill talent around the QB being trotted out in week 1 in a long time. I think we will be 2-4 when we hit the bye week.
  14. I think teams should steadily add RB talent in the draft in rounds 4 and after. Easy to find good young talent in this era in late rounds. All you have to do is resist the urge to pay them when the time comes. 4 rookie RBs rushed for over 800 yards last year. 3 of those were found in rounds 4-7.
  15. He isn’t terrible. Raiders just didn’t meet exaggerated expectations. Carr basically is the same dude every season. He is a Pro Bowl QB. He just isn’t Brees tier. Kamara is only missing 3 games and they have what looks to be a cake schedule I mean, anywhere outside of Carolina is going to give them a clear edge over us.
  16. I mean Fitt has a lot of dumb or questionable stuff attached to his him name and little time has gone by to ink in the value he has brought. But people put all the bad on Matt Rhule. All the bad was Rhule forcing Fitt into it. He had full power. Except for anything positive. Fitt worked that out.
  17. name a team that actually did a rebuild then? I mean, we are a textbook example . So if we aren’t….who is? I mean keeping 1 player on D doesn’t somehow not make a clear cut rebuild not a rebuild. Nor does a coach talking to a fan base that hasn’t won in a half decade saying he wants to try to win now too. Every rebuild wants to win games and they rebuild. That’s just PR talk
  18. What’s a rebuild look like then? Some of your definitions would eliminate ever rebuild that ever existed from being called that. We traded away CMC. We drafted a QB #1 overall to start day 1. We traded away our 1 good WR to get him. We got a new HC, OC, DC and new schemes across the board. That’s a rebuild.
  19. First string D didn’t have Brown, Burns or Houston. Giants walked down the field on them with ease.
  20. Josh Allen out there down 14-0 and scrambling around for about 40 yards on a sack. Seems like I wouldn’t allow him be out there.
  21. Yeah, I don’t think it was intentional. SUPER awkward with Bryce rolling up though on his heels and him not knowing lol
  22. Every season is new. That win total from last year is meaningless. Those teams don’t exist anymore. We got to 7 with an abnormal amount of games against the worst run defenses in the NFL playing like it was 1963. the QB isnt just logged as an upgrade over bad vets. He is a rookie. It’s its own thing. Lot to learn and see. Great rookie prospects have a really rough time learning those lumps. Learning to win is hard. And he has an entire cast learning a new scheme while he does. And the roster around the QB week 1 on offense isn’t better than what we have put out there the last couple years.
  23. I’d only go 9/10. Because you know this going to be nothing after that first game in Atlanta.
