  1. that's not what I said though. Maybe it can read that way. I said, special players still show you they are special behind bad OLs. But you aren't going to be a good team and win games with bad OL play. And you aren't going to see consistency. It was meant to allude to play here or play there. Bryce Young (the #1 overall QB) has essentially not provided any glimpses this year showing he is special. That's all. Generally, a legit special player still can find away to show you something in the mess. Aaron Rodgers still was able to show he was special in moments year. Patrick Mahomes has played behind people pulled from the stands. They aren't going to be good versions of themselves and the team won't shine most likely. But you take any great QB and stick him in horrible spot.....and they will give you some moments.
  2. he had 32 return yards Sunday. All the WRs combined had 43 yards. Hell, let him run pointless vertical routes instead of putting Sullivan out wide. At least a defender would have to sort of care about it. that being said, watch him no longer return punts.
  3. Probably has a right to be pissed. Thomas Brown was specifically asked about him today in his presser. Question was in regards to the speed on ST he has been showing and if there was thoughts of potentially getting him some reps. He said because of Mingo's emergence and playing well, it's hard to take him off the grass. Said Marsette was doing a nice job in practice and they would move forward with that. Meanwhile in reality, Mingo had 5 yards on Sunday. All the WRs COMBINED had 43 total receiving yards Sunday. So yeah, maybe a well coached team would be throwing some more looks out there with more players. They were freaking lining Sullivan the TE outside on repeat Sunday. Which just shows they don't even want to pretend to go downfield.
  4. I think Bryce has a QB DNA problem. That's the scary part. May be the byproduct of his "good brain". I think he is of the Teddy Bridgewater, Alex Smith, etc., variety. That's his mold. He might can be a better version of them. I mean, Alex Smith was pretty good when healthy. But frankly the root cause of many of his issues, is Bryce plays too risk adverse.
  5. That’s what Frank Reich does though. With or without Bryce. Every stop. SD. Indy. Now here. there is no adjustment because that's what Frank does. That’s what he operates his O from. No matter the QB. No matter the run game issues. No matter the protection. He overuses it in good AND BAD times and doesn’t adjust.
  6. son of a b.....this was teed up for me to insert the Matt Rhule shrug gif and it seems to of been wiped from the internet. Frank can't even give us a gif. They all mirror the still images of him.
  7. and less offense than debut season of Matt Rhule and Joe Brady pairing.....who didn't even bother practicing the redzone lol. (CMC also only played 3 games so they didn't have the cheat)
  8. I mean, and I think it still even goes back to the Matt Rhule era. Cam Newton spoke on what it was like re-entering Carolina. No one knew how to act. There was no pulse. Say what you want about his game at that point, but I really think Cam came in and was Mr. Everything. He filled the void the coaches and players in the lockerroom hadn't/couldn't. Rhule even acknowledged it. We were dead. No pulse. And that started at the top IMO with leadership in the coaches and players. I mean, you could honestly tell IMO Matt Rhule really appreciated what Cam brought to the table (and it wasn't his football game) I still think we are still there. I don't see Frank, Bryce, Miles, Chark, Thielen being the force you need behind the scenes to of changed what Cam talked about. That's just a guess off their public personas and lack of reporting that says otherwise. But you generally could tell Cam, Olsen, TD, etc were the types to make sure the players were where they should be in terms of mindset, accountability, etc and that came across publicly. Have things really changed since then? Since then we let CMC and DJ go. I'd call them quiet leaders. Never been reported that differently. Leaders but even they weren't doing what Cam noted and Rhule conceded didn't really exist in Carolina. I'd lump Burns and Moton in that same group. All here when Cam walked back in the door and made that evaluation.
  9. Oh I gotcha. I read it different.
  10. I think Dalton will attempt things that Bryce won't. Overall, Andy Dalton isn't a very good QB at this stage though. That has been answered for years. And Dalton saw insane pressure in Seattle. Seattle was so close, so often....it's hard to imagine he would be so lucky if the Panthers allowed that again with him behind center. Unless they fire Fitt or do something that would indicate real change would be coming. I say Bryce has to take the lumps. Because reality is, if Frank and Bryce suck for 2 years. We are getting a new HC and QB.
  11. Jim so fired up he is risking breaking a hip
  12. Nothing impressive about Frank, Caldwell, and Capers in the year 2023. Reminder, Frank was fired almost a year ago today I believe. And that's because Frank needs talent to do what he does. He can't work it the other way.
  13. I'd still like to know why Andy Dalton gets more downfield throws in the gameplan than Bryce Young... it's not like Dalton even had a ton of them in the gameplan. Something stinks. I still think it starts with the retread dinosaur named Frank. I think he is playing things that way an old coach would with the rookie. And that's not today's NFL.
  14. it's the NFL. We all want ideal OLs. Special players still look special behind bad OLs though.
  15. He doesn't even need a monster game. He just needs some special moments within a game to check the box and make people feel good. and Cam delivered those near weekly. I mean, even in a game Cam played like trash....he could give you a moment and you would be like.....well, that's why I drafted him. No one can do that. That's hope. You can attach to that. and while Bryce has some good plays. Hell, every QB that plays more than a handful will have some good plays. PJ Walker can have some good plays. I still don't think he has checked the box where you go, yeah, drafting him #1 makes sense yet. But again, he has no one to really pair up w/ to make the play. And the coaches don't seem capable or even trying to scheme up anything. I mean, they do attempt their one or two schemed up plays for Shenault a game when healthy but even those are relatively predictable we have a MASSIVE talent issue around Bryce. Blame whoever. Someone is to blame. And you got to start changing whose involved in that. I'd start with Fitt. He seems to be the biggest red flag. Been at least part of too many horrific decisions. If it ain't Fitt, Tepper knows who it is, then just move on from Frank if you let him hand pick what went down. Because this is a joke around Young. And folks should of seen this all coming. I can't stand Tepper, but even if he hand picked the QB....he has a right to be mad if the other 2 did the rest. and you have to blame Frank for being just a flat out bad coach. Even if he didn't want any of this talent. He is doing a poor job working with what he has.
  16. and if there was an Andrew Luck at the top of this draft, I don't think the Bears would have traded it to begin with. Top of this draft was more comparable to the guys outside of Lawerence the year they got Fields.
  17. I think people just want 1 really good game. And that's not really going to be measured on a stat sheet. Or just one game with some really special moments. To actually believe he is worth the pick/investment at this level. I don't think Bryce has delivered that moment yet. Stroud and Richardson both checked that box for their teams. But I concede this team has zero people that can make a play for him. Players or coaches don't seem to be able to set it up. I mean, the best chance we have for a big play come from a meh RB (Hubbard) or a bad WR (Shenault). I thought Chark at least was going to bring a niche element to the team but really can't even get open on his own either.
  18. He is largely playing the position the same way each week. Outcomes sometimes are going to be better or worse. It's football. So you get a week 8s and week 9s. I mean, there is an issue w/ Bryce. Who knows if that Frank or Bryce. But the biggest issue in terms of our football success right now is Frank Reich and Scott. Not Bryce. I've largely not given Bryce much heat this year.
  19. Bryce really has been the same dude overall on the year. A bad game last week but I haven't really seen much change with him week to week. I think he plays the game too safe. Which is causing him issues because the adjustment defenses have clearly made. Well, they essentially have played the same way vs him since week 1. Now maybe the coaches are making him play that way. Who knows. I wish they would just go under C run the ball. And build a play action game. Who cares what the ideal vision is. It ain't going to work this year.
  20. Trevor has always been awkward looking. Dates back to Clemson. But that's visual. We used to laugh at little at him, especially early on. For his size and build, he has great athleticism though. Trevor also gambles a lot. And when he had horrific coaching and zero skill talent....he gambled a lot as a rookie. Which frankly I wish Bryce would do. Bryce doesn't even know what he can or can't do frankly....because he plays sheepish with the ball in the pass game. We aren't winning. This staff needs to work on growth. I don't care if the WRs suck. Make them have to make a play. Would anyone be mad if he got picked on a 50/50 vertical ball that Chark got outplayed on?? I would have been fine w/ 4 of those this past Sunday. Only time this team really goes vertical is a busted play pops. They ain't trying.
  21. in the stands Sunday I heard the most people go at Frank. Just during the normal flow of the game. only folks I heard go at Bryce were just the pick 6 type moments. Which is normal.
  22. I'm just acknowledging this wasn't an Andrew Luck type scenario. Did most probably have him #1? Probably because he was likely viewed as the safest w/ an impressive resume. But everyone? Just don't like that argument. and Tepper said he would be involved w/ a face of the franchise type pick. But that frankly is every owner. Every owner is going to be involved in that pick way more so than anything else. I got no issue w/ them picking Bryce. I got a massive issue w/ the GM/HC/owners building a team around him that doesn't fit what he does. I don't love Bryce. I wanted Stroud. But I was fine if they took a shot on anyone. But you then got to put him in position to succeed. They haven't. And it was clear of that early on w/ the talent they put around him. It never fit. And we are seeing the consequences. And on top of that, they are making no adjustments to help him.
  23. Trevor made a massive jump after his rookie season because he got a legit HC and playcaller and put actual talent around him. Trevor’s skill talent was worse than Bryce’s. Zero speed on the field with Urban running the show. It wasn’t just Trevor getting better. It was everything around him got better. so for Bryce to make a massive jump, I think he needs a similar change around him. But that still won’t change the fact Trevor was built in a lab and Bryce can’t make all the throws Trevor can.
