  1. and we potentially tie up a big portion of our cap on a dude that doesn't want to be here and becomes problematic. Ending up with a guy not worth big cap hit of the tag....that ties the hands of a team with no talent from adding needed talent. for me, it thought Burns has been positioning himself for two things. To rip off us and stay here for absurd money.....or force his out of a losing franchise if we wouldn't be dumb.
  2. Vrabel is a better candidate than Belicheck at this point.
  3. You often don’t have a choice once you let it get to a certain place. Lots of dudes walk. You probably see that more than tag and trades
  4. Well, I didn’t see those. He won’t be traded this offseason. Well, never say never with Tepper but it’s got to be incredibly low odds. But I think just given the bad spot Bryce finds himself in he might not finish out his rookie contract here. New coach alone makes that a possibility and the fact Bryce isn’t going to be a good universal for what everyone might want to do on O.
  5. He isn’t safe, as in he isn’t guaranteed to have the starting job all season just because he was the #1 overall pick.
  6. Then what issue do you really have here. No one is arguing Bryce is getting cut or won’t be the defacto 1 heading into next year…..but if you concede the possibility he can be benched next year then you should also be able to get why the next HC will need to add talent to his QB room for someone who can take over and not be pointless.
  7. College GOATs shouldn’t be diminshed for it not working out as well in the NFL. And NFL success shouldn’t let people rewrite what college players were. People taking issue with the praise the Michgan QB was getting acting like it was disrespecting Tom Brady lol.
  8. Well, you declared it was a fact QBs get 2 years to prove themselves 25% of the top 10 QBs in the half decade prior to Bryce didn’t get 2 full years to prove themselves before they were taken off the field and I invested no energy. It was just top 10 over 5 years, We really could look at all first rounders. Top of my head, an example is 2022 first rounder was Pickett was just benched. the table is set for a new HC to bench him next year in season if doesn’t improve. Like Wilson was but higher odds given this coach wouldn’t have drafted him.
  9. Well, it’s not a fact. Last 5 years. And there isn’t really a difference between #1 overall and all the top picks. 2022 #2 overall Wilson - benched year 2 #3 overall - 4 total starts and isn’t with the team. 49ers gave up even more assets than we did for Bryce 2018 #10 overall - traded after 1 year
  10. So one guy had him as the 4th best prospect since 2017…. Last QB that dude drafted was Kellen Mond in the 3rd….who didn’t make it past 1 year on the roster. His biggest QB draft pick ever was weak armed check down king Teddy Bridgewater
  11. Totally deserved. He brought us one of the greatest college football games of all time and was incredible at App St.
  12. Burns is walking and we getting nothing. Been saying it since he came into the year without a deal
  13. we could of trotted out Cam Newton with a shot arm, pulled Greg Olsen from the booth on a bum foot and had Joe Brady calling plays.......and won more games than the 2024 team pulled off. I mean, it's amazing how we keep getting worse and worse at so many different aspects.
  14. Cam Newton worked w/ Weinke at IMG leading into his 2011 rookie season
  15. they also had him in camp/practice. Lance wasn't good enough to be on the field. He wasn't where/what Shanahan needed for his O to tick.....he wasn't there. I mean, he can be way more talented than Purdy and Purdy make the Shannahan engine go more efficiently. Which is what we saw. And all that matters to the coach/team. I mean, I got the 49ers in the Super Bowl at this point. Don't you? I'm not certain Lance is a bust. He could still develop into something. Everyone isn't day 1 ready. That's okay. He sure never appeared that way. But that's the expectation of the pick from everyone around football (fans/media/etc) and there was going to a lot of noise. Trade location stunk for Lance though. He needs injury in Dallas for a shot. I don't think they traded Lance because they thought Sam was more talented lol. I think they were looking to quiet the noise and nonsense everyone would have to do deal with in SF if Lance stayed. It's a distraction that doesn't really go away given what they gave up for him and what he was SUPPOSED to be. They just took it on the chin and moved on.
  16. give me Vrabel. That's who I want. I largely trend young OC as my ideal pick. But we are so bad, give me proven, good and stable. I prefer someone who can right this sinking ship. All the OC picks come with a lot more risk than Vrabel.
  17. in a vacuum it's a worse trade. bad things happen. what the 49ers did however, was not buy into some mistake that they were then forced to be stuck with someone who couldn't get the job done. we shouldn't want a new GM/HC that is committed to Bryce Young no matter what. We should always be looking to build a complete roster with depth. You don't double and triple down on stuff that isn't working. I think Bryce can improve in a better scenario. But it's not a given. He has a lot working against him that most guys drafted in his position aren't having to overcome. And I am totally open to that fact he could have a sophomore slump and get worse. Because NFL teams are going to have an offseason and 16 games to then gameplan for a limited QB. And Bryce is limited.
  18. Yeah, I think it’s sort of overlooked how quick and easy Tepper could be done with Bryce. Tepper cuts his losses quicker than a lot of owners. I mean he is putting himself in position to have to do it….but he still does it. End of the day QB play is just that. What you gave up for a player doesn’t really matter. And it’s why Mr Irrelevant might play in the Super Bowl this year and the last guy who cost as much as Bryce is somewhere on a bench with another team. The gotta give him 2-3 years just because mantra just ain’t something I am buy in todays NFL.
  19. I think Tepper is almost an unpredictable morphing figuring at this point. Overcorrecting. I do think Tepper "tries" to do good. I think his hires have been very different because he doesn't actually have a vision of how to win or what he wants his team to be.....and I think his approach with each coach was very different. But he almost had it backwards. Rhule needed a lot of help to start things off and had none. Not saying it needed to be Tepper. But Rhule needed NFL help. It came late essentially to do deal with the end of days of the Rhule era. But the Rhule era was too light on NFL knowledge. Newb GM. Newb HC. Newb NFL DC. Newb NFL OC. Then Frank didn't need help and Tepper went overboard ramming it down Frank's throat. Old HCs overseeing both sides of the ball. Young OCs. Weekly meetings with the owner. Rhule might of needed that. It killed Frank from being able to be a Fox/Ron and have us be respectable. If you got 30 identities you got none. Rebuild. Win now. Old school. New school. Check in with Tepper. What was the Frank era? No one ever knew.
  20. Nay. I want to quit hanging on to parts of failed and joke eras. Fitt should of been gone with Rhule. The top of the entire team needs to go. Morgan is part of that. Maybe Morgan is great. I don't see the point of gambling with it.
  21. if Bryce is worse in 2024....how many games you think a new HC should stick with him? all 17? It's not a given we can be a joke and he still gets 2-3 years.
  22. David Tepper doesn't know who he is going to be able to hire right now. David Tepper doesn't know what O we are going to be running next year. And David Tepper isn't the dude dictating and filling out the full man roster for the next coach or any coach he has had. and there is no consistent vision Tepper implements and has. His hires and fires have shown that. So we got no clue what he is looking to do next. Rhule was a 180 from Ron. And Frank was a 180 from Rhule. Next coach most likely isn't just going to keep the old QB room the same from a 2 win team..... He is going to be installing a brand new O. New culture. New wants. New direction. And he is going to need options for if Bryce Young gets worse, gets hurt, to help Bryce, install his O. New HC likely will want a QB on this roster that has run what he plans to run. Knows his system. Knows his offense. We don't know Dalton is going to check the boxes a new HC has for his QB room. and just personally, I wouldn't want the same people around Bryce Young on any level coming off this year. If our QB room is just Bryce Young and Andy Dalton again, that seems like a bad plan/vision.
  23. We don't know that. Because don't know who our HC is. What our scheme will be. We don't know what our offense will be. Bryce Young 100% will need a good QB room. It's a given he inherits Young. It's not a given he will want the rest of the room to be the same. And a new HC likely will want insurance. And he has a brand new offense to install. Bryce Young can get worse. Sophomore years are often tough on QBs. Because the league has a full offseason to study your tape and all your issues. A worse Bryce Young is going to prevent a functioning O from getting jump started here.
  24. next hire should have some legit youth and veteran options in the QB room. I think Bryce has to show growth by the midway point next season or the crowds/social media/media will demand a change. The narrative around the team still matters. Always does. It impacts things. Bryce Young easily could end up as a developmental project if things don't pick up for him with changes next year.
