I got no issue w/ running the ball. But I don't see the point in hiding Bryce Young at this point. And I don't want to invest resources or acquire players going forward and building toward a run blocking centric OL. Biggest problem the Panthers have had is bad marriages. If you want to "fix" Bryce Young.....you got to put him in a scheme that caters to him. Not hides him. No real end game to hiding him. I think we should focus on building a functional pass attack. If Bryce can't do it you move on from him after or during this upcoming season. Bryce needs speed at RB, slot, etc in the pass game. You want to call him a PG and distributor.....have a scheme and talent that sets it up. We didn't do that last year.

Diggs seems more of a throwback to the diva era. I mean, if he has an issue w/ Josh Allen and the best window of his career.....he would have BIG problems here. Pretty sure Diggs has always been a grumpy WR with his QBs. Same w/ Cousins.
-
but again, if you realized you screwed the pooch with Bryce? Why wouldn't you just replace Bryce.....vs catering your team/talent/investments toward outdated football going forward? you can draft a RB in mid to late rounds and have a good run game in today's NFL if you got the passing game in place (and that's the most important things to have in place given the rules).

things said last offseason for 200 Alex how that wasn't addressed last offseason continues to be mindboggling. A relatively cheap element to a committee. Fitterer didn't do it. Overpaid an early down runner who Philly told us sucked in the pass game.

it's 2024. Goal shouldn't be to hide your QB behind a dominant run game....especially a #1 overall QB you traded 2 first and DJ Moore for. Entire league is designed to take advantage of the pass attack. It's so easy the short pass attack has supplement/replaced a lot of the run game. We shouldn't be building toward a John Fox O because Bryce sucks. You just replace Bryce. No run game would have been dominant last season given what the pass O was doing. It's actually impressive our run game did what it did last season given at no point was an opposing D worried about the pass.

Ejiro's Bronco's held the same title the prior season. If we don't lead the NFL in missed tackles in 2024....it will be the first time for the DC. Frank/Thomas Brown essentially have caused people to inflate Ejiro and this D. They weren't good last year. They just weren't the comical joke the O was. we should of cleaned house. Too much of the old mess is remaining. This type stuff is why the Panthers continue to be so easy to predict each season in terms of success/failure.

I'd put Higgins in the DJ Moore tier. I mean, I'd take him. I'm still not sure how much he really helps Bryce. I think with Bryce we really need to spread the field and give up some quick WRs/RBs to fixate on small ball. That's what he is at this level. A dink and dunk QB. We need some slot speed and a stud TE IMO paired up w/ a receiving RB (and we got zero parts for that trio). Ultimately, I think Higgins stays in Cincy

you don't need a bellcow RB in today's NFL. If you have a good pass game and scheme....anyone can run. You can draft a RB. CMC is an icing on the cake type player. Luxury.

1 dawg. Derrick Brown. I personally don’t equate being good to equaling dog status. Example. 89 - dawg DJ - great football player I judge it via how I think the opposing eyes would view things. Ain’t no defender in the NFL bothered with an Adam Theilen matchup
-
I’d put WR worse as you largely have 2-3 starters at the spot. And we still can’t hit on 1.
-
Which makes the DJ trade even worse. A million reasons it’s bad. But it’s the one spot we have been the worst at finding talent at. DL? We can find that.

2015 Peyton but with legs and tiny
-
I mean, it’s the huddle. People were claiming Ben McAdoo was gonna be a difference maker and Matt Rhule want in over his head going into year 3. The list is long of what Panther fans will convince themselves in the name of down being up.
-
I mean, some starters aren’t really starters. Look at Bears list of guys that were compared. That’s who Bryce is mixing it up with.
-
Yep, all the comparables aren’t guys any team ever planned to build around. They were shots in the dark or depth that sometimes find their way into the starting lineup briefly. Purdy obviously looking to be the anomaly in the best situation in the NFL. I mean I don’t expect it to be public and said, but if Dan Morgan and company aren’t already acknowledging that this was most likely an error and prepping soon for that…..then we don’t have the right guy.
-
the Bama boys could probably all start a club. Hurts is OU. Bama can't claim him in this convo because he couldn't pass until he got to OU.
-
in terms of that bottom 5 area, it's largely a mix of guys that happened to start this year. They aren't actually the plan for those teams. Replacements, band aid types etc. Generally, teams are drafting and attempting to build around dudes with elite tools. So you take a Trevor Lawerence who actually is hovering in that 15ish area Bryce defenders are claiming he occupies.....his physical tools blow the doors off Bryce.
-
all 32 starters in the NFL can't make the same throws in reality. Throws that exist for QB A might not for QB B. Bryce definitely falls in the camp that isn't going to be able to make all the throws top tier QBs in today's NFL have on the table.
-
Bryce Young is bottom 5 in terms of arm talent/strength in terms of NFL starters.
-
allegedly was catering things to maximize Burns....who disappointed in a contract year. he isn't aggressive. his teams don't tackle well. So.... I mean, he is way better than Thomas Brown/Frank Reich as a coordinator at this point. But we often are just comparing ourselves to ourselves.
-
I mean, Cam Newton wasn't playing the same game as Bryce Young. Cam wasn't checking the ball down and playing small ball. He was gunslinging most of his career. completion % almost goes out the window when comparing a QB checking down and playing small vs a gunslinger going for haymakers and chunks. One is supposed to have a much better completion %.
-
Justin Fields at least gave glimpses that he could be special down the road. That's sort of the Bryce issue. A full season, and he never gave you any of those glimpses to really fool yourself with and have hope. At no point did you ever watch him and go.....yeah, that's why we did it.

some of the total yardage is just teams choosing the conservative approach on us. No point getting overly risky when basic play vs us likely wins you the game. So they played D and ran on us more so than normal league trends.
