  1. well, when they refused two first round picks and then some for him.....they essentially then conceded they viewed him as someone worthy of top tier DE money. Because if not, you take the picks the moment that absurd offer was made for him. I mean, that's when they botched it. You can't have it every which way. Refusing the picks means they had to overpay him. They opted to just botch it all.
  2. I mean, that's a technicality IMO. No new HC or team is going to retain an inherited coordinator into a new era who doesn't want to be there. I mean, even look at how Canales talked about having Evero stay. That was a W for him/the Panthers. I'm just not buynig a coordinator on the cusp of a HC gig.....was like yeah, losing all the defensive talent on the roster paired w/ bad O is a great idea for me and my future stock/goals. Sometimes, I just look at it from a the most common sense stand point and go from there. and again, I largely make my assumptions around what the Panthers have proven to be. A very very very poorly run sports organization. I think too many tend to give them the benefit of the doubt across the board. This place stinks. And when odd things go down....I don't give them the benefit of assuming they are well run and have good plans in place.
  3. yeah, the longest-tenured Panthers beat writer reported on who did and didn't want to do it. Fitterer and Morgan didn't want to trade him to the Rams. Samir did. So I'll go with that as the best version of the situation. Better odds of being true than anything else.
  4. I mean, you could essentially do those gymnastics with Fitterer, Tepper, etc too. Reporting from the longest-tenured beat writer said who did and didn't want to trade Burns to the Rams. Fitterer and Morgan didn't have a realistic plan once they decided to keep Burns and not deal him to the Rams. And that blew up on them. They wanted to keep him and not pay him insane money. Which didn't work. And was really foolish once Burns had the leverage of what the Rams offered.
  5. Morgan wanted to keep Burns and not deal him to the Rams for multiple first round picks. Guys like Dan Morgan are why we are where we are today.
  6. Vision and plans isn't what they do here. They are PROVEN to be poorly run. Poorly managed. When someone tells you who they are, believe them. It's like the trade up to #1. They didn't trade up for Bryce. They traded up to be able to take whoever they wanted. Figure it out later. because under that, you are framing all the reports on the negotiations were a smoke screen/lie to set up a bad/weak trade that was always the plan. That doesn't sell. They botched Burns. The trade is the outcome of mishandling it all for some time.
  7. I think a bad org continues just to fly by their seat of their pants. Tepper and Morgan where both part of orchestrating 2023. Which had no actual vision. Just a bunch of random parts and people forced together. when Evero agreed to stay, they were still negotiating trying to keep Burns. I do not buy Evero was told they were going to purge the D of the talent they did and he opted to remain here. He could of got a gig with a team that wasn't the worst professional team in all of sports. He was able to salvage a respectable season last year. And his personal resume matters given what he seeks to do in the near future.
  8. But if you look at the success Bryce had in college and even our new HC in Tampa….the RB pass game is just a big part of why of things worked. Sanders isn’t going to live up to his contract. He will never fix that hole on the roster. He is just an early down rusher. To me the 3 most important spots to add Bryce is receiving RB, slot WR and TE. We failed to give him the players in year 1. Cupboard is still bare at all 3. Theilen doesn’t have the skill set and his production last year skews that actual convo. Need a YAC young guy there.
  9. Pretty much, it’s the whole everything is for sale for the right price mantra. You can’t turn that offer down if you were the Panthers. The team getting absurd picks virtually always wins on those trades
  10. Still holding out hope for a FA C. I think to an extent, a rookie C plays against the stability they are trying to create up front for Bryce. Get a WR that can contribute in 2024. A C is going to be a project
  11. I mean, if we actually got rid of the people associated with 2-15 everyone would largely celebrate.
  12. We literally gave up the farm for Bryce Young last year. This ain’t a gut and rebuild. This is just being dysfunctional
  13. I doubt there was a master blueprint and he knew how it would unfold. I mean, weren’t they still negotiating to get something done with Burns when he agreed to stay?
  14. Trade Tepper, Morgan and Bryce
  15. It is what it is and if I’m Derrick Brown? Well, I start thinking of leaving. Why waste your upcoming prime
  16. We just moved up and spent tons of resources on the #1 overall QB last year. This isn’t a hard reset. This is just a poorly run org. but I agree, 2020 should of been a real rebuild. We have never burned it down like we should have. But we still aren’t given Bryce.
  17. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the worst franchise in all of pro sports might not be as well run and functioning as you are assuming…. I think Evero would have bounced if we he knew Luvu, Burns, Jackson, etc were all going to be purged from the poo show org he endured in year 1.
  18. Now is also not later. No way to actually say we couldn’t have got better compensation later for Burns. Burns was literally dealt the first moment he could be. It was cheap compensation. I would have sat on him. If it killed the NY deal so be it. FO is working in reverse we overpay when we acquire like Darnold, CJ, etc and get lousy picks when we deal away guys
  19. All true. But Dan Morgan was Fitterer’s right hand man while all that mess was done by Fitterer. I still think that should have eliminated Morgan from being eligible for the gig. We don’t know how much of the mess Morgan is trying to salvage….was also a mess he helped create in the first place. The fact we have to guess on that is why he shouldn’t be the GM
  20. It’s not an about a starter. It’s just about adding a legit receiving option to our backfield. We don’t need to be looking for a starter.
  21. the Bryce Young pass attack IMO should be priority #1. That an easy/cheap add and part (of many) of fixing Bryce.
  22. A-A-Ron is actually what Scott Fitterer claimed he was adding with Miles Sanders. But no more FA RBs. Build your backfield in the middle of drafts.
  23. twitter talking Corbett might get a shot at C if they miss on all the FAs.
