REPORT: Dave Tepper would review play call data, review with Reich
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, it's no secret, I not a huge fan of the new changes BUT I will say this.... I think Morgan and Canales have the potential to address the culture here. And to me, that also is a pretty big deal. Our culture and attitude sucks and has for awhile. I think Morgan gets it and I think Canales is good in that department. But I think in the end, the QB is the end all be all to most problems. That's what you got to hit. I hope to see a very different Young this year. I still don't think this org knows how to build around him. Think Bryce is too unique. Guess we will see after the draft. -
wish I could find Leggette's contested catch stats from last season. I got Coleman's.

yeah, I don't disagree. My only worry is I think sometimes Tepper overcorrects off the most recent error. I think Rhule was a 180 from Ron. Reich a 180 from Rhule. Maybe this one isn't such an overcorrection given he tried to keep what worked (D) and only carve out what didn't (O). I still think he might of gone too young off of Frank. Canales and the OC have a combined 1 year of NFL playcalling between them. Think that pairs up better with vets than a struggling rookie QB. -

for all his flaws, Tepper has proven 1 thing.....he doesn't get attached, doesn't care to be wrong and will move in a new direction quicker than most. He might not bluntly say it in words, but his actions speak loud. You see that repeatedly in everything he does. From soccer, to football to his business dealings. Nothing suggest Tepper will stick with Bryce too long if we need to part with him. -
if Sanders rebounds.....he still is one of the worst receiving RBs in the NFL. Because that what he was in 2 of the last 3 seasons in Philly and ultimately why they parted with him. We aren't meshing talented with our QB. Bryce needs diverse RBs that can catch and make plays. We need what Cohen was in Chicago pre injury. We need to draft RB talent. Rounds 3 or 4 is where you build your backfield IMO. We should always be adding talent. We should quit with FA RBs.

I don't think it's unfair. I think you can do it with both the FSU guys this year. I mean, the following draft profile is on NFL.com. Is that KB? or Coleman or Walker? He’s not sudden and doesn’t have great speed, so beating press and creating breathing room against tight man coverages will depend on his ability to improve as a route-runner. might lack the athletic traits to be a well-rounded WR2. Instead, keep an eye on him as a big slot receiver who can be a red-zone specialist.
-
only FSU kid I want the Panthers to draft is that TE and late. IMO, that's basically what all the FSU guys are but Bell actually plays the spot unlike the 2 WRs.
-
The moment we drafted Bryce....slot WR, TE, and rec RB IMO were the 3 key positions for him to succeed. And we have failed him in those 3 spots. Bryce is suppose to be a PG dink and dunker IMO. So you need YAC guys at those spots.

my argument then and now would be the same. Some of that was just PR to benefit Thomas Brown. The OC who wasn't really the OC thanks to Frank. So you spin things in his favor a little to make him not look like a nothing coach to start off the year. He designed the O by taking Frank's playbook and and then adding his own pages in addition to it. Which probably happens to everyone's offense. Other coaches are probably always adding to them. Frank wouldn't of called a true Thomas Brown creation out of the gate. He didn't know the guy, he was never an OC, and wouldn't know the O. Especially as a HC playcaller where his time in thin. That never would have made sense even for Tepper. He was going to calling the O out of the gate....but the core of what he would be going to was what he already knew and believed in. -

and I still think Tepper forced Reich to let Brown try playcalling when it occurred. In one of their meetings. Then Reich took it back to go down with the ship. I don't think Frank is a bad guy. But Frank always seemed like a dude who knew at the start of the season.....that was all a bad forced marriage. He looked defeated really before the defeats really piled up. Nothing fit. Everything forced together. and I don't really think Tepper would be in the wrong outside I think the weekly meetings probably started too early though. But I think that was the design from the jump. Take these random parts and manage it all. But Frank was going to need to be called out on stuff given what it was. I mean, the entire league and everyone that watched was doing it. Frank was running a bad show. -
I'd tend to side with the Patriots owner just not wanting to look foolish by getting rid of the GOAT (most consider him that)....and him going on to do better for someone else than what NE is going to do. And I'd lay money Bill in Atl would out perform NE.

Brad Idzik settles into his new OC role as players return
CRA replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, Canales is a first year HC with a grand total of 1 year as OC under his belt running a bottom tier O. Just doing the HC job is enough on his plate. Will he call plays? Sure. Input? Sure. I mean, we just did that identical whole dance last year with a vet HC. I mean, Bryce Young is on his 2nd OC and both his OCs were rookies that had never been OC. That's not really an excuse. It's just pointing out the Panthers are doing everything on paper you would say a team shouldn't do for someone like Bryce......but since it's our team we argue it as okay. I can say that and it not be an excuse for Bryce. I don't think Bryce has the tools to be a good NFL QB. But the Panthers IMO are not doing the right things to make him be able to reach whatever ceiling he does have IMO. -

Bryce just needs an actual modern day NFL OC. Not all these dudes that have never done the job before. Which, I mean, might not really be that much of an excuse but rather the painfully obvious. -

we had folks claiming Rhule/McAdoo going into 3 year was about to be something special......it is what it is. They could hire me and you and a segment of the board would start to believe we might be hidden geniuses. -

people loved Thomas Brown behind a podium too. I really don't get the worst O in the NFL.....doubling down again with an OC who has never been an OC off of last season. Hope for the best. But some of this stuff just really is a head scratcher. -
Ginn had that F U speed though. Which I don't think this guy really has

Donnelly on Hayden Hurst and a comment he made about the Panthers
CRA replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hurst is also an example of why I dislike old college players coming to the NFL. Never of fan of the 25ish year olds coming into the NFL. They get this college edge given their age, strength, etc. that makes them look better than the 18 year olds. one of the many reasons I hated the DJ pick last year. Yeah, let's reach on 25 year old meh edge player because he showed some potential vs 18 year olds. -
🚨Tony Pauline: Panthers interested in CB Mike Sainristril @33
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d still prefer the worst O in the NFL in an O league….make this a largely O centric draft. Especially given the talent in it. I mean, big picture our O investment is just Mingo and no one else around our #1 overall QB. Everyone else is a short term option or warm body most likely -
Draft Rumors/Charlie Campbell Notes (Per r/NFL_Draft)
CRA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
3 first round picks for the #4 pick in the draft? That ain't happening. -
I don't think you totally disregard it.....but it's still how fast you run a 40. And dudes spend tons of time perfecting their track starts and all that jazz. And the track kids always have an edge. I mean, is a 4.3 kid faster than a 4.4 kid on a football field? Not necessarily. That's all I mean.
-
I mean, we should take a RB. Singular A being the important part and not before the 4th.

Anthony Rizzuti's realistic Panthers 7-round mock draft
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, but it’s not fair expectations to draft a C and expect him to be NFL average out the gate though. Especially, if it’s not some top tier first round prospect. -
Anthony Rizzuti's realistic Panthers 7-round mock draft
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will be such a Panther thing…. to of spent all this FA money at G….and not a have an average C on the roster which leaves the middle a mess in the end. and I don’t think a 2nd round rookie is going to be an average starter year 1. Especially as defenses come out playing Bryce the way they will at the gate
