  1. you can pull the news articles that talked about Cam Newton being fixture at BOA and in the film room going into year 2 because he knew life gets a lot harder in year 2. He was fixated on trying to avoid the sophomore slump and correction the league makes after they got a year of film on you. Sadly, it didn't work out but he was at least aware of what was coming in year 2. Cam might of done some things besides football in his offseason....but football was very much apart of it. I mean, most big time QBs aren't taking the offseason off entirely from football and unplugging from it.
  2. like last year, I could care less about the record. I just want to see some entertaining offensive play. You got to start solving that problem.
  3. Cam Newton spent his first NFL offseason basically living at BOA.
  4. Threads like this at their core, at least for me, are really just irritations at the Panthers org for the bullshit they sling each year. I don't need it. I don't like it. I like the world without the bot.
  5. sorry, I can't spin it as a positive that he spent the whole offseason away from football. Watching you tube and netflix all day. You think Cam Newton to Tom Brady took entire off seasons off of football? Especially coming off of the season he did? With all the issues to his game at this level? I don't want him obsessing over last season. Dude has a ton of work however he needs to be doing to get better. Lot of getting better is the work put in on their own time and in the offseason. The work guys do in the offseason is often documented and known. It's normal.
  6. He got up did a workout before watching Netflix all day. I mean that’s the picture painted. I mean, just lie to us Panthers. It’s not that hard to do
  7. For those wanting to know what he has been up to this offseason…. "Literally. Nothing," he replied with a laugh. "I was kind of away from football for the most part, just living every other aspect of my life”
  8. and overall I’d simply much rather have Bell than either of the WRs if we go shopping at FSU
  9. Legette IMO is the better athlete, faster than Coleman and better at the contested jump ball I think you can knock both of their route running and press issues. 89 doesn’t like Coleman’s route running in pads or in shorts. 89 consistently talked about Coleman’s interviews turning teams off. Wish he would have elaborated on exactly why he was turning teams off but he didn’t. I just think in terms of ceilings I’d rather gamble on the guy with the highest one and to me that’s Legette
  10. what exactly does Coleman offer over Leggette? I get not loving Leggette, I don’t get liking Coleman if you don’t like Leggette though
  11. Trading down more times than not has you kicking yourself in hindsight. when you suck you got lots of holes. I disagree with watering down picks to gain numbers
  12. yep, I'm all about the WR double dip. Skill position O overall in the draft. Throw a bunch young talent out there against the wall. Something will stick/hit. go rent Gilmore and rent a backup C in FA.
  13. yeah, the combine changed things for him IMO. He went from bottom of 2/top of 3.....to bottom of 1/top of 2.
  14. clearly people not prioritizing medicals on these QBs. I mean, there was no evidence those dudes had it and yet no one took a look to confirm it. All it takes is a quick look.
  15. Trade down by Fitterer's assistant GM??
  16. what this team needs....is Will Shipley. Some orange blood running through our veins. We've been trying to build this ship off Gamecocks for a long time.
  17. great QBs don't make good mentors. Tom Brady has gone in great detail about how he essentially has derailed backup QBs from developing.
  18. I don't like the sprinkle everywhere approach. One of the most impactful drafts we had in terms of immediate impact was a double dip draft at DT. We had a DT issue. We focused on fixing that one problem. It got fixed. I'm going to keep doing WR double dip gymnastics until they fail to do that. I think once you hit round 4.....certain positions are better. You probably are not going to solve anything but project depth at some spots there. A 4th or 5th round C pick has super low odds of working out. I think RB is a place you can get legit committee help right away.
  19. in fairness, Morgan and Canales are also essentially forced to take that stance.....given the Panthers just drafted Young and gave up the farm for him. I mean, I'm not a Young believer. Or at least not in terms of ever reaching what his draft status says he should be. But if I got the gig of HC, I know I'd be forced to take the stance going into this year that he is the answer.
  20. I don't think 89 backed off anything in his evaluation. This happens to be a deep and good WR draft class. 89 essentially likely has Leggette going higher than Metcalf did. Metcalf went 64th in his draft.
  21. That's not all Leggette. That pass O was a joke until Rattler came on late his first year. Which is about when Leggette started to develop. and if we are honest, the U of SC pass game was wildly inconsistent with Rattler because of the OL and playcalling. The fact Leggette had a dominant season out of U of SC is pretty amazing given how he plays and the hurdles. It's not like he is out there catching some bullshit routes all game.
  22. preseason looks always show some basic and core building blocks to an offense. Especially a new one you are installing. You can't really make up fake offense given you are trying to teach everyone the new one.
  23. my ideal draft is Ladd, Leggette with the WR double dip in rounds 2....then picking up Shipley, Bell and Stiggers late. I'd be okay w/ the Shipley overdraft. Ideally round 4 though.
  24. yeah, worst case scenario is teams know Carolina likes a kid....that their insiders already knew the Panthers liked. and if you wanted to get creative. If I wanted him at 39 and not 33.....I could draft Ladd at 33 and then folks might leave him there at 39. Because I think if you draft him at either spot you are over drafting a kid you are sold on. but, I want the WR double dip which ensures the Panthers don't do such. I got the odds super low they actually do what I want.
