Panthers Select Chau Smith-Wade DB - Round 5, Pick 157
CRA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was hoping our late round DB would be Stiggers from the CFL. Think this rules that out. -
Panthers Select Chau Smith-Wade DB - Round 5, Pick 157

I have never heard of this human before but now let me tell you exactly why Dan Morgan is an idiot. I mean genius. -
Philly fans going to go crazy if he can ever get on the field and make a real play….and swings the axe like his dad celebrating
-
Also, so much is scheme and playcalling. HC and OC are rookies . We don’t just have a QB figuring things out and trying to improve ….we got a HC, OC trying to figure things out for the first time and everyone on a new O. nothing screams good season about that recipe for the worst team in the NFL in 2024

I’m fine with Rice this round, I’m done with TMJ at this point and I think Mingo and XL means TMJ should be gone anyway. Johnson, AT, XL, Mingo and probably Moore are locks. That’s 5. I don’t think ISM or anyone else should stop us from buying a late round lotto ticket. 3 of the locks have low odds of being around after this year

I mean, where matters. I didn’t want him at the top of the 4th at 101 given what was there. Have it now. Looks like 32 teams thought the same that round I loved Ruke. Would have hated him where Atl got him. I would have loved Shipley where the Eagles got him. 4th is my ideal spot for building a RB committee. A drafted committee is all I want at RB. Featured RBs is old era football. Would have hated him in the 2nd.

True, most aren’t the Luck, Trevor, etc pathway where they are penciled in from High School. add Cam Newton to the list with Burrow and company. Cam probably has one of the , if not the greatest college season of all time entering the NFL

Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

Without actually thinking hard on it, Trotter was probably the 5th - 7th best guy on that Clemson front. -
Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

I think that’s just a Tepper top down thing. The business guy and he dictates a lot. And you see it all over what they do IMO. A guy here or there is always an exception to anything. -
Panthers Select Ja'Tavion Sanders TE - Pick 101, Round 4

Outside this pick…RAS has still been largely what the Panthers seem to value post Rhule. Think Panthers value that under Tepper. lot do their positional visits and things like feature standout RAS guys -

I don’t hate that positionally, don’t know much about him. but I’ve said rec RB, TE and slot WR have to improve for Bryce to have a shot. They have added talent at 2 of those 3 spots. And in theory, we got guys that potentially could eventually eat into Theilen’s %. -
Your UNC guy, Walker

Who are the day 3 prospects you want to see us target?
CRA replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
DJ was also probably the most physical runner since 89. And we have had a lot of bigger bodies -
Take a WR. Lot of them on the table. Several we had in for top 30 visits. I’d prefer it not be Rice. I think Tepper likes Rice. Sure sounds like Tepper got into that interview and there was some pre draft smoke there
-
bet they trade down
-
As he even says, right now everything is talked about as the best case scenario. Running, cutting, trying to get back to where he was can always alter the timeline. I think you just wait and see. Be cautious. No point going fast. We are the worst team in the NFL. A rookie RB isn’t going to alter things dramatically out the gate. We don’t need him to be a starter week 1. We will get him at some point this year.
-
Fitterer made his name/debut in the draft trading down and acquiring picks. Morgan’s mimics that to a degree. and when asked, they both claimed that wasn’t their plan going in. But I’m not sure how true that is because both went about it pretty quick
-
Canales was 11 heavy much like Carolina last year so we should see an abundance of 3 WR looks. I would assume to start the year Johnson and Theilen are locked in most snaps. Then he rotates everyone else through the same spot. Mingo, XL, Moore, and whoever is else. So limited looks for all. But that’s what I just want them to trade Thielen. Think the pros outweigh the cons
-
Opening snaps week 1, 2 WR sets are going to be feature Johnson, Old Man Thielen, Ian Thomas and Chubba most likely. 3 WR looks are the great debate IMO,

I’m just going by the math and stats. Football players and sports always talk optimistic. It’s also the draft. The average is the average. Everyone is different. he doesn’t need to be a day 1 starter. Heck even without the injury he probably doesn’t need to be that. I see no need to rush him out and have him be a week 1 starter on our wonderful turf.
-
ACL on average takes NFL players 49.7 weeks to return to the field. Brooks went down mid Nov. 56% that return re- injured themselves in 10 weeks. Brooks probably shouldn’t be a day 1 starter. Even if he is trending on the early side of that average and young. Carolina should move slow.
-
How do you know that? I mean, sure sounds like he was in on interviews. And he is one of the most meddlesome owners in the league…..but suddenly isn’t just because? Panther PR is just that. Tepper is well aware of the opinion of himself. So he attempts to manage that at times. I don’t believe an old billionaire is going to change. Because he swing and missed? That’s been his whole life. Tepper doesn’t care if he misses.

Billionaire Karen was just joking.

Everyone knows where Morgan worked. But some seem to paint this odd picture that the folks who were part of the mess and mindset of the last 3 years….were silently raging against everything and now are different. We just traded down with 2 of our 3 picks to plug holes of picks we mismanaged prior. That’s something we did under Fitterer what this staff values in terms of athletic numbers and potential. That’s something we did under Fitterer. and we did a lot to the stuff under Fitterer, in part because of the people under Fitterer. Who largely remain on that side.

I know it’s earlt but Dan THE MAN Morgan is IMPRESSING me
CRA replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, this seemed like a 100% Fitterer draft. It checks all the same signature boxes. And it make sense because it’s basically his old team doing it. I mean some of the draft is just luck and the lotto. So hopefully we get lucky for once. But clearly Fitterer and Morgan share a lot….which makes sense. Morgan and him were tight and Morgan was our assistant GM the last 3 freaking years with most of the same folks.
