And the defense got worse.
-
There is a reason Wilks was coaching at Missouri. His defenses have not been good. His D at Missouri was TERRIBLE and got better the year he left. He's a motivator and tough guy. Good man. He is not a top tier NFL coach and the rest of the league knows that. Also why he doesn't have ANY other interviews.

So which QB do we think will be available at #9?
jamos14 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Houston - 100% taking a QB Indy - 100% taking a QB Seattle, Vegas, and Atlanta are hard to predict but it's possible. So that means 2/3 of Young, Stroud, and Levis will be gone before pick 4. I'll predict somebody trades up for the remaining "top 3" QB (potentially Carolina). Richardson is remaining at #9. -
Just because we might back into first place in the worst division in history doesn’t mean he deserves to be the HC next season. it’s an absolute no.
-
You are talking abut 2 starts when the entire league prepared for him as the starter. AND most importantly, they didn't have CMC. They are 7-1 with CMC. He's the security blanket, especially for a young QB. CMC has had ~225 yards rushing and 75 yards receiving in the 2 games Purdy has started. Maybe Lance isn't good. Maybe Purdy is the next Brady. I don't know but I can tell you that reason he is succeeding is mostly built around Kyle's offense and Christian.
-
Sure. But it's just like a franchise QB. The good ones are drafted. You have to take a risk to nail it. Same applies with coaches. Most aren't successful but you have to take your chance on greatness instead of settling for a guy who wasn't horrible in his first opportunity. Just IMO.

Shannahan's system is the best for QBs; no question. He has made Jimmy G look like a Pro-Bowler for years. Purdy is a good story but this is mostly on Kyle and his play calling, play design, OL, and CMC.

I don't feel like doing the research here but what retread coach has been successful in the NFL? Belichick and Andy Reid are outliers. I feel like almost every great coach is one that's given his shot and then nails it. Most coaches that were fired from their first job are the same coach at their second one.

OC with Herbert (Chargers) and Hurts. Both considered talented but raw prospects who have excelled. He was never with the Rams. Been in the NFL for 11 years. QB coach for 4 years, OC for 3.5 years. Quality control assistant for ~4 years. He's my number 1 candidate.

One "culture win" a few years ago against Washington cost us Justin Herbert. Was that win worth it? The answer is very clearly no. The best thing for this team long term is to have their pick of the all the QBs. Just like we got our pick of all the LTs this year and we got Ickey, who looks awesome.

Panthers are one game out of first place in the NFCS
jamos14 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hate feeling this way but I agree. Making the playoffs because everybody else is asscheeks is just hurting us in the long term. But beating Brady did feel nice. -
And on top of that, what would we do with a 1st round pick from the trade? Immediately look for a pass rushing DE that we can only hope is as good as Burns. Trading him makes absolutely no sense.
-
Some of you guys are stupid as hell. You can be sure that Philly isn't including the current top 5 pick in the mix or it would be automatic yes. For all we know, these aren't even 2023 1st rounders. Burns might not be top 5 DE but is absolutely top 10. Why do you think these teams are offering multiple first rounders for him? Because he's good as poo. And still has tons of room to grow. He is the cornerstone piece on defense to build the team around. You absolutely cannot trade him unless the picks are astronomical.

I'm 90% sure that during the Tepper presser last week, he was asked what he had learned from the previous coaching search. He responded with a search committee being involved in future. And of course the owner always has final say. This isn't anything new.
-
This is silly. Steve Smith had 1,400 yards during Cam's rookie season and was NFL comeback player of the year. Diggs broke 1K yards 2/5 years in Minnesota. It wasn't until he was matched with Allen that he was recognized as being elite. Moore's numbers are very similar. And Tua also has VETERAN WR, Tyreek Hill who is in top 5 of receiving yards this year. Moore is humble, hard working, and very talented. He's EXACTLY what you want a rookie to have in a WR.
-
No chance Wilks has any "final say" as interim coach. That's Fitterer/Morgan currently. But I'm sure everybody was in agreement to get rid of him.
-
Yes. Which equals roughly 12mil in savings. But we have the 9.8 in dead cap no matter what.
-
remaining base salary 690K paid by Arizona this year. Dead Cap next year. $9.7 Mil Savings : $12 mil
-
per Rap. No details yet. I'm sure it's minimal compensation but good riddance. From OTC, it appears this is cap changes: Cardinals pay remaining 690K 2022 base salary Dead Cap 2023: 9.7 mil hit 2023 Cap Savings: 12 mil savings

Agree with T96. The roster is a pretty good unit with some young guys that could also become stars. The glaring problem is obviously QB. Fitterer deserves his lumps because he was involved in Sam and Baker deals. But I think he has built a roster that's worthy of having a shot with a real HC. I say let them both stay.
-
We hardly win when he is on the field.

Kamara won't be suspended until 2023 season at earliest. His legal team delayed , delayed, delayed so he can still play. Losing Gardner-Johnson is a pretty big loss but that defense is pretty stacked. The bigger question mark to me now is the offensive line. They don't have Armstead anymore and Andrus Peat is awful. No clue who is replacing Armstead either because their rookie tore his big toe ligament. Offense is talented at skill positions but I don't expect them to be a top 10 unit. They will live and die by their defense. I'd expect Carolina-NO to have a similar record at the end of the year.

This might be the first time in history I've given you pie. But deserved. Completely agree. -
This makes the most sense with his history with Tabor. Hopefully he is solid.
