What's Wrong With Cornbread?

Yeah this is why "would (insert year) Alabama team beat (insert worst team in the NFL)?" is at best just a thought exercise. They're almost like two different sports. -

Players who are physical freaks with every measurable on earth end up getting dumpstered when they get to the NFL every single year. Guys drafted by Scott Fitterer are no exception, and afaik Deonte Brown was kind of a middle-late round dart throw who got drafted because he's huge. The step up from even the top college programs to the pros is exponential, and he might just not be able to hack it. Sucks but hopefully he's been smart with what he made on his rookie contract. -
Football is back (well, preseason anyway)
The NFL Shield At Midfield replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
That wasn't terrible. He's obviously not tone deaf but there were a ton of flat notes. Oh well, singing is fuging hard and a lot more physical than people think. I couldn't do better. -
I was waiting to finally see this. Bojangles got acquired by a private equity firm a few years ago and their CEO recently said something about "wanting to get out of the chicken business" and "into the experience business". I had read an article somewhere that they were going to start opening restaurants without bone-in chicken. So there we go. It's so stupid. Bojangles had a simple formula: you go into some dingy dimly lit restaurant with wood paneling everywhere and you sit at a rickety table and eat greasy fried chicken and biscuits and drink sweet tea and then you go home and irradiate your toilet. I guess there aren't enough business press buzzwords that can be affixed to that so somebody had to go fug it up.

To those who wanted us to hire Sean Payton...
The NFL Shield At Midfield replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
After Matt Rhule I would have taken him in Carolina in a second. I guarantee his acting like a dick running up the score on a beaten opponent with his Zoolander facial expression pacing the sidelines would have been a lot more charming if he was wearing process blue while doing it. That said, in the real world, yeah fug sending multiple high picks to the Saints for him. I'm much happier with where the chips fell for the Panthers. -
They should have stuck with Washington Football Team. That was a unique name in the NFL and is something they could have built on.

I just referenced Bradford because iirc he signed the richest rookie deal in league history. I think that was the last year before the rookie wage scale.

The version of "Bleed The Freak" from this is one of my favorite AiC tracks
-
The rookie wage scale and fifth year option is one of the few recent developments in the NFL that is actually pretty good and makes the game better imo. High picks get their guaranteed money while the teams that drafted them aren't hamstrung with Sam Bradford type rookie deals.

Is Bojangles bad now or is it just me

Bojangles was acquired by private equity a few years ago. I think their dumbass CEO was quoted recently that he wanted to "get out of the chicken business" and "into the experience business". imo Bojangles hasn't been good since they had ashtrays on every table -
The Meatball opens his mouth again
The NFL Shield At Midfield replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Nebraska fans are going to rip him to shreds if he fails there, as others have pointed out. Overall we have a fairly nascent franchise and our fanbase tends to be fairweather. I'm not surprised some jerks fuged with him or, even worse, his family, but I mean poo probably half the city just shrugged their shoulders at the Panthers sucking and put their Patriots/Giants/Packers/Cowboys beanies on and went about their lives. Now the Huskers, on the other hand, are a fallen blue chip with hardcore fans. They're a program whose history is dotted with undefeated seasons, national titles, and conference championships. In the year 2023, they've had one winning season in eight years. They've been sold Rhule as the man who is going to return them to glory, and from what I've read from the most reliable places imaginable (Twitter, random message boards, Reddit) they're buying it. Good luck Matt. -
