  1. For me, like a lot of people from Charlotte, it's gotta be the big one: Hurricane Hugo in '89. One of my earliest memories is that storm and its aftermath. One of the other ones I remember is Tropical Storm Beryl in 1994. We were in Hickory then and I distinctly remember watching a funnel cloud spin over my parents' house.
  2. Yep it's about that time of the year. The eastern and central Pacific has already had several major hurricanes and it looks like Hurricane Hilary is actually going to have serious effects on southern California, Arizona, and Nevada which is highly unusual if not unprecedented. Thankfully NOAA doesn't expect much out of Six or the system developing over the central Atlantic, but we're just getting started. I bet this will be one of those years where we're getting named storms well into the fall.
  3. Southpoint in Durham is fairly active and seems to still be a hangout spot But yeah as a child of the 90s they are no longer the poo-hot thing they were
  4. I noticed that last night too, and it was disconcerting. The interior OL was getting whipped, and pressure up the gut is about the worst thing for a guy Bryce's size to have to deal with. Back when Brees was with the Saints it seemed like that FO would go out of its way to invest in guards, and for good reason. They gave guys like Jahri Evans huge contract extensions and seemed to routinely bring in FAs like Ben Grubbs.
  5. I just don't get why the line looks so shitty. It isn't like we're starting a bunch of scrubs (minus His Errorness MJ last week but that was because of injuries) or UDFAs or something. No idiotic failed experiments going on like changing Nate Chandler's position and thinking he's a starting RT. On paper this should be at least a middle of the pack OL.
  6. At this point I'd be willing to settle for Bryce surviving the season. I don't think I can take watching this franchise ruin another ascendant star quarterback.
  7. I knew there was some fuging crazy stat about Rodgers in the 4th quarter, but I couldn't remember exactly what it was so I looked it up. He's 3-45 when trailing by double digits in the 4th. Unless his WRs were like me and Alejandro Lastra that's anomalously terrible for a HOF QB.
  8. Brady was compiling stats in playoff games in January 2002. It wasn't exactly the leather helmet days but Rodgers' prime was in the era following Irsay bitching to the competition committee after Manning and his WRs got shoved around by the Patriots in the playoffs a few years in a row.
  9. I still consider sending the NFC champions on the road to open against the team they just lost to in a controversial, poorly officiated Super Bowl as a power play by the NFL to send a "fug you, this is our league and you need to know your place" message to the Panthers.
  10. Hard Knocks is basically a hype reel for the team being filmed. That said you can just watch the game and see that they fuged us up from the opening kickoff, you don't need HBO to tell you.
  11. I'm late replying to this but I tried that in a small town in the gameday thread and caught a suspension. I saw him around campus routinely, he was kind of a small dude for a football player and didn't really stick out much. Really low key and wasn't big on drawing attention to himself.
  12. I don't know how the fug I heard "Brinkley" instead of Franklin
  13. lmao it never gets old, David Tepper is a silly clown. Please keep posting this
  14. The only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that Ickey Ekownu has forgotten how to play football between January and August of the year of our Lord 2023
  15. This is without Aaron Rodgers and the power of his healing crystals and copy of Atlas Shrugged on his bookshelf and the guidance of Joe Rogan FYI
  16. Really wish I wouldn't have bet my house on the Panthers winning the Super Bowl this year
  17. He looked poised and is an extremely fast decision maker. Keep his jersey clean and we have nothing to worry about.
  18. I'm literally shaking right now, I don't see how we win a single game this season
  19. Obviously all 22 isn't available but that didn't look like jack poo on that PI
  20. I was a freshman at App State the year we won our first FCS (then I-AA) national title with Richie Williams, and then the next year I think Trey Elder got one start with Armanti taking over permanently after that. Every time he had the ball in his hands it felt like you were about to see something unbelievable. Buuuut then he got to the NFL, where everybody is like that. And most of them played against way better college competition than he did. Those were long odds not even considering he was playing a new position.
  21. I looked it up and it was in fact Jeremy Leman I was thinking of. My memory was a little off though as he was a Panther in 2009 and then bounced around the league for a few years. As far as I can tell, though, he never compiled an NFL stat. I remember when we drafted Mayo and you're right, he actually got a fair amount of snaps here. He's still in the league too. Was Boulware the guy who was like "yeah at the bottom of the pile I like to shove my finger in dudes' asses" or was that someone else. If that was him, that's the only thing I remember about him.
